  1. Wow wow Wow You have to credit Ford here. He was able to land a replacement PG as good as Collins

  5. I do love Yuri quite a bit less but I've been a very big critic of Ford and I have to give him (and probably the Chaifetz's) a lot of credit. Now go make a Sweet 16

  7. The best approach, for tax implications, is that we establish it as a separate church, and the players become masters of ceremony.

  9. Without knowing what happened behind the scenes, this old man thinks Yuri has displayed courage in reversing direction when he realized he had made a mistake. That isn't easy for any man.

  10. I wondered if this would happen. I questioned whether or not this board would look back on this and think that we were reacting like baseball fans to Curt Flood’s holdout. It’s possible that Yuri is just opening the floodgates here at SLU with regard to NIL. Maybe he was sending a message to the folks here that SLU needs to move a little quicker.

  12. If this is true, I can’t deny my Yuri love has taken a hit. However, if Coach and the team think this is the right thing then I’m all in.

  14. Notre Dame AD Reveals Major College Sports Prediction (msn.com) Interesting take on where collegiate athletics may be headed. If I read it right, he's saying SEC and Big10 schools, and I would assume the ACC and PAC 12 as well, will license their names to basically what becomes Minor League professional teams. He just mentions FSB, but would also assume he thinks hoops will follow suit. Sounds like the end of the Student Athlete era might be in the cards. Of course, it's all about the Benjamins, but this guy assumes since the SEC and B10 are garnering the biggest paydays they might go for it. After all, they wouldn't have to worry about the NCAA coming in with their penny ante investigations and possible suspensions, which never seem to impact the biggies anyways, see UNC and Kansas for examples. After giving it some thought, I think I'd like to see it happen this way. We don't have much of anything in common with these behemoths anyways. They typically dominate the HS recruiting scene and are doing the same with this crazy portal/NIL stuff as well. Also, in most cases, the HS all stars they get are more interested in pursuing their professional sports dreams than a degree. Such a set up would finally rip the cover off the hypocrisy of today's situation in college sports. Such a setup might also provide a more even playing field for the schools that decide not to compete at the professional level. Let them set up a new governing body to run championships and provide actual governance over it's member schools. I doubt this body could do away with the NIL, since that's now the law in most states, but it certainly should make the payments within reach for it's member schools. Of course, such a setup takes away the David v Goliath aspect of the NCAA, but when you look at the tourney realistically David's never gonna win the whole thing. Yeah, the occasional Loyola, Butler, or VCU makes it to the final weekend, but that's it. Why kid ourselves by thinking, make that dreaming, a mid could really pull off the ultimate miracle on hardwood. I'd much rather watch a real collegiate championship tournament than one where we're schools like SLU are being matched against professionals. I think this guy's onto something, and it ain't all bad. In fact, it sounds pretty damn good.

  21. I have this spreadsheet bookmarked. I'm not sure who owns this, but they do a decent job of keeping it up to date. There are a few errors, for example they list Jimerson as a Junior, while we all know he will be a 4th year Freshman. Hughes Jr isn't on the SLU list, but being a Walk On, perhaps he will appear later. So I assume there are similar errors on other team's lists. Some players that are going through the NBA evaluation are listed on the roster for next season (Burton for Richmond) while others aren't (Osunniyi and Welch). Teams that have a ways to go to fill out their roster include GW with 5 open scholarships, LaSalle with 8, Rhody with 7, and the Bonnies with 5. The Portal is still open for entry for another week, so there likely will be a flurry of outbounds. https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1QgSo3xymzu43nF20xkXOkJ3ESDx8NPg1fen0PQ1fGuY/edit?hl=en_US&hl=en_US#gid=0

  22. I'm sick of the negativity. Look at Jimerson. He's not even the best player on the team. We have two big time stars and two of the top scorers in the NCAA coming back next season. We have the best big man in the A10. We have a couple awesome two way players in Pickett and Thatch. We have the human highlight film Hargrove. We have another sniper in Sincere Parker working into the rotation. Parker scored the MOST POINTS in JUCO last season and he won't start for us. We have two nice freshman in Thames and Kramer hungry to push for PT. We have Larry Legend JR walking on!!! Most talented walk on since Jeff Leuchtefeld. We need 2 guards who can handle the ball and compete for playing time with the freshman. We need a serviceable backup big, maybe 2. You think Ford isn't going to bring in impact transfers? What year hasn't he done this? This is a team that will still contend for the A10 championship and make the NCAA tournament. We have 6 guys and counting all from the STL. The city will be behind this team. Forget about all the rest of the BS. When we win, which we will, all that will take care of itself.

  33. I keep looking at all the players transferring and their “salaries” this is getting disgusting. Each say that goes by I get more upset. Something needs to be done to save college athletics. Million dollar salaries for transfers and high school kids is gross.

  36. With the number of guys returning to the school they originally left growing by the day... Is there any shot Yuri actually returns? Actually sits down and talks with SLU staff about schedule/system/shining this year, Ford gets a few scouts to talk to Yuri about playing as 3rd option in a big school and being the man at a mid school, NIL money comes in and evens the playing field... Am I crazy for not having given up yet? Seems like if this was as more of a sure thing as we all originally thought, it would be done?
