  1. Let’s get this Tuesday started off right. Former top 100 recruit, Whitney Young in Chicago grad.

  2. And finally a power forward with the prototypical power forward size! He had a lot of big-time programs recruiting him just two years ago. Pus, he would have received quality coaching at Miami, spent two years in an ACC strength and conditioning program, and competed against some dudes day in and day out. I think this is the profile of transfer we should expect to see a lot of for programs at the level of SLU.

  3. Just to hammer home the impact Robbie can have and how massive this is for the program. Google searches for Robbie Avila the past 90 days are the blue line and Google searches for Billikens are the red line.

  4. I'd put Thames over Dotzler tbh - I think Thames could make a leap this year. He is an athletic freak who figured out his shot. Plus, he was a 1 in HS and has solid court vision, so I think he'll fit the pass and move offense incredibly well and really break out. His trouble has been that he doesn't really have the ball-handling to go with his vision, but I think that the more ball movement pass & cut oriented way that Schertz's team runs (versus dribble-drive) will be to his benefit.

  8. I highly doubt Josh Schertz is going to encourage guys to shoot mid-range jumpers. For reference, this is Indiana State's shot chart vs Utah in the NIT semi-finals:

  9. This is small time thinking. TheOne was on here saying 3-4 Indiana State starters plus Jimerson. We only landed 2 Indiana State guys, so I take that as meaning we'd still have potential NIL funds for the right starting caliber players that the big fish are on board with.

  10. I agree, except it doesn't sound like Schertz encourages 10 foot shots.

  11. If not for the incompetency of Frank Vogel, the Suns might have noticed they had a dude that would help their top 3 talent roster finish higher than 6th...

  12. Question...Would Avila have moved the needle for you a couple of years ago? How about Swope a couple of years ago...a 5' 10" 170lb player? Trust the process.

  13. I’ll take a shot on 4 star top 100 kid that played AAU ball with Avila.

  14. He might be doing some similar things to when he was here, but he's doing them at a completely different level. People who defend the likes of LeBron James and grab an outsized number of boards among entire teams of giants have improved their game dramatically from the A10 level. But yeah, he's definitely exceptional and not the norm.

  15. Haha exactly, though that would be pretty funny. “Hey Connor, look at all our cool $hit, too bad you’ll never get to enjoy it! Catch ya later” I do think there could have likely been a conversation around playing time/role that resulted in coach telling him he’s essentially Robbie’s backup and him deciding he’s looking for more.

  16. I hope so too. But he still needs a backup. In CJS I trust.

  20. I say that our five best players should be on the floor and get most of the playing time regardless of who they are in our Elite 8 game.

  24. However much money the programs highest givers want to funnel to key players. The only pot is the BVF but the impact players are going to be guys funded directly by names like Chaifetz, Novelly, Bommarito etc.

  25. Speaking of the NIL money: In todays article about Missouri looking at the Memphis AD they mentioned that Fed Ex has given their NIL 25 million. Sure would be nice if one of our corporate giants would step up with anything close to this.

  29. Check out Ryan Conwell's stats and South Florida or Jayson's Kent's stats at Bradley. We'd have been very underwhelmed to add those type of guys.

  30. Good point about the strength and conditioning program. Casey is listed at 6-9....going into his senior year of high school, he weighed 180 pounds...now he's listed at 220...takes time to blossom in a body that has changed that much.

  31. Exactly we need guys that are culture fits, if Avila knows him and likes his work ethic. Or a coach is familiar that matters. Can't be a C. Gordon with all the talent but a malcontent. We need guys willing to buy into a system, share the ball and play hard.

  32. i said early in the season vogel was a fail. they are only in the playoff because they have 3 of the top players in the league. vogel did all he could to F that up but they somewhat overcame his incompetence.

  34. I looked at Verbal Commits Transfers for the following; I don't know anything about the metric used to valuate each player. If you are curious about the metric, contact SBUnfurled. GW: Castro, 6'11" F Providence, Hansen 6'9" C Cornell, and Moss 6'3" PG William & Mary Loyola: DeLoach 6'9" F Georgia (2 yrs at VCU), Moore 6'3" PG Drexel, and Nwaokorie 6'7" F UC San Diego. You would need to get their stats from previous schools. The only one I am familiar with without looking anything up is DeLoach. First, he was on Schertz recruit list, and second he was pretty good at VCU. At Georgia he was a bench player.

  40. Let’s not overlook Gibby coming home. Basically we got two of the top 50 guys in the portal. I don’t know where Swope stands in the rankings. Of course he hasn’t committed anywhere yet. But if he chooses SLU and Turnbull commits, we have mined the portal successfully.
