  1. I don’t want to get into Covid vs Flu but if people had the flu they should quarantine too. This is something that should have been done pre Covid. There is no reason to go to work or school or any social gathering when you are sick and spread it around to everybody else. I know it is kind of a badge of honor to work through illness but it’s isn’t smart and it puts other people at risk. If you are sick and it is contagious stay at home. It doesn’t matter what the illness is.

  3. lary, i am not disagreeing with you but for most of my life, that hasnt been the case. but now we have the chinese flu virus which has obviously weakened considerably and is similar to the flu. even now, sheeple are not asked to wear masks, stay home etc when they have the flu. i just want to know what we dont treat all these viruses the same way? it is total b.s. that the deep state is using this current virus to gain control over the population. this isnt going to end well imo. and i am not talking healthwise. more and more people are tired of the inconsistent demands.

  4. Starting to lose interest in SLU basketball at this point. If we are going to be PCR testing asymptomatic vaccinated players everyday waiting for the magical ‘zero reading’ we might as well just call it. How am I watching 5 New Year’s Day bowl games with 100+ players on each field but SLU is still acting like it’s April 2020 ready with the ventilators for the 20 year olds. Morons

  5. Nice win for the bills after a mini layoff. I didn’t think we played that great. We had no business losing to that team, we had 4/5ths of the talent on the court. However, it was the same thing against Belmont. Yuri is SPECIAL! He has really turned it around after that 3 game rough patch. I hope we can get a game in before the bonnies game. That will be a test, but I fear NO team in the A10. So excited I can even state that with confidence after losing our best player before the season. Awesome!

  6. sounds like the flu. before i started getting flu shots every year, i would get it every year in the winter. strangely never was told to be quarantined, or urged to stay home. in fact always strongly encouraged to come back to work asap. what's different?

  7. He’s been living in Wisconsin, unable to work because of his visa status with the US government as a Canadian. Everything he’s been reporting for a while now has been from his house in Wisconsin. And he’s done it for free. He hasn’t gotten paid for any of it. Just thought you should know before you start criticizing his content.

  8. A nice win for The Bills and for me....There was uncertainty for SLU which created uncertainty for me. But the Bills played well enough to win and I nailed the point spread. What you don't know is I also had the exact score of the game. Also, not advising people on gambling but anytime you see a 3+ pt difference between me and Vegas....just saying.... It was not always pretty...but given the circumstances ...a good win. Let's see what happened....Bolded statements from original post.... Rich looks like a team that is fading. .... The stats showed it ....the game proved it how will the layoff affect the team?....we haven't played since Dec 18th. ..I made this statement because I feared the team would come out rusty....and they did look rusty especially from the arc. It wasn't just that we didn't have a game since 12/18 but almost no practice. That can make a difference in sharpness. 47/38/75... This was a miss from the arc... with 3 more 3s, we make the slash We need to dominate on rebs...we need to out rebound then by 7 ... This was a big miss ...we got out rebounded by a poor rebounding team...How did this happen ....2 factors...#1 I think we would have closed the gap had Linssen played... #2 Rust again...It looked to me like we did ok on blocking out but we were a step slow to getting the ball...again rust...we lost a step. Hold Burton, Golden and Gilyard to a combined 33 pts. ... This too didn't work out ...BUT... these 3 guys accounted for almost 3/4 of Rich pts and then they shot only 41%....2nd chances got them over 40%...so even though a lot of pts ...we still defended well....The good news is the rest of the team didn't do much...it usually takes more than 3 players to win a game. Hmm... well then how did we win? And to go with that question ...How did we close them out in the final minutes with a small lead? The answer to both questions is TOs. We need to try and match them on TOs. While they are great at protecting the ball, we come in at B+ in forcing TOs. I think that will be good enough to close the TO gap. ...The computer showed that they would have 4 less TOs than us...we needed to take care of the ball . We did...We beat them by 2 TOs and that was the ball game...a swing of 6 TOs in our favor was huge....It wasn't that that they had a bad TO game ...they only had 11...a good number but we had an outstanding 9.... of those 9 ...7 TOs came in the not so good 1st half. But only 2 in the 2nd half ...AND NONE IN THE FINAL 13 MIN (which means #1 stealer ITN had none down the stretch) . And that fellow board members is how you close out a game...all 3 of those blown wins in the last few games featured The Bills turning the ball over in the closing minutes of the game....No TOs in the final 13 mins is how you close a game out. Bottom line... a good win... even though we were a little off. With a few days of practice (maybe a week) we can sharpen up as we move into the meat of the conference schedule.

  11. Working and managing in retail most of my life, staying home sick is/was never a thing. I've worked with broken bones, flu, pneumonia, etc. Anything outside of hospitalization is unacceptable. The general public has always turned a blind eye to this. All the bitching about Schnucks being closed for the holiday weekend this past week just indicates how out of touch most people are or how they look on certain types of workers as beneath them and shouldn't have the same standards that other professions do just because it makes it inconvenient.

  13. So the answer to when something happens that impacts what you want is to blame the enforcer. Case in point, if it is illegal to speed and you get a ticket then we should raise the speed limit. I am not taking a position on whether the protocols are right or wrong - they are what they are. Rather than blame the cop for giving you the ticket plead your case to the judge. Some on this board are ready to blame SLU at the drop of the hat - none of us really know who set the protocols. Ford said in the article that all the conferences and teams are following different protocols. Perhaps the NCAA should set one standard and then let the schools use that as their justification for doing something different then what a local government may have in place. What the City may or may not be doing is being used by the Blues and all other venues in the City and they have somehow made it work. The A10 is the one who said if you have 7 players then you have to play but they could have said 8 or 9 or 10. The real problem here is the A10 wants the games played at mostly any costs so they also have a part in this issue. Once again, we yell at the cop not the judge or lawmakers. Ford seems hell bent on playing - a very common attitude of many coaches. I remember when we would cancel school for bad roads but the coaches would want to still practice and play the game that day. Now perhaps the road conditions had improved sometimes but there was a rule that said if school is not in session then all activities where canceled for that day. Coaches would twist themselves in all kinds of shapes to figure out how to get around it often simply saying the practice and the game is only optional for the players and not required. Of course all of us know that that was just silly the unspoken requirement to be there while not said was certainly being implied. As I said, common sense is seldom used when we try to get what we want.

  14. Have you had this Covid recently? My son had it. He is vaccinated. He had fever and chills for a day and then fatigue for a couple of more days. No way he would have been able to have any significant physical activity. What is BS about that? How many players have actual symptoms?

  16. A good W. Although I still think when we slow down play we let the opponent back into the game. Ford may have laughed at that, but it’s obvious to the casual observer. We let up in the gas teams come back on us.

  17. Agreed. If you go back to the blowout W over Tulane in December 2019 when we set the SLU record for 3 pts made, Jimerson was consistently knocking down 3s from beyond the NBA line (the game was played at the Suns arena in Phoenix). Making 3s from deeper not only gives Gibson more room, but also spaces the floor more for others as well.

  26. No doubt the inconsistencies are maddening and turning Covid into a political weapon has been eye opening and gross. My one hope in all of this is that people and companies have become more aware of the importance of self care and caring for others around you by staying home when sick. Hopefully we can use this as a learning opportunity for the future when it comes to the use of sick days.

  27. Need to just get back to (or maybe for the first time) common sense. If you are sick, stay home from work, school, sporting events, etc until you are in the clear. Doesn’t matter if it’s cold, Covid, flu, whatever. At this point, with vaccines, treatments, and enough history, people should be able to assess their own risk and mitigate as appropriate without hysteria.

  30. Slu still in small time mode here. Can’t put this on the city. The city has no say in how often testing occurs. Testing vaccinated asymptomatic people is silly and if you’re in a jurisdiction with strict protocols once a positive appears it’s completely insane. This gives the appearance that there is no difference in treatment regardless of vaccination status which just gives ammo for folks to question recent vax requirements. Seems like someone at Slu, likely Freddy, has gone off the deep end regarding Covid with the mid season vax requirement and now a booster requirement for all students when most of the country including the messaging from the federal government is moving on.

  31. Like I said before, St. Louis, has more stringent regulations than a lot of other places. As long as we follow these more stringent regulations, as is confirmed in the last Ford interview, we will not be able to play with a greater frequency due to Covid regulations than other teams can and do play.

  32. Yet most of you SLU fans were fine with banning unvaccinated fans with no symptoms from games??? Where was the outrage then??? and now we don’t care about testing non symptomatic players even though we now know the vaccine isn’t preventing anything??? for those who ripped me and others for pointing out this insanity, feel free to apologize...

  41. I did some research (asking my father and his friend who both claimed to have been present for the aforementioned Tip Off Club Meeting). Some background. Coleman was Randy Albrecht's assistant. In the 76-77 season Coleman quit his assistant job with 2 or 3 games left in the season. Albrecht was fired at season end and Coleman was promptly rehired as Head Coach. Coleman was hired with the idea that he could recruit at will all the local players. He brought in Ricky Frazier and Mark Alcorn. Mark Dressler and then....Stipo would be soon to follow along with other local stars. Dressler went to Mizzou instead. Frazier flunked out and also went to Mizzou. Alcorn took off for LSU and tragically developed cancer. Stipo never came. End of season Tip Off Club meeting and Coleman is addressing the crowd. Most likely John Krey Stephens asks some pointed questions about new recruits, why we lost Dressler and Alcorn, and what the future plans are. Coleman blows him off and leaves the meeting. This was a Thursday or Friday. By Monday Coleman was out. To be fair Coleman was mistreated since day one. There were alot of racist undertones during the meetings and many of the big donors liked the "idea" of a black coach bringing in local talent but didn't like it actually happening. Coleman was held to higher standards and never given much of any chance. The answer was to bring in Ekker who took over the whole AD, changed the mascot to some Hee Haw straw chewing caricature while banging cheerleaders and getting punched in the face by his players during games. Stephens was a board member at SLU, a large donor, and also at the time wanted Rich Grawer to be hired instead of Coleman. He didn't get that wish for a few years. Stephens owned a meat packing plant on the North Side which incidentally employed many many current and former Billikens players over the years in high paying cushy jobs. He also ran an old AAU team through his company which many Billikens players participated in as well. While he was an active donor to SLU for a longtime coincidentally he sold his business just during that time period of the Albrecht/Coleman/Ekker hiring and firing and became much more vocal in the machinations of the basketball program. If this is not accurate some of the old heads can correct me. I wasn't alive for any of this.
