I think in the actual prediction thread I said 14-17 or 14-18 with a great possibility that we would win less than 12 and a decent chance at less than 10. I wasn't the only one either. Broken record. At one point Meadows did have 43 assists and 13 TOs. That doesn't mean he was good by any stretch of the imagination. He can't shoot from the arc or inside. He was the worst defender on a team of bad defenders. He was good at not taking risks offensively. This action did keep his Ass/TO rate high but caused his teammates to have TOs and Meadows TOs would be missed shots at the rim. 5 assists and 1 TO is not great when you also shoot 1-7.

Crazy thing about this offense - they have four different players with four home runs, and one with three. They can hurt you up and down the lineup. Their on base percentage is through the roof. They pounded LMU pitching and got two pretty good starts from their staff. We have certainly had more experienced overall pitching staffs but I really like the upside of this bullpen and our #1-2 starters. They have a midweek vs Mo State before heading to New Orleans next weekend.

Who needs a decent stadium when you’ve got a team like this!!

In response to Ackerman’s question about is there something to be proud of this season, he said of course disappointed with the season but proud of the guys for showing up with good attitudes throughout the season. Connected the good attitudes with winning 3 of the last 5, including 2 on the road, and pleased with the improvement of Hughes and I think he said Thames. Short discussion about NIL and said Troy and Scott are working very hard behind the scenes with the BVF. I got the sense that they all realize that the program made a mistake by not recognizing NIL as pay for play and are trying to fix it. I say “fix it” as something the athletic department needs to tend to, not so much as part of the recently mentioned “plan.”

Obviously Kyla McMakin and Julia Martinez are the starters we need to replace, and Camree Clegg contributed off the bench, primarily as a 3 pt specialist. Most interesting of the freshmen to me is Mia Bergstrom (St Viator in Arlington Heights, IL), who led all Illinois high school players by a large amount in terms of 3 point shots made. Shun’teria Anumele (Royal HS in Brookshire, TX) has gotten good reviews, but I haven’t seen her play. Hannah Wallace (Cardinal Ritter, St Louis, MO) will be the local favorite obviously (nice to see inroads in recruiting local players).
