  1. Goodwin has been on a tear recently. This performance was against the Ignite, which is mostly comprised of player who forgoed college to play their 1 year pro before the draft, so some high level talent Jordan is dropping near triple doubles on.

  3. The refs look like they're bored by one-sided game and trying to even up the score.

  13. Rob Martin could start here as a freshman? Who are you sitting, Yuri, Jimerson, Nesbittt or Perkins?

  14. Robert Martin (CBC) has us in his final 3 apparently. Would be a fabulous backup PG addition in my opinion.

  15. Think SLU would ever entertain a middle-aged alumni race with spouses at the opposite baseline encouraging us as we crawl across the court? My wife dangling Frasier season 3 in one hand and a rice paper wrap from Lona's in the other hand..

  16. The point is TO/gm isn't really a good metric for determining PG quality..... no one is saying YC = Magic.....

  17. Yeah. He's having a great season. It seems the emphasis on recruiting is to go after wings. With the number of years Gibson/Nesbit have left...wouldn't a forward (6'7-8 stretch/PF) be more of a need?

  18. Okoro was so badly misused and under utilized at Oregon, then sat out last year of course it took awhile to get it back. But he was an excellent AAU player so I expected this to emerge. Admittedly it took longer than expected, but I think we are starting to see what he can do. Just think another year as well!

  30. They’re different players. I am more confident that Parker will get playing time next year than Williams. I’ve never fullly understood the fit with Williams though so the coaches may have a vision for him that I don’t appreciate

  42. Absolutely. I donated when Steve had the last call for donations, so I know I have more reactions than regular MBMs, but how much money did @Pistol have to fork over for unlimited reactions???? Connecting the dots here: Clearly Pistol has a boatload of cash to make such a sizeable donation AND to do all the tireless recruiting research for no pay AND to have the time to co-host a weekly Podcast also for no pay. Pistol recently added chess coverage to the Podcast... Who do we know who has a boatload of cash AND loves chess...BINGO...Rex Sinquefield It's pretty clear that Pistol is a pawn backed by Rex to infiltrate our beloved Billikens.com message board, earn our trust with years upon years posting his recruiting info, co-hosting a Podcast, etc., and then slowly but surely turn us from basketball fans to chess fans. Pistol's commie/leftist political stances are a perfect cover for his ties to Rex. The whole thing is diabolical.

  43. The short answer to your question, is yes, I expect her to compete for playing time at wing and forward next season. The longer answer: SLU will have a deeper team next season, with healthy competition for playing time. H Smith is a very experienced player in her class who has played with and against some of the best players, locally, regionally, and nationally. She has a knack for getting behind the defense and scoring big goals from a wing position, and, she is good at organizing an attack. She has also played up top for her club and high school. But I expect her to begin on the wing in college. Smith made the national quarterfinals a few years back with her club team. And they make the highest tier of the ECNL playoffs annually. This season her club team went 10-3 in Midwest league play. Half of her team played on the U18/19 last year that made the National Quarterfinals of ECNL. She gets to practice/train with players headed to South Carolina, North Carolina, Wisconsin, Arkansas, Mizzou, Mississippi St, Memphis, SMU, Missouri St., Grand Canyon, SIUE. on a regular basis. And that’s just the U18/19’s. She and her team picked up a win over FC Dallas and a draw vs SoCal Blues.!Last season they picked up a win over Dallas Solar, one of the better teams in the age group. So she’s certainly battle tested for her age. Every new player at SLU has a varied time adjustment period to the pace, physicality, technical, and cerebral components of a next level of competition. We see that all the time. We saw it this past season. Emily Gaebe became the A-10 Rookie of the Year. Mattyn Summers was the MVP of the Conference Tourney, and so on. Even some veteran players needed some time to overcome injuries to later make significant impacts, Friedrich, Halverson, etc.. H Smith will be joined by fellow Freshmen attacking third players, Taylor Krueger, Ellie Paloucek, Claire Nicholas. SLU returns several attacking third players as well: Friedrich, Groark, Walsh, Larson, Kelly, Preusser, Gaebe, Sawyer, Summers, M Smith. (Hiatt is a defensive midfielder and outside back, and Wolterman is a keeper) A hypothetically healthy and ready to go SLU team has Groark, Larson, Friedrich, along with Kelly, Gaebe, etc..in its attack. So, we’ll see. As Katie has said, the increases depth is a good problem to have and sort out. Some will move around a bit on the field based on how best they can help the team. (Moving Kelly to a wing, Friedrich to a center midfielder at times last year) Some players will deal with injuries. Some will share time. And so on. Practice/training will be high quality and intensity.
