  1. SLU did not “back in” to the Double Bye it actually earned. The double bye, whether a 3 or 4 seed, is based upon the entire body of A10 conference season work. Playing @VCU and Dayton the last 2 games is a scheduling sequence matter. Plus, by playing both twice, SLU is playing a tougher, unbalanced conference schedule than others. That is not a complaint, but it is a fact based reality.

  4. I think I’ve figured it out…this team is better when there is no actual game in the schedule.

  5. So I have to root for DQ to win twice in one week? That’s 2 times more than I’ve ever rooted for them before in my life…

  6. We've reached the point where we have people longing for Soderberg. That's not good.

  7. Our offense is above average. The defense let us down. There was bad help defense, there was a lot of bad fouls due to bad decisions, and bad perimeter defense (though I need to examine the #s to validate this part).

  8. This team averages 75.6 points per game which is 2nd out of the 15 teams in the A-10. We probably had the hardest schedule among A-10 teams. My point is that the offense hasn't been the problem this year. There is plenty of room for criticism, but I think it is misguided to believe that our offense has been the downfall this year.

  9. Screw the A-10...we should hire our own NET consultant. I'd love to see multiple data and analytics people on staff, not only for player, team, and in-game insights, but also for player evaluation. The portal is the name of the game now, and one way for us to establish a competitive advantage (even against the bigger schools) is to focus on talent assessment at scale.

  10. Perhaps the A10 needs to hire a NET consultant, akin to what I recently read the MVC did some years ago in terms of hiring RPI consultants. This is like a game of cat and mouse, the Power 5 vs. the Intermediates (Mid-Major remains a verboten word here in the SLU context). What I really want is for SLU to receive and accept a Big East invitation, sooner rather than later, but during my lifetime. Then someone else can fix the A10.

  12. i agree as strength of schedule isnt as big now as it used to be, however if the Billikens had performed as expected and not blown what seemed to be wins until the last few minutes some of those bigger RPI games like auburn would have definitely transferred to a buzz nationally for the billikens and a glitzy record with maybe only 4-5 losses with that tough schedule would have had the pundits talking.

  22. I think what Dlarry is saying is this has more to do with blowing big leads, and losing to bad teams like UMASS and Richmond and still to some degree - barely getting in.

  24. Dayton is a big game for multiple reasons. 20 wins, team confidence, need to get a big W at home for the fans, so this board doesn’t completely go global meltdown before Brooklyn.

  27. I didn't want to delve to deep into the weeds.....The best case scenario to finish 3rd is we beat Dayton and Duq beats Fham....chances of that happening are 16% and that is the best case ....any other 3rd place finishes go downhill from there. In your example above, the probability of that happening is 6%. Again the most likely outcome as of right now is we finish 4th and face DQ in our 1st game.....Mason would be our 2nd best possibility and there is even a 3rd possibility (in that 16% area) where we face GW (they would have to beat VCU in their game on Sat. )

  30. Third seed, fourth seed, it really doesn't matter to me. We would have to go through both VCU and Dayton to win the tourney from either starting point. Right now, if the high seeds win through, we could play Mason, GW or Duquesne in our first game. But, not all 9 through 5 seeds will prevail.

  37. Congrats, TJ! You have to love this guy. Came in behind fundamentally and worked his way into the starting lineup and one of our more productive players. He’s had to deal with Ford’s lack of confidence and subsequent lack of deserved minutes. He suffered as a result and it became a source of contention for his entire family. Yet, he stands tall and engages Billiken nation like no other player in memory. I hope he stays and graduates from SLU, but I completely understand if he chooses to move on.

  40. Yep. I’m ready to turn the page with this whole group including the coach. Really feel for Fred and Javonte, they didn’t deserve the ending they got. It just didn’t work with this group. No leadership, no killer instinct. Thank you for your service. Next

  43. I never thought it would happen to me but with a wife, 2 kids under 4, and a job that involves more travel, and moving from 5 minutes from the arena to 35 minutes I've missed more games this season than I have all together in a decade. I hope that if we were good I wouldn't have missed so many games as I was the most excited about this team preseason than I have been in a long time. Add in my father's health problems, as we had to switch seats 3 times and now are permanently in the handicapped seats. With all the games on TV and the coverage we get, it's almost too easy to stay home. I think a change in Head Coach will reinvigorate my fandom. That said I'd let my dog pee on my rug before I ever left a game early.

  44. I think multiple years in a row of high preseason hopes and ending up being let down have took a toll on my fandom. I care less than I ever had. Have gone from couldn’t wait to go back to games during COVID to at this point this season not caring about going to the games. I didn’t even feel like this in the 5 win season.
