Car allowance- 401k match. - country club. Could be a lot of stuff.

That number actually seemed pretty low to me when I thought about the things it could be intended for (as willie points out). Ford has a lot more baked into his base salary number than most other coaches with 7-figure salaries.

My best guess for that extra 49k is 20 wins.

Dotzier or Johnson?

I was a little bit disappointed with Dotzler.   He didn't seem to have the same approach that the rest of the team had.   He took a number of unsuccessful difficult in the lane shots when he had open options beyond the three points lines to pass to.

That said he has talent so nothing a little pep talk with coaches couldn't fix.

Johnson definitely is one of the lesser shooters on the team, but he is built and athletic to be the defensive stopper.

Right now with only one scrimmage to view id start Johnson.  Regardless it seems to me Dotzler, Hughes and Thames while maybe not starters will play a lot.

A Johnson story, after the practice, I talked to Johnson and asked him about playing for Huggins.   He lit up and we were then in a conversation.  He loves Huggins.   Praised him not only as a coach but as a mentor and guiding light.

A little too much hype I suspect. The coach has never made a NCAA tournament in his life

I wonder how much of being "disappointed" with Dotzler was the fact that Swope is simply that good? I think when it's all said and done, Dotzler is going to thrive in Schertz offense as I think he has the potential to be a really good shooter and playmaker. It just may not be this year that it happens as Swope will be our leading guard.

too cool I loved him from first time he coached against us, coaches r the main continuity in the sport & the colorful ones r a + regardless of actual likability imo

Where was this reported? There was a rumor of a memorandum of understanding prior to the end of the ISU season and officially signing a contract. Last I heard of any "buyout clause".

I have no idea where it was reported - too long ago.  At this point either believe it or not.

Always liked Huggins. All he ever did was win. Never understood the dislike for him on here.

Huggins did beat us.

His players were bigger, faster, stronger, and they played dirty.

He also took a lot of players that were marginal students, that maybe we couldn't take or if we did they never worked out.  Huggins embraced them and turned a lot of players into productive people on and off the court like a coach at SLU really never could.

He also did all his winning without getting big time top recruits.

Van Exel, Fortson and Martin … big time players that era…Spoon on Fortson, “I could do a chin-up on his arm, and it wouldn’t affect his shooting.”
