  1. Can you'll just stop. Do you all not see this isn't the thread for this sh!t. Both sides are equally annoying and it is old now. Everyone just move on. It really is pathetic behavior from all sides. Grow up!!

  2. Another coach that has a body resemblance to the Billiken, the last 2 (Spoon, Majerus) did well. We’re so back!

  3. I have already seen two “welcome to St. Louis University Josh Schertz” billboards. One at 44 and Lindbergh and one on 141 at 44.

  4. With the Blues rebuilding, the Billikens have a big opportunity to capture the casual STL sports fan's attention in the winter. I hope they don't blow it.

  5. Us Billiken fans voted and we regret to inform you, we reject your application. Don't try to be a Billiken fan now that we have a real coach. Go bother the IUPUI board.

  6. I liked what Josh had to say. But man were the media questions laughable. BenFred asking about "Joy". Stu asking about dress code. Some of the old timer season ticket holders asked better questions than the PD media guys. If Jimmer was there, get him back

  8. An absolute home run press conference. Those dwelling on negative issues, take your L and sit this one out. Let us Billiken fan's rejoice. I believe Jimerson was in attendance today. Frank and Bob had Chris May on the radio immediately after the press conference. It will be posted on The Press Box website soon. Look it up. Schertz is throwing out the first pitch tomorrow at the Cards game. He apparently will spend a few minutes on the mound this afternoon to make sure, hopefully, he doesn't bounce it tomorrow.

  9. NIL strategy, portal/HS/JUCO recruiting mix, scheduling philosophy, any familiarity A10 coaches teams, can his system work here? So many good questions

  10. Credit to a poster on the Sycamore board, yeah we're stealing your coach now I'm stealing your post content. They noticed two of their assistants in the Schertz SLU video. https://gosycamores.com/sports/mens-basketball/roster/staff/rob-gardiner/97 https://gosycamores.com/sports/mens-basketball/roster/coaches/antone-gray/1006 These guys have been D2 or smaller schools, Niagara, Brown, Lincoln Memorial previously.

  11. Why leave UConn for UK? UConn spends more money on basketball than UK, UConn will match whatever UK will pay and he is already winning at UConn. Hell, UConn is the better basketball program with 5 championships in the last 25 years. UConn is honestly the premier college basketball program today.

  12. I agree cost shouldn't be an issue. You hear all the stories about Hurley's idiosyncrasies? Not sure that personality type could survive the scrutiny crucible of the UK job. If I had to bet, Nate Oats.

  13. Pestello is leaving, he was not about to clash with absolutely anyone in this occasion. May used all his ability to come out of this meeting looking way better than he really is. I am absolutely delighted that Jimerson was present and appears to be considering to come back to SLU. But above and beyond all else I am happy to see Schertz joining the Bills. I really do not care who wanted to make himself look like a giant in the field, or whose rear end he intended to kiss. What I really care about this morning is Schertz and Jimerson, may they work together next year.

  14. I should quit staring at the Portal and hitting the refresh button over and over waiting for something of interest to pop. I should just go outside soon and stare at the sun.

  15. Hey, I was Team Leon back then too, buddy. Both Leon Rice and my old neighbor, Leon. Rice would've been a pretty nice hire.

  16. Reading back on few threads there were very few posters who wanted Ford, that was the overriding sentiment. The same posters who liked him are telling us that everybody liked them. These guys love to rewrite history on the board because they are consistently wrong on almost everything.

  17. If anyone deserves recognition it is Jackie Kemph. The line begins after her. Flowers & McMakin as national record holders and all conference selections are right behind her. Kyla's minutes played record may never be broken. Peyton Kennedy, if she comes back, is only 731 points behind the all time record, 21 ppg for 35 games will do it. Martinez was an all time glue player, the best all around player the Billikens have ever had but probably not worthy of jersey retirement. I hope this success spurs on some more recognition for the women in Chaifetz arena though.

  20. The A10 Tourney title and NCAA tournament appearance were his top accomplishments. He spearheaded many upgrades to the facilities at Chairfetz. He brought BCS style expectations to our program that we hadn't had before. Restarted the program after the Crews debacle. Brought in some of my favorite players, Goodwin, French, Perkins, Collins, Jimerson.

  22. Does the hiring of Schertz, a hot mid major name, and rumors of a hefty NIL war chest signal that this is the moment we’re seriously pushing to get into the Beast? The Fox contract with the Beast expires after the 25-26 season I believe. Fox will likely insist the Beast expand to compete with the P5 conferences that may be whittled down to the P4 sooner than later. SLU made a rather un SLU like move by terminating Travis Ford and eating his buyout. It would seem the powers that be were frustrated with the program’s direction under Ford and figured all our pluses, ie facilities, TV market size, and similar school profile, would not be enough to gain entry into the Beast. We need to prove that we are serious about building a winning program. Hence, the hefty commitment of financial resources were necessary to be considered for Beast acceptance. My guess is this is what’s behind SLU’s taking these very unlike SLU actions. Now all we have to do is Win, Baby, Win!

  25. I loved Fr Stark. It sounded as if he had the voice of God. But mostly it was because he came to my local parish to help say the funeral mass of my father who passed when I was at SLU. I will never forget that.

  26. Thanks! Glad you, and I hope the rest, including Coach did too! It was an alright event. Pretty standard fare, and yeah, the tone in the room wasn't right to ask about his former players coming here...we all in the Band whispered "bring half your old team here" when the question was asked how do you bounce back the team next year. Was a pretty funny moment. Oh, and those in attendance: GibJim and Coach Tate WERE in attendance, in fact they were sitting in the last two seats closest to the Band. Apparently SVB was up in the lower bowl behind the main splay.

  30. Starky one of the best to ever don a Jesuit cossack at SLU. At the prayers of the faithful, I remember him so eloquently asking the student body to “pray for someone you love…” then to “pray for someone you find hard to love.” That has always stuck with me. It’s so easy to forget how to forgive. Rest in Peace, Father Stark.

  31. The Calipari hiring is interesting. I am curious how the Arkansas fan base is reacting to this? Personally I would not be happy. Not because Calipari is a slime ball, which he is, but I think he is washed up. Given the choice between Schertz and Calipari right now I’m taking Schertz.

  34. He cites STL being a great sports town, great facilities/resources for sustained championships as deciding factors as well. Salary is not end all be all, especially considering what this dude will make in coaching. Perhaps more impressive was beating out FAU. Alma mater and recent Final Four worked in their favor.

  36. @Pakapablo. That brief biography of Josh Schertz was a wonderful reading, Thank you very much for posting it like you did. It gave me a level of understanding and liking of this man that I would not have ever reached if I had looked at him just as a coach of the basketball team. Again, much appreciated.
