  1. I fear that forcing a computer to run a simulation between these two absolute dogsh-- teams could just be the turning point at which the robots turn against humanity, the technological equivalent of conjuring up an evil spirit. Please be careful.

  2. I received a question in the Davidson spread thread from @SLU_Nick that I thought was interesting enough to create a new thread. Here it is... @The Wiz - what would the spread br if this team played the Crews/yarbrough/bartley team? Can the computer pull that one off? At first as was just going to give a simple ...no , the computer can't go back in time and play an old team....but then I thought while the computer can't do it on its own ...it might be able to do it if I helped it. I decided to give it a try. There were a lot of issues in trying to do that but one thing was I had the data base from back then....If I could convert the present day data back a decade I might be able to do the comparison. This led to a series of questions.... First (putting on my Doc Brown DeLorean hat) would going back in time upset the space time continuum. I decided it would be OK since things were a mess in the present. The next issue was how to convert the data into 2014-2016...The algorithms that I use now are different. The NCAA was different... 11 teams less . Even the game was different...a shorter 3P shot. But again, I not only had the data base from then but had the algorithm changes over the years. I could unwind the data using the changed rithms and go "back to the future". Once I was able to go back, I had to decide what to do? @SLU_Nick mentioned Yarbrough and Bartley teams. That really didn't help because they both played on 2 Crews teams...Crews 2014-15 and Crews 2015-16...these will be known going forward as C15 and C16. ...both bad teams but not the same. What to do?...Let's have a game between C15 & C16...again the space time continuum comes into play again as some of the same players are on both teams and are playing against themselves. But if the Delorean can do it so can the computer ...So we set the clock back to April 2016 and play the game at Chaifetz ..where both teams are the home team. C16 wins the game by 2. C16 turns out was the better team...While both C15 and C16 both had 11-21 records ...I had C15 with only 10 wins as 1 of the wins was not a D1 team. In addition C16 had a better SOS (B) than C16 (B- ). Further, C16 competed in an A10 conf that had 4 teams with 25+ wins....The C15 A-10 had only 2 teams with 25+ wins. So C16 with a tougher schedule , a better A-10 conf and 1 more win was the better team of the 2 bad Crews team. Overall grade C16...C-....C15 ..D. Next game was our current team against the C15 team.... Some other issues ....C15 played 31 games ...we have played only 19. ...Adjusting 3P shots for the 2 different time periods....etc. In this game, the Ford team wins by 3...btw the C16 game against Ford's current team ends in a tie...I didn't want to play the OT out ...The key piece of info was that the C16 team was equal to the present day team. Bottom line...The C15 team was worse than the present day team...however the season isn't over yet...I will leave it up to Nick if he wants to revisit this topic at the end of the season and see if the conclusion is different. We now return to 2024 using 1.21 gigawatts.

  3. Using some deductive reasoning, I am beginning to think that the buyout is not as bad as we may have thought. If there were people who were willing to step up and do it last year, then May probably did not renew his contract the last two times or there is some kind of buyout clause that is less. I just hope those who were rebuffed for Chaifetz saying no and to keep Ford are not pissed and won't step up now. If Chaifetz was the one who said keep him then he has to be the one to fix this. Ford may not finish the year and I think there is even a chance he may not even be behind the bench this Saturday. That team meeting is usually a death Nel for a coach because they rarely work, and it shows how much the coach has lost the room.

  4. I also hear it the truth that Jimerson is a paid professional - likely better paid than you or I am to shoot threes. There is NO excuse to score zero points, ever. If he needs FMLA or whatever he should apply for it. He's a paid professional and this performance was inexcusable. Those excuses were gone when he accepted the NIL funds. That is also true.

  6. I thought Ford did a good job turning around the program, recruiting good local players, getting SLU in the upper half of the A10…but obviously the expiration date has passed.

  8. My ***** about this board is someone says something without any real knowledge and it becomes gospel. Blaming Chaifetz for saving Ford is pure speculation and I have my reasons to believe it is false.

  11. As the originator of the use of the dolphin graphic after heartbreaking defeats, I will weigh in: My spirit has been broken in every possible way. Personally, I could not even muster up the energy to post it, and I would assume other dolphin posters feel the same. I will, however, bust out this bad boy once again:

  12. Jimerson has had plenty of dud games in his career but I'll give him a pass here since I don't know his relationship with his grandfather. It's probably a valid excuse but it doesn't tell the whole story. He's taken what 8 shots in the past 2 games? Teams are taking him away and Ford can't scheme him open.

  13. Shows you his true colors. Smells of a bad loser, no class, no accountability at all. All starts with the head coach. The AD, I thought was in witness protection program, but he appeared at half. He’s not going to say a peep any way. Just a bad look and another reason not to wait until after the season. He should do the right thing and quit. Give Harry a shot or Tate. Just the thought of paying Ford millions to leave a job he’s bad at makes me sick. We might not win another game this year and I’m not being cute or funny. It’s as bad as I’ve ever seen it. I’ve got nothing else to say that I haven’t said way too many times. Sorry everyone just want this program to live up to its potential. It has everything in place to be as good as anyone in country except right people making decisions. That’s so frustrating to me. Esp after tonight.

  14. Twice tonight we have been denied a sub at the end of a timeout because they didn’t check in soon enough… first time Gibson, this time Ezewiro. That’s CYC level crap. What the hell is this staff doing??

  15. Well Dalger leaving opened 24 minutes per game… which have so far been given to the players that have us in this predicament. we are getting annihilated by a team of Stef Van Bussels. It’s a disgrace.

  17. Yes, ...the fact that someone would ask about comparing one of the worst teams in recent history shows we are not in a good place. Up until the Crews era, I had the regular grading system and at the bottom was just the letter F. It was during Crew's tenure that I had to come up the F+ and F- to micro manage the bad numbers. We need to turn the ship around. The good news is that in this new age of NIL and transfers it can be done quickly.

  18. Understood, but the flirtation lasted about a week. Can you blame him for exploring what's out there with NIL when SLU seemingly had little to nothing to offer at that time? At the same time, we also have a lot of fans (rightfully so) very critical for SLU to be slow in developing their NIL game. It seems to me, Yuri's flirtation was a good thing - it was a wake-up call... a catalyst for at least trying to develop a NIL strategy... which currently a lot of fans still think is not enough. Imagine how far behind SLU would be with NIL if Yuri didn't provide a wake-up call. He's a local kid who stayed home, played all four years, became the school's all-time leading assists leader, A-10 all-time assists leader and led the nation twice in a statistical category (something I imagine has never happened in SLU history. Those are things that would typically be celebrated.

  19. I tweeted that rich chaifetz should be embarrassed to have his name on the court where that team last night was playing. I stand by that take and would tweet that at him every day until that clown travis ford is gone and the program gives that court something to be proud of.

  20. I prefer to keep the criticism to the coach. It's easier. If we're going to the players, I'd even argue that Goodwin and French should have delivered more than one NCAA appearance. I'd say Jimerson has had way too many no shows in big games to be considered an all time great. I'd say Parker and Perkins are one dimensional overrated players who clog up whatever offense we even try to run at times. I'd say Yuri had a lot of empty stats and the flirtation with Tennessee and then didn't deliver a successful season when he came back. But at the end of the day it all comes down to the coach.

  21. I do agree that Yuri caught a lot of crap for being one of the best Billiken guards of all time .His flirtation with Tennesee caused some of it.

  23. I believe you misspelled checkers, like the one outside your neighborhood Cracker Barrel; that’s more Ford’s style. But I don’t believe he has a next move. If he loses Jimmerson, that may be signs of a full mutiny on the Billiken Bounty, and it pains me to say it, but maybe Jimmerson has a right to be pissed off at Ford. He didn’t come here to play with the scraps from the recruiting table. He expected more out of his helmsman and is not getting it. I’m sorry for referencing both Cracker Barrel and nautical terms in the same post, but I’m in New Orleans for work and it seems like Louisiana is a place where those two worlds collide almost every minute of the day. Going to drown some sorrows at Port of Call tonight.

  27. A new coach might need to bring in 13 new players. There are guys on the roster I like but there's nobody that I consider a "must keep".

  29. We all know Ford sucks and needs to go but I think we’ve been giving the players a free pass. They are guilty of this mess too. They are the ones taking awful shots. They are the ones making careless passes. They are the ones who don’t hustle back on defense. They are the ones who refuse to go after rebounds or play defense. Ford creates this awful roster but the players aren’t doing their jobs either. I’m done giving them a free pass because the coach stinks.

  31. imo this teams biggest weakness is they dont do anything right fundamentally. stuff we were taught as 6th graders playing basketball they dont do. they have no sense of defense, particularly help defense and rotations when playing zone. it is just plain bad basketball. they are decent enough athletes. they just are not good basketball players. we played a team last night that we would beat in the decathalon up and down the lineups. unfortunately no one was there to run the decathalon. there was supposed to be a basketball game. unfortunately, particularly in the second half, only davidson showed up.

  32. there is no recruiting any longer. either we buck up and buy players or we need to go down to a lower level where the game is indeed still an amateur game. recruiting skills mean nothing any longer. our current roster proves that.

  34. I've lost grandparents. It hurts but yeah; for Ford it's another ex post facto excuse, something he is now infamous for. I feel for Jimerson, I do not feel for CTF.

  37. You're still here hats off to you. Pre-season predictions, like excitement for recruits are usually positive. That's what we want we're fans give the fans hope that it'll be good. But I saw the trajectory of this team clearly last year and the root of the issue, Ford. It's all too much like his time at OSU. I don't like being negative and snarky to our own fans. I'd much rather talk smack to fans of other programs. Sadly, I can't right now we're at the bottom of the A10. KenPom has SLU projected at 50% or better to win in only 2 remaining games (Fordham 57%, GW 50%).

  38. Gentlemen: Medley provides no offense. Meadows zero. Hughes zero. Zhang zero. Jimerson can't get open. No plays are ever run for Hargrove. Parker is a one-on-one+ player. Thames is a junkyard dog at best. Only Ezewiro has a game suited for a 4/5 player. There is no discernable offense. No one can play man-to-man and they are all lost on any zone. The bottom lines are twofold: who recruited this mess and who is teaching them the schemes? I don't see another win all year. Tonight was it and we lost at home by 20 plus.

  42. WWNTD2L (what we need to do to lose): 38/15/75, give up 12 TO’s to their 3, they score 21 pts off turnovers to us not cashing in on a single one of their’s. Yep, that’ll do it…
