Without knowing what happened behind the scenes, this old man thinks Yuri has displayed courage in reversing direction when he realized he had made a mistake. That isn't easy for any man.7 likes -

I agree but damn dude.....you said some shee-it. You sounded like a Missouri fan dismissing our program.......you really sounded like Billiken Law back in the day talking about how much better Marquette was than the Bills. Just not cool.........6 likes -

when i first became a billiken in the late 70's i thought i would be an illini fan and a billiken. quickly i left the illini in the dust. now i hate them as much as i hate mi$$ouri. so i think it is possible to be an equal hater, but not a fan.4 likes -
2022-2023 Season

A tease from Frank today. Apparently he recorded two sessions with Coach Ford yesterday and aired the first. Tonight, per Frank, will be the second. Coach says something to the effect that the Billikens may lead the nation is scoring this season. 'We are going to play as fast as I have ever had a team to play.' I'm in the I'll believe it when i see it category. I'll be watching tonight to see what Coach actually said.4 likes -

Before anything else, sports are tribal. Our tribe beat your tribe. Taking pride in that is the source of the fun. This wouldn't be the first instance of a fan who thought he could root for two teams equally. That's true, until both teams are pitted against each other. Then one's preference, which even the fan may not be aware of, is revealed.3 likes -

Frank mentioned on his show today that Carr will visit Wake next. He also mentioned Crespin coming in next week, which we already knew. He said the coaches have been in contact with Bradford and they might “kick the tires” on Keita.3 likes -

"Yep! They have some nice fans who live in a dream of the day SLU will be a top program. I'm not of the same thinking....." We all have some Mizzou friends who talk like that. Is he a troll. Probably not but he deserves a little time out to reconsider his allegiance. In my book if anybody talks like that they aren't a real SLU fan(atic).3 likes -

Schasz and 2 others liked a topic by billiken_roy
i think your anger is misplaced. it seems to me the only thing schasz is guilty of is being the messenger. you almost act as though he brokered the whole almost deal. i agree i wasnt happy to read it, but in hindsight he was only reporting what he knows due to staying abreast of his wife's alma mater messageboard. if you should be furious with anyone it is yuri himself for his discourtesy and lack of class and loyalty to the billikens. my guess is he didnt come back out of loyalty and friendship but some booster(s) likely bucked up to the threat of the gun to the head and out bid the volunteers. that's nothing to celebrate. plus what did yuri's actions set off with the other players that indeed did remain loyal to the billikens? i pray this is now the end of this for now. but come on the shots at schasz are not necessary.3 likes -

I trust your opinions and expertise always and I agreed with you about Yuri. The whole ride with Yuri in the portal was a strange ride and SLU’s administrations tendencies to react does not have a good record. Chris May and Travis Ford continue to break through that I am confident SLU will be good for many years as long as SLU can keep both of them. Has anyone noticed that troll labs and bonner have crawled back under their rocks?3 likes -

I would like to see the A10 do something completely original. 1. We could set the divisions as upper and lower based on non-conference rankings. Meaning that the upper plays the upper more and the lower plays the lower. Helps avoid bad loses and builds strength if schedule. It also helps bad programs look a little better. 2. The conference could be set up as a series of tournaments where the losing teams play out to a final spot, then average all the tournament rankings for a conference champion. Maybe weight the last one as a double amount. 3. Set up three-legged races on consecutive Sundays, to be performed in the event of a tie.2 likes

Wow. If you aren't an attorney, you sure play one online very well. My "conjecture" is that you prefer not to see Tennessee as doing anything dirty or underhanded, so you are sticking your head in the ground.2 likes -

In college basketball, you can have more than 1 team. There's a lot of room, many teams will never play each other. It's not like a league of 30 or 32 teams. If you adopt your wife's team in addition to your own, there's nothing wrong with that. There's a lot of people who are fans of their undergrad and grad school, etc. Nothing wrong with that. If you can cheer along side Cubs fans who root for the Bills, I'm pretty sure you can stomach fans who follow more than one CBB team.2 likes

We will see whether he will lead the team to an A10 championship. I hope so. I am an older guy that won’t hate on him but I won’t be cheering him either and that is okay. FYI, I won’t be buying any players merchandise, I pay for 4 season tickets, parking, snacks, and SLU merchandise that is enough. A SLU education is enough pay.2 likes -

Regarding #1--Conference records could get really distorted. The 'tallest dwarf' could have a significantly better record than the 'smallest giant.' While the smallest giant probably isn't dancing at large anyway, it gives them a tough road in the conference tourney.1 like

Honestly, on the open market the value of the degree for an athlete is not the same as it is for other students. I went to school at SLU during the height of the Majerus days and was good friends with one of the men's basketball players. As great of a guy as he was, he never went to our classes (even when the team was in town) and didn't really have any of the life or academic skills that would translate to being a good employee. He passed his classes due to help from tutors, but the degree for him isn't worth what it is for your traditional student. The argument that athletes are getting a $160,000 education as payment for the services has always irked me because the degree doesn't mean much if employers de-value it or it doesn't translate to the skillsets developed to get and keep a job.1 like

I personally know TJHawk and I know he has been volunteered his time and money to raise money for the athletic department at SLU even though he is a KU grad. What have you done other than be a crotchety nuisance and sit in your seat with your arms crossed in your sockless pennyloafers?1 like
