  1. We need whatever Coach Schertz thinks we need.

  2. I feel like Schertz is getting EXACTLY who he wants to get, within realistic expectations. I am pumped for November!

  6. Just to hammer home the impact Robbie can have and how massive this is for the program. Google searches for Robbie Avila the past 90 days are the blue line and Google searches for Billikens are the red line.

  9. And finally a power forward with the prototypical power forward size! He had a lot of big-time programs recruiting him just two years ago. Pus, he would have received quality coaching at Miami, spent two years in an ACC strength and conditioning program, and competed against some dudes day in and day out. I think this is the profile of transfer we should expect to see a lot of for programs at the level of SLU.

  10. Well it started in Fairfax, VA (vb) then to Richmond (ws) on to Myrtle Beach (mbb). Then it was baseball in Port Charlotte, FL, Millington, TN, Hammond and New Orleans, LA. On to Edwardsville, IL (wbb). Now at the A10 Tennis Championships in Orlando. Amazing complex. #4 seed men playing in the quarterfinals this morning against Mason. The ladies play tonight in the semis. They are the #2 seed and #1 VCU was upset last night. I don’t think either SLU team has ever made a regional. That would be really cool.

  12. He averaged over 4 assists/game as a high school senior. Thinking that is a pretty good indicator of why he is seen as a fit.

  16. He was a starter on a 22-11, NET 66 team in a competitive West Coast Conference. I don't see a down side here. But no he is not the rebounder nor rim protector I believe we still need.

  18. Yeah great Idea but we can't even get a train from the airport to downtown in Austin. I like the stop in Terre Haute but I heard it was only one way from there to St. Louis.

  19. 60th ranked high school recruit two years ago, love if we could tap into that potential. Fills a big gap on this team too. LFG.

  21. Welcome Josiah! Best NE player his recruiting class on a very good HS team. I follow Creighton closely (med alum). His family is very involved in serving the Omaha community and brother played there. Surprised he transferred given his ties, but I think he saw playing time limited. They have the best BEast recruiting class/one of the best in the country and will be active in the transfer portal. I think he will fit in just fine here!

  22. This is small time thinking. TheOne was on here saying 3-4 Indiana State starters plus Jimerson. We only landed 2 Indiana State guys, so I take that as meaning we'd still have potential NIL funds for the right starting caliber players that the big fish are on board with.

  23. I'd put Thames over Dotzler tbh - I think Thames could make a leap this year. He is an athletic freak who figured out his shot. Plus, he was a 1 in HS and has solid court vision, so I think he'll fit the pass and move offense incredibly well and really break out. His trouble has been that he doesn't really have the ball-handling to go with his vision, but I think that the more ball movement pass & cut oriented way that Schertz's team runs (versus dribble-drive) will be to his benefit.

  26. Regarding Mari pause this video, posted by Torch, to his commitment thread, at the 41 second mark. It might explain his knowledge of Majerus.

  27. I personally think with the Schertz offense I watched in the NIT, we don't need a pure point guard. They get out and run and everyone is moving even in the half court. Assuming Schertz will try to implement the same offense we need speed and shooters. A lot of dribbling is a fail. All need vision and passing skills and unselfish attitudes.

  28. According to The Athletics rankings, Avila is 3, Jimerson is 28 and Swope is 31. From what I can tell, they would join Indiana as being the only schools to get 3 players in the top 35 so far.

  29. I think the key phrase in Robbie's video was...After the money, St. Louis U checked all the boxes. He had numerous offers, some maybe for more cash but he came here because we checked all the boxes. The same is true of Coach Schertz. After the money, we checked all the boxes. What does that mean? It means that SLU is a place you can come to and ...Grow, thrive and stay....ie check all the boxes. Bottom line...Robbie's video explaining why he came to SLU does not only shed light as to why he came here but in turn will be a great recruiting tool for future players to watch and help them make their decision. He will not be the last player to check all the boxes.

  32. I’m not certain about this, but many grad transfers/post-grad seniors that SLU has had have been enrolled in a program called Certificate in Organizational Leadership, or something like that. In at least one situation, I remember reading that the program doesn’t actually start until some point in the season, which effectively allows the enrollees to be “enrolled” in an academic program to be eligible, but it allows much more flexibility in scheduling.

  33. If you don’t care about his performance at Creighton, that’s fine. One or two may care about what he did last season. He pretty much has a clean slate coming here. But thanks for your thoughtful feedback.

  35. If not for the incompetency of Frank Vogel, the Suns might have noticed they had a dude that would help their top 3 talent roster finish higher than 6th...

  36. Haha exactly, though that would be pretty funny. “Hey Connor, look at all our cool $hit, too bad you’ll never get to enjoy it! Catch ya later” I do think there could have likely been a conversation around playing time/role that resulted in coach telling him he’s essentially Robbie’s backup and him deciding he’s looking for more.

  37. With 7 players, Schertz’s roster construction already makes way more sense than any of Ford’s full rosters.

  38. Swope has played as a 1 before, and he has solid ball-handling skills... he's really more of an undersized 2 though. Having such a small 2 limits the kind of player who can play at 1 though. I don't think there will be a meaningful difference between 1-3 (1-4?) in the half court under Schertz, though.
