  4. Need someone to go onto their board and ask which players are coming. They would find that funny.

  5. One thing they need to do is set it up so people can make recurring donations (monthly, quarterly, annually, or whatever). Right now it appears to be one time.

  7. mediocre is kind. he was a horrible coach. no development, practice or game coach skills. recruiting was indeed his only redeeming factor. very very good before the ncaa changed all the rules. pay to play and unlimited immediate transferring changed the game of recruiting and he was out of his element and thus pretty much worthless. it was beyond time to go.

  13. You thinking you played a part in getting Ford fired is how delusional you are. Can’t wait for the May billboard.

  14. This was never going to come down to a "grass roots movement." That's child's play. If this type of change was going to happen, it was going to be driven by the adults, led by Doc Chaifetz. We should all be thankful to have this kind of support.

  18. As exciting as this news is to us Billiken fans, I think this should have waited until AFTER the Women's game. Show a little respect for the ladies who are having a GREAT run in the NIT.

  21. Genuinely believe we got the best coach of this coaching cycle. Not the most accomplished but he's a rising star

  22. I've been saying that for years. We've got about 30 years of evidence that demonstrates the old boy network runs the show regardless of who the AD is.

  23. I really don't care about May either way, but if he was good enough for Majerus, and he's good enough for Doc Chaifetz and good enough for Schertz to come here - I'm gonna say he's good enough for me. I think many overestimate his importance in the grand scheme.

  25. Actually I went and read several pages at Sycamore pride and I didn't think it was all that bad. Typical stuff and nothing that all out of sorts. Basically what they are saying is that a big money donor - Chaiftz - bought him and that is not far from the truth. Yes there are a couple of crazy people but that is to be expected. The guy who said we were terrible to Ford on the Board is not wrong but honestly, that was like calling your brother a name and then getting into a fight with someone else who did the same. Never any death threats as a couple talked about on our Board so not sure where that came from - probably projection.

  26. Hendo wins his 500th as a Billiken as SLU smashes SJU 10-2. Love that coach! I hope Schertz wins so much we can by this dude a stadium.

  29. Schertz would be crazy to turn down the opportunity to coach at the same University as Rebecca Tillett.

  30. The online campaign to dump Ford and hire Schertz/not hire Ahearn had a definite effect on the decisions made in the last few weeks. How can you not see this? Burnergate doesn't happen without the online pressure. That embarrassment was the tipping point in Ford's tenure. There was no coming back after that. The AD's office is still talking about the box of clown noses. It was a big black eye for them. May might still have them, he did for several weeks after. The silly multi year flirtation with Blake Ahearn was put down completely by online pressure. Schertz as a a candidate was enhanced exponentially by the support of him online. But yeah the grassroots thing was stupid. The AD, Board of Trustees, and big boosters all read this board and Billikens Twitter. What we say does influence and shape their decisions.

  31. You’d have to think who he could bring and what it would cost was discussed. Would he have come without some assurances they’d cover it? I don’t think so. I’m getting the vibe that SLU has finally grasped that hoops is a critical piece in the school’s success.

  34. No worries, OG. May would never make such an announcement without all ducks in a row. Besides, Coach Schertz has liked SLU’s official announcement on X. All good.

  35. No ESPN+ for today's game... that sucks. Yesterday's broadcast was pretty pathetic for most of it, so maybe our production crew uses programs like SJU as the benchmark. Freshman Jackson Yarberry will likely take the mound today... 4-2 w/ a 4.29 ERA... 1.28 WHIP. Richter has been effective in the lead-off spot while Moore recovers from the fracture received against @#$%&^ Cincinnati. Now has a .420 average which would easily lead most clubs but... Clohisy has an otherworldly .462 average going.

  38. Come on - there are a lot of things Ford can be blamed for - blowing up a Top 25 season by hosting a super spreader birthday party for his son tops the list. Playing Perkins in an exhibition game? Get real. Every coach in America then should be blamed for playing a starter in an exhibition game.

  39. Yes that would suck, but it would also mean we’ve been extremely successful, and we will again be in a great position to hire a great up and coming coach.

  40. Sycamore board has gotten ugly today but favorite post thus far is from a guy that, first, called us delusional and then said" I hope SLU finishes 28-5 next year with a 26 NET and misses the tournament". He then goes on to make the claim that ISU and SLU are equal MM's. Someone might want to let this guy know he just described Dayton, who earned an at-large bid as a 7 seed. In fact, Dayton had MORE losses and LESS wins than ISU. If SLU finishes the A10 next year with a 28-5 record and 26 NET, they're in the tournament regardless of bid stealers. That's the difference between the MVC and the A10.

  41. There wasn’t a follow up post, because the situation didn’t change. Regarding any drama after that, let’s just say some things aren’t always what they seem. Officially, SLU first made contact with Josh Schertz March 13th. Unofficially, SLU targeted, and established mutual interest with Schertz, several weeks prior to that through a third party. Contract negotiations were ongoing St. Patrick’s Day weekend. And, a deal was finalized Tuesday March 19th. He wasn’t the only coach SLU contacted. And he wasn’t the only coach SLU interviewed. But he was SLU’s first snd only choice. There were meetings on the 13th, 17th, and the 19th of March during the process. Immediately after these meetings, Trilly Donovan and Jeff Borzello were contacted by Evan Daniels and two other people.Ross Chaifetz was not one of these people. However he did communicate with them later in the process. There also seems to be some confusion and misinformation out there regarding other SLU candidates. See the Coaching Carousel post.
