  1. The severance offer is not true nor is the ridiculous suggestion that SLU withheld NIL $ in retaliation

  2. I'm livid. While I may not be among the largest donor class, I give a decent amount. And I'm not giving a damn penny to the university unless and until May and Ford are gone. The fact that this administration felt that Ford's production warranted that kind of extension is incompetent at worst and irresponsible at best. Why donate to the athletic department if they are THIS poor at managing money?

  3. If we are still on the hook for $10+milliion, then May has to go NOW. At what point did we decide that Travis was too valuable to lose and was worth gambling the entire athletic department on him not flopping? Please someone tell me this isn't true. Good programs lose their coaches all the damn time and survive. If Ford is the coach next year, because we are too poor for the payout, then they really shouldn't be supported. Who would buy a ticket to this?

  5. Yeah so anyway I've been following Moii Coffee on Insta (@moiicoffee), and they've been running a series of videos in which Firaol makes coffee for SLU students while the students talk a little about themselves. He and the students all seem really bright and engaging. Made me feel good about our alma mater and the type of kids it's attracting these days.

  6. Not auto-renew but fixed term and a long one with buyout, unless picked up by another school then SLU pays the diff.

  7. I assume its a self preservation move by May. Chris May should be fired before Ford.

  9. Depending on the level of coach, AD hire before coach might be better. If you're going after an in-demand mid/low major head coach, they'll want to be hired by the guy they're working for. Rick Majerus didn't give a damn because he was running his own show anyways. Not sure there is a self assured guy like that out there this time.

  11. Travis knocking over Sister Jean might be the only thing that would make this week crazier.

  12. They could play for the Francis/Ignatius Cup. Loyola would have to agree to not have Sister Jean on the sidelines though. That would make for unfair competition. We don’t have anyone to guard her one on one.

  13. Removing all that has happened since 2019, especially this season, it’s still inconceivable to think that one conference championship warranted a 10 year extension at top dollar. That is just being played by an agent, plain and simple, if it’s true.

  16. May has seemed to have an emotional attachment to Travis since day 1. I think it's pretty telling how quiet he's been this season.

  17. Outside the box thought: Could SLU fire him for cause due to the Covid party he held and say he was endangering the players or something like that? we don’t pay and then Ford can try to get his money through the courts by fighting the Covid narrative warriors.

  18. Curcic was raised in euro ball. Euro coaches know they don’t have athletic players like the USA. So they stress D, fundamentals, muscle ball, and 3 point accuracy. Give Curcic the chance and he’ll be a solid player.

  25. If this is true, I have gone from liking Travis Ford but disliking his coaching performance to truly despising him. If he turned down a $7Mill buyout when he knew he wasn't wanted, screw him. I feel really bad for our players who have had to deal with this garbage. Could we maybe promote him to executive toilet cleaner for the arena and promote Harriman to head coach spending the same amount of money.

  26. So when somebody came on here in 2019 and said Ford got a 10 year extension, were they full of it or was that actually legit?

Here's the play: After investigation it is revealed that Coach Ford did violate SLU's Covid protocols when he hosted a off campus party with employees and students. For his failure to comply with University protocols, which he agreed to in writing, he is terminated with cause immediately. Director May is also terminated with cause for failure to enforce the University protocols and loss of institutional control in the Athletic Department. The University is committed to public health and equal application of rules for all students, faculty and employees.* *SLU Public Affairs feel free to cut and paste the above in your press release

  33. I thought all they did was sign a contract for the operations. We are still paying the bonds off so why would we set up a situation where we are paying twice - for the bonds and rent.

  34. Some random thoughts: 1. Would like to see Meadows at the point for 30-32 mins. which limits Medley to 8-10. He’s just not a productive PG at this point. 2. Parker has got to get his decision-making under control. Granted, he’s our only one on one threat, but he just can’t throw up anything to the rim. If it’s not there, keep the ball moving. 3. Hoping Van Bussell is now the first back-up to EZ. We need his energy on the floor. Bruce is just too weak to consistently compete in the paint. If he knows he’s the backup, maybe he stops fouling so much. 4. Get Curcic on the floor for a 3-4 min. stretch each half and see if he can knock down some threes. I like the fire he plays with and his shot mechanics are excellent. Looks like a pure shooter and not just a streak shooter. 5. EZ has got to stop fouling. He’s got to stay on the floor for us to have a chance. Sat. we get off to a great start, he commits a touch foul, goes to the bench, and UMass starts its rally back.

  35. So the Serbian kid plays 6 minutes at the end of the 1st half and gets 8 points, then sits for the rest of the game? It's mind boggling that he could not have substituted for some of All-Americans on the squad for a few more minutes and maybe have out-scored them.

  36. I would argue that SLU has at least one very important advantage over DePaul as it relates to Moser. He knows you can win here. He was part of the staff under RM that built a top 10 team. It has been done at SLU in recent history (how far we have fallen). DePaul hasn't been relevant since when, the 1980's? Although, DePaul is the answer to an important trivia question...who was SLU's first win in the Great Midwest.

  39. This is an excellent point. The big donors are free to do whatever they want with their money, just like we are. Dragging big donors on social media when we can't replace their money doesn't seem very wise.
