Recruiting - 2022

Sometimes us high school fanatics are in a better position to see late season explosions before everyone else. Those of us who follow high school ball saw Yuri coming way before SLU made an offer.4 likes -
Bringing the Jesuits into now. Look, I get you want to have your look at me moment here so instead of just reporting the post which would have got the quickest response, you have to claim the board administrator is somehow culpable for your emotional baggage and then are scummy enough to use his job as a threat. Sorry that a guy that devotes hours of his time to keep this site running for no pay didn't act quickly enough or exactly in the manner you wanted. It takes an absolutely crazy and misplaced sense of entitlement to make the posts you have in this thread.4 likes

Having lived in Ohio for a number of years I can say OSU fans are some of the most obnoxious you'll ever meet. They got the greatest band in the land, the greatest all time Football God, Woody, they got the greatest campus bar scene, High ST, and on and on and on. If they don't win every friggin game, it's because their best player let them down. EJ should come home if he wants to feel real sincere love. All that said, when we played MSU in the 2012 dance in Columbus, I think every OSU fan was pulling for SLU. Probably because MSU beat them in the B10 tourney that year, and they're inbred hatred for all schools up north.3 likes

Transfers - 2021

It’s gonna be like a brand new team every year. Even if your team doesn’t change much, the other league teams are bound to, changing your league position and competitive circumstances. I’m not a fan of the transfer rule change.3 likes -

Loss sucks... it hurts. Season over and a disappointing one in that. But all I can say is major thank you and kudos to all the student athletes and specifically thank you those with the most scrutiny - our men’s basketball program. All of these kids have been kept from going home, poked and prodded daily for tests, and haven’t been able to be normal college kids. Every parent I know who sent their kid to college this year said their kid got covid within the first week or so. I see photos of their kids out on the town and enjoying their lives, as they should. Our boys were locked up and focused on basketball. Easy to judge and blame but also, if you give a little grace, easy to understand all these crazy results (the Ohio state losing to an old Robert’s that lost to Mizzou by 30, Purdue crumble, 20 point comebacks, Louisville losing by 50 to UNC, etc.). These guys ran out of gas, and I can’t blame them. I understand pointing fingers at the coaches who are PAID, but I think this season was hard on them too. We’ve already seen a “great coach” in Izzo underperform, and I’m sure we will see many examples of “great coaches” have teams that falter this March. Hard to coach players that have had their lives flipped upside down for a year. I for one can’t wait for next year’s season. So thank you to our men’s team for putting up with media BS and thank you to every SLU athlete making a sacrifice to perform at the highest level and entertain us fans.2 likes

About 7 Busch lights deep since the NCAA started at 11. Got a three TV set up in our family room (wife loves it as you can imagine) and the smoker rolling with a ribs on! Let’s go Bills!2 likes

I think it’s pretty clear now for all to see that the Mountain West conference is a joke. Hope the committee takes note going forward into the future2 likes

Good post. Some gave all, all gave some. Kudos to the athletic department staff through a year of tumult and frustration. The end result may not have been what we wanted - but then again - we may not have even had basketball.1 like

Just gonna drop this link here, Liddell was attacked by OSU fans on Twitter: https://www.espn.com/mens-college-basketball/story/_/id/31097748/ohio-state-ej-liddell-responds-disgruntled-fans-ncaa-tournament-loss And, in case anyone was wondering, no one does this to a hometown hero.1 like -

Wow, just logged on for the 1st time today. Looks like I missed a lot. Just my 2 cents: @TaLBErtIS a troll! He says things intentionally trying to get under people’s skin on this board. That being said, he doesn’t deserve to be told to kill himself. I know, beyond a shadow of a doubt, that @Billiken Richdid NOT mean it literally. People absolutely do say stuff like that sarcastically all the time. The reason things like that make me uncomfortable is because I suffer from mental illness, I’ve had a few acquaintances commit suicide. I know that @Billiken Rich didn’t mean what he said, but you never know how the other person is going to take it, or what they might be going through. Now, it’s the first day of the tournament, can we all move on now?1 like

Depends on whether your coach stays or not. If your coach is a lifer, you'll dominate for a long time. If he leaves for the big money, you're stuck in a crap conference.1 like

As most people know SLU WBB has never been to the NCAAs. Prior to today I believe they had only won 3 NIT games in history as well (all under coach Stone during the Jackie Kemph era). Make it 4 NIT victories now. Best part about the WBB NIT experience is that all of the players getting run should return next season. Getting some single elimination experience is very good for a team that will be looking to make the first ever NCAAs next season, but likely needs to win the conference tournament to do so.1 like

I know the Big 10 is a tough league but should a 2 seed really have nine losses in a shortened season prior to the tournament? Feels like there aren't four teams qualified to be a 2 seed this year.1 like

People have no right to not be offended by what someone writes. You got offended by a comment made in bad taste. Get over it, report the post, block the user and/or leave the board. The board doesn't revolve around you or your feelings. IMO, the board doesn't need people trying to cancel other posters.1 like

Oh, I totally agree with why it is happening, I'm just of the opinion it's not a good thing to enable that mindset. And I believe an unintended consequence is that it will chip away at fan interest. Hypothetically, if Mitchell and those underclassmen are patient and stick together, I think they have a good chance to become a "successful" program as upperclassmen. Pretty tough to build a successful mid major program when everyone is so quick to bail. The good mid majors in recent years have hard continuity and experience. It will become much more difficult now to follow that blueprint.1 like
-
Why does it matter if they are "successful" programs or not? If Tre Mitchell or Battle, as examples, stay at their respective schools as upperclassmen, they are that much more likely to turn those into "successful" programs in their final two seasons. Now that task becomes that much more difficult for mid major coaches. We're going off on a tangent now, but my primary point was a theory that a further lack of continuity will slowly erode fan interest in college basketball - agreeing with a point cd was making in his post.1 like

I read his MVC post. I don’t agree with his take but it was thought out and made some logical points. The problem with message boards is people see a name and go into attack mode regardless of what they say. I don’t know if Talbert is a “troll” or just someone with different ideas than you. I do know his post on that thread was a reasonable take even if most of us disagree with it.1 like
