  1. Except that backfires when you lose to them AT HOME. That’s pretty presumptuous to count on blowing out at team at their place when you can’t beat them at home (even though you are aware of this years mess). Until this team proves it’s capable of actually doing what you say, ANY road game is a toss up and no team can be taken lightly. No lead can be big enough either.
  2. Waaaaaay too many members on here are so very fragile. I’m just curious how the demographics break down. 1. Cry themselves to sleep at night over a fellow members post. 2. Love Travis and have a life size cutout of him in their man cave. 3. Believe you can not be a fan if you are a SLU grad. 4. Identify as someone who is much more intellectual than the common fan who doesn’t buy 4 season tickets every season. 5. Believes finishing 4th and winning 20 games is a Future HOF coach. 6. Believes Yuri is the best PG in history. 7. Believes SLU is coveted by the Big East. 8. Has a million excuses why poor little ol SLU is picked on by the entire basketball world. 9. Thinks it’s impossible to be a fan of multiple schools. I0. You actually think it matters on a global scale how the women’s cross country team does. 11. Believe the NET or RPI factors were changed specifically to keep SLU from the tournament. 12. Believe Ford needs time to regroup—maybe 3-5 years, but at the same time you’re afraid a new coach will take 5 years to build a team that may achieve a 100 NET. So how do you overly sensitive members identify?
  3. So rather than ignore these people you want to silence them. #cancelculture at its best. If you feel so upset over their posts, why pay attention to them? Why do some of you feel so threatened? I’m curious why so many “top tier Billiken fans” want to get into measuring their manhood, when it’s clear so many of you just “identify” as men. Why do you have to be a alum to care about SLU basketball? Are you a better fan because you went to school there? Do you not want to grow the fan base? How many Gonzaga fans actually went to school there?? So many are too simple minded to come up with anything other than “troll” for anyone who voices dissent. Getting new blood into the fan base is crucial for building the program, yet so many of the ancient fans are stuck in 1985. Just because some of the fans have had their AARP card for 30 years doesn’t mean they have to act like a nursing home resident. I didn’t go to SLU. I became a fan after moving to STL. My money spends the same as yours. I can also take my money and spend it on other things. Does this fan base want to grow or not? If you do, then like most “products”, you better out a better product or you’re going to start finding less support real quick. There is competition for the sports $$ in this city, and with the current landscape around the country.
  4. How much revenue does soccer produce? I’m happy for all of the different sports doing well, but the reality is NOTHING will compare to football (SLU doesn’t have), or Men’s basketball. It’s not a insult, it’s fact. SLU basketball once upon a time drew over 17,000 fans per game. The support is there. The new soccer team is getting 20k+, the Blues suck and still draw. The Cardinals are among the top 5 in attendance year in year out. The Rams sold out the dome when they won. This city will support winners. Even the horrible hands they were dealt in NFL franchises were supported in the rare instance when they won. The freaking XFL has 35k fans today. Too many fragile members on here are afraid (how in earth do you walk outside in STL?). VCU has made the dance something like 6 out of 7 seasons! THIS! This can be done if people would hold the AD accountable—and not be satisfied with mediocrity (and stop acting like having a great softball team actually gets fans excited and coming to games and spending money). Basketball. It’s mens basketball. Now time to see where winning teams/coaches get placed in the dance! Hoping for favorable matchups for SEMO, Mizzou, Illini, and Drake—among others.
  5. Sooooo f’n tired of you saying the same thing all the time. You cry like a little beetch at some of us for the same thing. Nobody knows if the funds are there or not. If they make a change—the funds are there. If like so many of you with inflated ideas of your self-importance are right—and the powers that be actually pay attention to this forum, then they need to hear the criticism. Will it make a difference? Who knows? If the reports are correct, and Dr Chaifetz says he wants a National Champion in his lifetime (something like that), then who are you to say the money won’t be there?
  6. Great, but unless it’s football, or Men’s basketball the vast majority or fans just don’t care. My guess is, there are a handful of women’s teams that really generate much revenue, or honestly are even follows that closely. If you want the other sports to continue to compete at a high level—the MBB is what’s going to fund that. It begins and ends with MBB. As far as firing or extending Travis—everyone knows my take. For those that are worried about recruiting, I think it’s a completely different landscape now with NIL and the portal. The days of a recruit playing for one school is going away. Way too many guys will take their craft somewhere else. If Travis isn’t fired, and if he has 2 years left then he needs to earn the extension next year and if he doesn’t—cut bait with a year left and rebuild.
  7. At least one SLU (former) guard will get to see the Big Dance in his career! Phillip Russell amd SEMO! At least one school from Missouri can lose in the conference semifinals and still go dancing! Tigers aren’t beaten yet, but it’s getting close. Can’t wait for all the “troll” posts, while the soft faction of the SLU fan base waits for May to come out and publicly make a statement that Ford is here for the long term. RIP IT ALL DOWN!
  8. Why is that a common excuse for this version of SLU team? Not disagreeing with you, but this team can make a visually impaired team shoot lights out! So much hope for the future!
  9. Where are all the Ford supporters? Sooooooo f’n pathetic! Hope you all will enjoy the NIT selection show to see if this sorry excuse of a team get passed on to the CBI! What a joke. All praise Ford and Yuri—get out your lotion and tissues. THIS was going to be THE YEAR with the most experienced team! LMAO! The All-World PG is getting his a$$ handed to him—-but OMG he’s climbing the assist rankings! #SUCKIT
  10. Tell me what my opinion is then. Do I want Ford fired? Do I hate Ford? Do I hate SLU? Some on here want some sort of “guarantee” that any new coach will be a winner. Can you or anyone else “guarantee” that Travis will evolve to a high level X’s and O’s Coach if the program gives him more years, or will it always be what we see now and come up short against ranked opponents? For the record—because you and others want to throw out the troll BS because you can’t stand any other opinion than your own—I liked the Travis hire, I’ve supported Travis. I like Travis from afar. I hate his inability to seemingly do any adjustments in game or if he finds something that works he doesn’t stick with it. The letting off the gas philosophy is mind-numbing. If what we saw yesterday is a change in his philosophy he will likely get better results year in and year out and DESERVE a extension—now again, am I a Ford hater?? Or am I a f’n fan of this program and want MORE!
  11. I’ll give you the Covid years and admit that possibly there would have been a bid—but we will never know. Aside from a miracle run in the A10 Tournament from a 6 seed, Travis just hasn’t shown the ability to win the big games. Even though it’s possibly a “win or go home” tournament game, I can’t say a first or second round game against some 15 win program constitutes a “big game”. I’m taking program changing games, or at least games to gain national attention. Personally I want more than “decent”. For me I have never felt Travis could outcoach the opposing coach on a consistent basis. He’s done it—and has proven it can happen, but he has shown the stubbornness to not be willing to adapt. I’m hoping he had a revelation this week and he becomes the coach we saw yesterday. THAT coach and that effort will get SLU to the BE conference at some point.
  12. “Please stop having a problem with myself and other posters whose opinion differs from yours. Let’s just calm down”…that doesn’t go both ways? You can’t have a different opinion from a core group of posters on here without these same people labeling you a troll! So, you bring up coaches that have been at their program for 10,12,15 years…so it’s longevity that brings their success?? If that’s the case then you and the core group of boosters need to convince May to sign Travis to a 8 year extension asap! Better keep Ford locked up for the next decade because revenue will go up and salaries will surely increase…lock him up on a cost saving deal of only $3m per. As for myself, not speaking for others—if Travis would have shown “coaching ability”, the type of X’s and O’s Type of game he had yesterday—I think most Ford “haters” or “trolls” wouldn’t have a problem with Travis like many do (because he would have certainly won more games over his 7 season here with that kind of coaching). We may get one or two games per season where we can actually say “exceptional job”. Unless this is the new style of coaching for Travis (and I pray it is), there is nothing in his past to give any confidence that he will stick with it…we usually don’t even see it for a whole half, let alone a whole game. I hope this is the new Travis and he proves people wrong. I will gladly say he’s a quality coach if this is what we continue to see. But to say sticking with him because it’s worked other places is premature—One good game doesn’t give me the confidence to think he will ever be the same in-game coach as the guys you mentioned. If he takes this team into the NCAA tournament and continues this for another season, he may very well deserve a extension at that point.

  14. You are correct, two of those teams are not in the valley and the reason they are not in the valley is because they propelled themselves into a much better position by making their own way. We saw this with Gonzaga as well. Not only did Gonzaga make themselves a national power, but some of the other schools in the conference have stepped it up lately. Too many people that follow this program are still under the misconception that finishing fourth and winning 20 games is a good season and that the NAT is actually relevant. Until that mindset changes then there is no reason for the A.D. to demand anything better because they’re still getting the support. If that is the level of success this program desires they can achieve that at half the cost or less.
  15. What the rest of the conference does has little to nothing to do with what you do with your program. Creighton and Wichita ST built national powers from the Valley. The #1 team in the country is from the AAC. The WCC has 2 too 20 programs and both of those conferences have nothing more than a few good teams. There is no reason with the money being paid to the coach, the arena, the local talent on a yearly basis—no reason at all this program can’t be a Top 50 program year in year out. Anything less than this is just the typical SLU excuses. This program and some of its fans need to stop being a freakin victim. Pick yourself up by your bootstraps and make your own way!
