  1. Quit crying, get the vaccine or get tested. Pretty simple.

  2. This thread is going just as I thought it would. Y'all are really something. While I'm as sick of this pandemic as anyone, I'll gladly show my vaccine card and wear a mask for the privilege of watching my beloved Billikens in-person. Yes, the policies are probably a bit of theater, but at the end of the day, I'm fine with complying and hope the measures do add some provided safety for everyone. But that's just me.

  3. I don't understand this attitude. I don't know if it's a new phenomenon but I find it hard to believe that insulting or shaming people into doing something works. Has it worked with the obesity epidemic? In politics? Doesn't seem like it. I don't know maybe I just have a problem with authority but when someone yells at me to do something my basic instinct is to yell right back.

  4. So where do you draw the line? Almost everything in life has a degree of risk. Are you advocating all of those things in life be eliminated? Should I present you a list of everyday activities that have the potential to lead to injury, sickness, or death...or do you concede the point? Logic does not support your argument. Covid has proven to be the ideal weapon of exploitation to achieve an ideological agenda. It is stunning that so many are so willing to surrender the liberty that cost so much to win.

  5. I haven’t said I support this decision about Chaifetz 1 way or another. mRNA vaccines have been around for decades. That’s a fact. That’s not up for debate. You can say it was “rushed” but when you already have a proven system for creating a similar type of vaccine, all the best vaccine specialists in the world working on the same project, and trillions of dollars supporting getting the vaccine out as quickly as possible, no, it didn’t seem rushed to me. Let’s not forget, it was the Trump administration who came up with “warp speed”, now it’s his very supporters complaining about how rushed it was. I’ll repeat. I don’t care if you get vaccinated. I don’t care if you’re a democrat or a Republican. Just don’t be a hypocrite.

  8. THAT WOULD BE AWESOME! I picture the end of Blazing Saddles.......of course it would have to be in Salina and there'd be no vax mandate but paystubs would be required to get in......

  10. I get that and they work. But Covid is a little different. A person that is vaccinated can still contract snd pass Covid. Is it the same for these others? I understand that if your vaccinated and get Covid it most likely isn’t going to cause you a lot of issues. I’m vaccinated so I don’t have to wear a mask at work. But since I’m vaccinated I shouldn’t have to worry about those that are unvaccinated correct? That’s why I don’t agree with the jab mandates. If you don’t get it get sick and die that was your choice. If my vaccination works I shouldn’t have to worry about weather or not you are.

  11. Polio vaccines have been a requirement for kids to get into schools for years. That’s the thing. This really isn’t new. A person who works in food service can’t work without getting their Hepatitis shots. A welder can’t work without a Tetanus shot. Vaccine requirements aren’t a new thing. They’ve actually been around for a long, long time.

  12. No. I’ve said repeatedly I don’t care if you get vaccinated or not, and I don’t. But if you choose not to get vaccinated, don’t lie about it or lie about getting tested just because you can’t handle the consequences of the decision you’ve made. Act like a grown up and own it. Lying about it is just cowardice.

  13. Like 05 said, if you're having vaccine mandates then the mask policy has to go. You just can't have both. I understand the mask policy isn't enforced as is but to even ask people to put it on to enter, immediately after asking them to prove they've been vaccinated against the disease the mask isn't actually protecting you from in the first place, is implying that neither actually work anyways and it's all theatre. Why stop at Covid vaccinations? Let's check for all vaccines at the door. I'd rather know someone is vaccinated against Polio than Covid. Or do we just not care about that because it isn't timely and trendy?

  14. I'm not shaming anyone into getting the vaccine. SLU set a rule, follow it or don't go to the games.

  15. What a great move by the administration. Everyone has been bitching up a storm about the last two games. Can Ford coach? Is Yuri a good PG? Why isn’t Nesbit playing? Now we have something else to fight about. Just like that all the pressure has been removed from the player. Well played Athletic Department!

  17. I'd be shocked if this cost the university any material amount of money. For all the people who are outraged & won't go, there are people who will go now because there is a vax mandate in place. Both groups are probably small enough not to matter anyways, but both are way more vocal than the average fan who just wants to watch basketball.

  19. Over the last 12 months we have had one of the longest COVID pauses of any team in the country, had the devestating loss of an assistant coach who was also a family member and former player, and the late injury of what was expected to be our best player and conference POY. His players NEVER quit on him, play extremely hard, and his teams get better as the year wears on. I would argue he has had about as bad as luck as a coach could have and he is here working his a$$ off. This topic is ludicrous.

  24. I live in the free state of Florida, where vacine mandates are banned. In this state you can attend one of the many theme parks or an Orlando Magic bb game without proof of vaccination or mask requirement. So does Florida have the highest covid case counts in the country.... No, to the contrary, when I looked 2 wks ago, Florida had the LOWEST case count by population in the country. The following is anecdotal evidence, I happen to be in a hospital ER right now with my mother. I just asked a nurse about the number of Covid patients in the ER... There are no covid patients in the ER.

  26. I tend to be in the minority on this, but boy I flipping hate wearing it. Like I wont go places just bc I hate having it on. Which to me, its either show proof - and don't have to wear a mask, or vice versa, but not both.

  27. A kick in to replace a throw in. The throw in is the only time field players are allowed to use their hands. By replacing it with a kick in, this would increase scoring opportunities. Currently a throw in around the half way line does not present any danger of a goal being scored, replace it with a kick in and it would be just like a corner kick only coming from a different angle.

  28. If next year SLU (and others) require a flu vaccine, we can all get pissed. But I don't see why we're worried about that now. But let's definitely talk about it on a message board

  29. but it has changed our lifestyle. constantly having to remember or go back to get the stupid face paper, having to endure the stares when you might have forgotten to put it on. talking to people and you can tell they are having trouble understanding your muffled speech, look i have my shots. but i admit i got them more to be able to avoid the stupid mask. now i find out that meant nothing and i am still supposed to wear the face paper. it's my GD life and i should be allowed to decide for myself how i go through it. i am tired of politicians and "scientists" telling me what i have to do and that they think they are so much smarter they have to mandate how i act and what i say and do. it's my GD life. stay out of it politicians.

  31. I disagree. The verbiage is extremely important and should be picked apart. Messaging is CRUCIAL and including the flu is a good way to increase concern that organizations want to extend covid health restrictions to things non-covid related.

  32. Well your objection seems a bit picky at least in my opinion. They could have also said ingrown toenails are a problem at the school and it would not have changed the overall reason but whatever.

  33. It's really disappointing because this should be a really good year overall for the A10 with Fordham just bad instead of atrociously bad. How many years in the past has the A10 been a really good conference if you excluded the 5,000 anchor of Fordham's 250+ ranking weighing the down? This season, teams that are in the past were okay to good (St Joes & GW) or okay to mediocre (LaSalle & Duquesne) are all really bad.

  35. That is entirely correct. Each and everyone has the right to choose whether it is OK for himself and family to get vaccinated or not. This means that those who refuse to get the vaccine or do anything else that is required, should opt to stay away and not attend games at the Chaifetz. We will see soon enough how many people return their tickets and demand a refund, and how attendance at games will be. I think it will be a lot lower than it has been. But make no mistake, SLU is a private company and they have the right to decide the requirements for public attendance to the games. This is not a discussion, this requires a simple yes or no. Oh and it is also true, like we have heard so often over the last few years that "actions have consequences."

  36. that's right, and i'm giving up my season tickets which i've had for 36 years... fortunately the Athletic Department is cooperating with giving refunds for the balance of the year..i can now watch the games at homes, just like our East Coast crowd and complain about the poor attendance and atmosphere....

  38. This is what I wonder about. Was this always the plan? get everyone’s season ticket money with less restrictions and then pop it on everyone come conference games? It doesn’t matter to me I’ve got my jabs and will continue going either way but I don’t like changing things up mid season.

  40. I honestly couldn’t care less if anyone gets vaccinated or not. But the vaccines aren’t “experimental”. mRNA vaccines have been around for decades. There’s nothing “experimental” about them. And if you think the university hasn’t already considered how much money they might lose before making this announcement, you’re kidding yourselves. If you don’t want to get vaccinated, get your refunded. I fully understand not wanting to pay for games you can’t attend. But you’re not “sticking it to the university” by asking for a refund. There’s a decent chance that large part of this announcement comes from students, if we’re being totally honest.

  42. That really isn't a full vaccine requirement then and it is just theater. I got my shots, but these policies are idiotic. The vaccine wears off in different people at different rates. Most people with no booster aren't going to be very immune or unable to spread the virus at this point. The only policy that would make sense if your goal was to stop spread would be to require a recent antibody test with a required minimal level of antibodies in your system. That said, these policies aren't about stopping the spread of the virus.

  44. It doesn’t work in the real world, I am happy to help you. Ford just past Majerus in wins, so Fords teams win. Winning the A10 tournament is winning. Going 23-8 in 19/20 is winning. Ford’s record at SLU 96-68 that is winning. I just proved to you Ford wins it is very obvious it’s not good enough for you but facts matter and does not back up your rebuttal to my post. On your comprehension of my post, I never talked about would have could have should have my post was about overcoming the loss of Jimerson, COVID being an issue for 2 seasons and figuring out a way to overcome Perkins and that by season’s end I believe he will have the team playing well based on past seasons. You don’t like coach Ford I get it. I like coach Ford and my suggestions is to never read my pro Ford posts again it will lower your blood pressure.

  45. i think a few of you are getting upset with a lot of us that are not wanting to get rid of ford or think he is a horrible coach overall. i think most of us are complaining about his game coaching and/or his player development. but imo, he is a super recruiter and a very good motivator thus in the overall picture he might be the best coach we have ever had in my fandom. i know i would take him over anyone during that time period (i go back to 1978). i just think if he improved those two areas, he would make our program elite considering his ability to bring in players. so it is very frustrating to see us be this close. however, by no means do i want him gone. i know the slu track record for bringing in coaches. plus every time we get a new coach there is a "start over" period. those have been somewhat painful over time. so let the 3 or 4 rockheads that want to fire him just talk to themselves. most of us discussing the coaching mistakes after these last two very frustrating losses are not on that level.

  46. I’ll go with coach Ford that brings in local talent like Goodwin, Perkins and Nesbitt that are fun to watch. Not one critic that wants Ford fired for a great tactician has any idea what coach Ford will accomplish. SLU had something good going in 2020 winning the last 5 going into the tournament but COVID got him. COVID got Ford in 2020-2021 when the team with only 1 loss was shut down for 40 days. Then Perkins goes down this season and the team is 7-3 with a nice road win and tournament win. I am confident with the players on the team that the coach will figure out what is best and have the team playing it’s best at tournament time which has happened before. In 2019-2020 Ford has to figure out what to do when he lost Jimerson.
