  4. Thames is averaging 28.5 points through Pattonville's first two games, with a slashline of .559/.500/.765. He's also averaging 6.5 rebounds, 4 assists, 3 steals, and 2 blocks. Pattonville blew out Hazelwood West in the opener but lost by 29 to Pewaukee (Wisconsin) in the Washington (IL) Tournament of Champions this weekend. They host St. Charles a week from today. The box score from SLUH's only game, a 57-53 win over Tolton, has not been posted online. I saw a Tweet listing three other SLUH players in double digits, so it stands to reason that it wasn't a big scoring game for him. Although another poster did point out that he hit some clutch baskets late, and the game also featured 2025 SLU recruit Aaron Rowe for Tolton. SLUH hosts Cardinal Ritter tomorrow in what should be a great matchup. Parker has started 9 of 10 games for Moberly. He's averaging 20.3 points on a slashline of .491/.369/.852 and adding 6.9 RPG, 1.0 APG, and 1.5 SPG. Moberly is now 8-2 on the season and hosts Mineral Area College on Wednesday. Per their current schedule, they play two games in St. Louis - vs. John A. Logan at SLCC on 12/5 and at SLCC on 2/15. I'm assuming it's the Forest Park campus for both of those. Apologies if any of this is redundant, but thought this was a better thread to keep up with what these guys are doing than in the recruiting thread.

  5. yes a thousand times yes.assuming u r in old school tv range. I have 1/2 tv'sall have some antenna and all work. real expensive ones might be better but anything that u can attach to the coax input will boost your signal. once attached u will have to scan for channels after prompting & then run through c what u got. sometimes u may have to adjust & rescan if channels are missing. once u have them u still may have picture issues so just adjust till satisfied. even old school fm stereo antennas work to a degree.

  12. You could rig up a rusty wire antenna and some tin foil and catch the game if you had to, O.T.A. signals and antennas are a crazy technology. Or you can go to Stadium's website on your computer and connect it to your TV via HDMI. I'm a custom technology integrator by trade and therefore consider me a professional on the matter. Your experience using a computer and an HDMI cable is going to be easier and in higher resolution that way than by streaming via any other variety or using an antenna. My $.02.

  16. I'm with you, let's impose our will and control the game. Run and gun, don't play their game. Take it to them in their own house and send a message. I mentioned in another thread that I'd like to see us try the 1-3-1 defense again. It was shot down by somebody but I like the idea because they don't shoot well (or often) from outside the perimeter, they don't rebound all too well, and they play slow - all reasons to believe they would fail to pick it apart and if we run it well it will create easy transition offense that allows us to control the tempo the way we want to. Force turnovers, create transition points. That should be the gameplan - but outside of a full court press into the 1-3-1 with the way Boise plays I don't see much opportunity to play that way.

  17. Given they notoriously slow the game down, do we just have Yuri send things into hyperdrive? I know Bakersfield had success leaning into the slow play, but I like our team running and gunning.

  18. I'd guess Travis would draw up a play for Jimerson with the hope he gets hacked. and goes to the line. Or possibly Linssen since he's been deadly from the FT line. Most likely though he'd leave it up to Yuri to create and find someone open for a good shot. If we had Javonte you can bet he'd be facing a double or even triple team which would have to leave someone open for a clean look.

  20. Scouting the Washington Huskies. #2 National Seed. Jamie Clark’s 11th season, 4 Elite 8’s, seeking their first College Cup Final Four. (For those unfamiliar, Jamie was an All American player for his dad at Stanford, and, his dad was also well known for his long tenure coaching Notre Dame as well as Dartmouth earlier in his career) 4-4-2 often. (they can look like 4-3-3 and 3-5-2 at times) 1) Defending set pieces. This is how Washington scores often. Charlie Ostrem and Dylan Teves take their free kicks. Conveniently, both are All Americans. Lots of aerial curls and end swingers to UDub’s 3 tall, back line players who get forward. (Sailor, Burks, Robin). They also clean up mistakes. But cannot allow the Huskies to win those aerial battles, and need to limit corners and set pieces. Back post. 2) Teves and Ostrem. Teves will position up top or a central attacking midfield spot. He’s all over the field. Absolutely cannot give him space in the open field or counters. And, he will clean up any scrum in the box. Fast, fit, technical, cerebral player. Great finisher and passer too. He has back to back hat tricks this NCAA Tourney. If there is one player you must find at all times, it’s Teves. He can make something out of nothing quickly. Charlie Ostrem is a left footed, left back who plays end line to end line. He will go where the play takes him, anywhere on the field not just up the left flank. He’ll be more likely to create and provide service. Teves will do both. They will both be at every free kick. Burks will push up the right side but he’s more likely to send diagonal long balls from midfield instead of go to box to box. Achille Robin will play inside next to Burks. Steady defending and aerial threat. Getting into tight spaces, through balls are ways to counter that. Soto and Kossa Rienzi are undersized ball winners in the defensive midfield. Scardina is power/speed wing who likes to shoot from distance and can finish within the 18. Lucas Meek will possibly come off of the bench. He’s a very good 1v1 attacking mid who had been out much of the earlier part of the season with a broken collarbone. Ryan Sailor is the Pac 12 Defender of the year. Center Back, left side. He’s their Kipp Keller. He’s very good in the air on both offense and defense. He’s their steady back line leader. Teves and Ostrem were first team Pac 12. Meek 2nd team with Burks. Kossa-Riezi, Scardina, Soto were 3rd team. Washington is very good in transition. Lots of one touch combo play in the final 3rd. They don’t play a deep bench but they wear opponents down over time in games, and, they can get better as the game progresses. They also have a tendency to sit back a little bit with a lead leaving opponent opportunity on space in the box but it also creates counters for themselves and Teves. Fowler is a solid keeper who is not afraid to come out and challenge. Gio Miglietti is a versatile grinder up top or midfield. SLU needs to be efficient in the final third again. Defending Duke’s attacking third players was good experience tor SLU ahead of the game at Washington. The Huskies have a bigger and better back line than Duke. (Ostrem is smaller at left back) There is a bit of opportunity in the midfield for SLU. SLU can win the game by being a high level version of themselves. SLU needs to limit mistakes, limit transition, be efficient in the final third, be opportunistic, put pressure on UW backline and wings. Two of the best teams in the country. Playing an experienced, confident team as good as anyone in the country, at their place. This is why you play. Great, fun, opportunity for SLU.

  27. FWIW* KenPom has Boise as the 55th toughest arena to play in based data from their last 60 home & road conference games. At 2,700 feet Boise is 23th highest elevation in the nation. It's nothing compared to Colorado (5,400) or Wyoming (7,200), but I'd guess that's still enough to play a small factor. Nearly half of all D-1 teams are at less than than 500 feet elevation, so it is 2,000+ feet above "normal" in Boise. *KenPom says that his home court advantage rankings aren't very predictive / stable, so they should be taken with a grain of salt.

  33. This is such a bizarre argument. There are certainly weaknesses in Goodwin's game but working hard was not even close to being one of them. He is famously an extremely hard worker. He's also not stupid. To suggest that he only just now figured out he needs to work on FT shooting is absurd.

  34. This is a good discussion @mrjoelabs. Thanks for starting this thread. I'm taking a different approach to #1. For me, at this point of the season, the most indispensable player is Collins. He is the one who stirs this drink. His play will dictate how far we go. If he has games like he did at Cancun and Memphis, we will have a rough ride. If he plays like he did in the other games, we will be rolling. We are only 8 deep. (If you are St. Bonnie, that is a deep team. If you are VCU that is not deep.) We have four or five players who could hit 20 a given night. We have three or four who could hit five three pointers a given night. Yes we have Jones as Collin's backup, and he has been quite impressive, but for him to run the team 35 minutes, well we would have a different look.

  37. SLU 4 Duke 3. Are you not entertained? Offense. Depth. Difference makers. 4-4-2 both teams. Several similarities, a few differences too. John Kerr sat Thor Ulfarsson the first twenty minutes for discipline reasons, and it helped allow SLU to settle into the game, and, get on the board. Buendia sending one into the box for Leeth. Turn and score. https://twitter.com/slumenssoccer/status/1464751366719557638?s=21 SLU had some success with the middle of Duke’s backline. SLU could have added one, missed a nice wide open double header for Niece on the 5. Duke had a little more energy early in the 2nd which began when Ulfarsson entered the game. A little quicker in transition. Early equalizer. Some nice work from Amir Daley on the right wing. He had a nice game. Draws defenders, connects with ACC Midfielder of the Year, Peter Stroud, who serves it back post for Thor. It was a nice play they have done before where Thor fakes the run and stays where he is. He’s good. 15 goals with a rugged schedule. He got his goal. But SLU was able to limit him to that, and, was able to neutralize Stroud in the middle. 4 minutes later Schulte throws a far outlet for Parker upfield, who meets the defender for the 50/50 ball and Parker fortunate to send it perfectly deep down the left flank for Becher, who quickly served to Klein making a run down the middle for 2-1 SLU. https://twitter.com/slumenssoccer/status/1464767170248941575?s=21 6 minutes later Seth Anderson heads a clear to an open Alex Shterenberg in the middle, who headed it 1v1 for Becher who changes direction slots it for 3-1 SLU. https://twitter.com/slumenssoccer/status/1464769173129682947?s=21 10 minutes later. This was where SLU was in good shape. And it appeared perhaps SLU would control the game and tack on for 4-1, 4-2. But a few mistakes made things interesting. Shak Mohammed worked the right corner 2v2, and his cross was deflected by Chandler Vaughn (busy night for Chandler) to Niece who tried to flick the ball on wide to the other side. He was alone and didn’t settle. The ball goes far post and Nick Pariano (very nice game as well, great on set pieces) made a nice run to finish. Mujeeb Murana was caught ball watching a little there as Keller was defending the middle 1v1. Even Schulte perhaps had an opportunity. Several players, unlucky, a mistake moment. 3-2 4 minutes later. A Wilkinson bump from behind brought a free kick from about 20 yards. Pariano to Jai Bean. Bean was able to get goal side of AJ. I think AJ would want that one back 3-3. 2 minutes later, Becher working the right flank defensively, forces a turnover to Klein who makes a run into the box to draw the corner. End swinger for Parker to Becher near post flick on, diving save but right off of the defender’s leg and in. 4-3 SLU. https://twitter.com/slumenssoccer/status/1464774113600364554?s=21 Overall, a well earned win, a team performance for SLU, against a top level team. There were a few set piece and end line defending things to clean up. (Sometimes SLU was playing man with 4 on set pieces.) SLU created chances, forced turnovers, excelled in transition, finished efficiently. Check some boxes. It was a fun game against a good attacking team. It was nice to see a few SLU and Duke Soccer alums at the game. NCAA Quarterfinals: Washington, #2 National Seed, is another big test, long trip, and challenging place to play. It will be chilly again, with possible/likely drizzle. U Dub has plenty of All Americans and great players in a variety of positions. Great opportunity for SLU. Should be fun. One more win, and it would be a return trip to the Triangle for SLU. Men’s College Cup Final Four is in Cary, NC.
