Brighton
https://fox2now.com/news/missouri/st-louis-on-the-map-for-long-distance-railway-from-new-york-to-dallas/ Could you imagine going to Dayton, Chicago, Pittsburgh, Philly, NYC, and even taking the Northeast corridor to DC when they host the A10 tournament without flying nor driving ? White Pelican
Wow. The new A10. The Amtrak10. (Or 15, or however many we are, not sure myself.) Looks and sounds great but I'll believe it when I see it. (And I've taken the train to Chicago almost 20 times in the last 25 years, as well as a trip out west years ago. So I'm all for it.)
TheA_Bomb
Yeah great Idea but we can't even get a train from the airport to downtown in Austin. I like the stop in Terre Haute but I heard it was only one way from there to St. Louis. thatskablamo
It’s a non-starter for me if we still have to worry about getting in and out of Olean in March.

cheeseman
Looks like an awful lot of stops - won't be high speed then.
GOSLU68
Looks like a lot of good places to visit; train travel is fun for all ages and if it competes time wise with a car that seals the deal- take a book, kindle, computer or just look out the window- take a nap, even thunderdan likes this
Old guy
High speed train lines have been announced in California, and never went anywhere despite the expenditure of vast amounts of money. I would not hold my breath waiting for this NYC Dallas line to open.

If train travel is going to ever be successful it must be able to be high speed. I took a high speed train from Rome to Naples and it was spectacular but, on the way, back there was not one available for the time I had travel and it was slow, behind schedule due to all the stops, and not even close to experience. Most people can not give days to travel just to take a nap and read a book.

I can fly one way from DFW to PHL tomorrow on a wide body Boeing 787 tomorrow for $186 and be there in time for my morning constitution right next to independence hall. I love taking the train to Chicago. And, if you book early, it’s only $20-25.
billikenfan05
Wake me up when they break ground. They've been talking about this since before I was born. What a non story. JMM28 likes this

TheA_Bomb
This train line could put St. Louis on the map. But I'd be wary of a bunch of east coast carpet baggers showing up. My business partner Samuel Cupples wants to market our wares to the travelers. JMM28 likes this

Billed as high speed, it is similar to driving time, but then you factor in driving to the airport and parking. If you need a vehicle on the other end, it's faster and cheaper to drive. A friend of mine used it when it had cheaper introductory fairs.

We need all the transplants we can get. ….and if I thought it was a non story, I wouldn’t have replied.
