  1. Once a year would it kill you to wear the shirt that gives the game more atmosphere? i know some of you think to wear blue at a game is just not good. but tonight you dont even have to wear blue. just put on the damn shirt that SLU is gifting you. come on make chaifetz a sea of white. the effect is marvelous and you can be a part of it.

  4. If you haven't heard of the Arch-Baron cup then you haven't been paying attention. My Grandpa went to SLU on the GI Bill and I grew up listening to stories of cup lore and legend as a little lad sitting on his knee. I spent three nights in a Dayton prison naked and shivering after attempting to steal The Cup from Dayton's athletic offices on a fraternity dare and I'd do it again.

  10. When I was about 5, I loved going to a specific park because it had this giant slide. One day, I begged my mom to take me there until she agreed. The entire car ride over, I could hardly contain my excitement. As soon as we parked and my mom let me out of my car seat, I bolted straight for the slide. I happily climbed the ladder and slid down. I couldn't wait! Unfortunately for me, some teenagers thought it would be fun to put some nasty wet dogsh!t on the slide, and 5-year old me slid right through that steamy casserole and had to go home immediately. Moral of the story: Let's be UD's dogsh!t slide tonight.

  13. As of this morning CBS’s Bracketologist Jerry Palm has Dayton (3 seed) and VCU (11 seed) in, with SLU as the first team out and Richmond as the second team out. Good to be in the mix/conversation among the pundits.

  14. I got lots of interested friends, most of them unafraid of apocalyptic weather scenarios; SO if any of you scaredy cats want to put some more butts in lower bowl seats, just contact me... still recall that VCU rocker, along with similar barn burners against Xavier, Butler, etc... Tonight is CAN'T MISS basketball. Don't let the paint dry on y'all.

  17. Let’s relax here. People working from home and no school will give people all day to adjust plans to make getting to the game easier. School closing doesn’t change anything.

  23. Has to be because of fear of litigation, right? Regardless, when I got the email from my client that non essential employees were asked to work from home I was all over that. Not only am I non essential as f, but I am also a drunk and if you are going to give me the option of extra time to get properly lubricated for tonight's game, hell yeah I am going to take it.

  29. I love it section 101 row Q seats 3,4 close to the tunnel where I can cheer the team off the court win or lose. Coach Ford acknowledged my grandson and I when we yelled happy birthday to him at the end of the BCook game. I have cheered Jimmy Bell every game and I finally got him to look up. The Goodwin’s sit about 12 rows in front of me I have a loud voice and have to be careful about being critical when Goodwin turned the ball over a few times I said something and forgot they could hear me but I have only made that mistake once. It is fun to watch most of the players interacting with the Goodwin’s as they walk through the tunnel you can see that the players like Jordan’s parents. I sit close to the tuba players and watch their antics and for the pre-game shoot around the seats are perfect. I watch French work so hard on free throws that go in all of the time at the shot around but never happens in the games. Similar to French Hargrove hits a lot of shots behind the arc but it never happens during the games. Happy Friday hope to find a seat at the field house.

  31. I've been tracking ticket prices on Stub Hub. The high was $30, it went down to $24 this am, and is back up to $30. That's a good sign. The local softie will stay away. Let's hope they at least give their tickets away or sell them. I plan to take my son, get there by 4pm, enjoy a nice dinner on campus, and get to Chaifetz by 5:30pm.

  33. Yep, I expect to see the lower bowl near center court fairly empty at the start of the game. I know SLU likes the revenue from those seats, but they need to figure out how to get butts in those seats. At a minimum, give the wealthy patrons the seats on the other side that aren't normally in the TV/camera shot. Bugs me to no end to see those seats empty during a lot of games.

  34. It was a daring heist attempt to be sure. That level of hi-jinx is healthy for this rivalry compared to the basketball hooliganism that plagued the rivalry in the late 80s. It’s the reason my uncle waited until the early 90s to bring me to the Arch Baron Cup games.

  37. This is weak. That place needs to be loud for the Bills. I really hope people don’t bail. back on topic. I just bet the Bills +7.5 bc I couldn’t resist. I think my lifetime record betting my team is 1-7 . So I’m due. The 1 W was an angry/drunken “everything in my wallet” bet in Vegas last March on SLU to cover +2 2nd half against VA tech.

  39. Lot of anger on this board in the last 24 hours over the NET system and the fact the committee still has the final say over who makes the tournament. The NET is certainly better than the RPI but it's not perfect, nor is any computer model. Can you imagine the outrage if Pomeroy's program was the key metric and we were ranked 88 instead of 51? At the end of the day, the committee is still a necessary evil to bring some common sense to the computer model. People are going to argue about the selection of the last two at-large teams every year, but in SLU's long history we've never been on the wrong side of an NCAA selection.

  40. It's not just local recruiting... Ford understands recruiting in the A-10. I was impressed in an early interview when he talked about how he went about putting a staff together. From his time in the A-10, he understood the landscape and what type of players you needed to be successful in this league. He talked about having a local presence (Tate), an East Coast presence (Macon) and then to add somebody like Bailey (a current A-10 coach who knew the league, plus had some connections in Chicago, which has always been a natural recruiting ground for SLU). Then you sprinkle in Ford's own connections that he has built during his long career (Kentucky, Texas, Louisiana, Florida and even Iceland). All of the sudden, you can cast a wide net and have a realistic chance of making inroads. And one other thing Ford said which applies to the A-10 - not every urban kid wants to go play at a state school in a small podunk down. There are some kids that are more comfortable being at a city type school - those are the kids that SLU should be targeting. At this point, Ford and SLU are a very good marriage.

  42. I think it is more likely that next season we are saying that Bell and Has are one of the best big man combos in SLU history. With Bell having more experience and better agility and Has playing the 4 where he will get better looks and an easier defensive assignment. Look out.

  43. I'm okay taking any local transfer who is for sure going to contribute. The important thing is making certain they'll be successful after transferring in. I have no idea if that would the case for McKinney, but our staff should. I imagine a local player leaving whatever Big State U, transferring to SLU, and then having success would be a pretty big boost to local recruiting. You would have a concrete example of why going to Big State U isn't a good option and you can have more success at SLU. The message isn't "you can go to Big State U and SLU will always be a fallback option if it doesn't work out". It is "look at this kid who wasted a year or two at Big State U before being successful at SLU, you should just go to SLU in the first place and not waste a year or years".
