Along with Goodwin and French, that would be four all-conference players on the same team. Are you drunk on Kool-Aid? Definitely. But it's still a good time to be a Billiken fan.3 likes

I would take him. Here is why: I am so conditioned to us having a short roster due to suspension/injury over the past few years. Therefore, I'm more willing to take this big risk. If it works out, we win big. If he messes around, suspend him and we are a scholarship player down. What's new? I think the whole Team Blue mentality is too strong to be ruined by a "bad apple." A player like Gordon wont ruin that. He will either fall in line or be outcast by the team.2 likes -

I'd settle for 90% from Fred. That would've made us a tournament team this year.....2 likes -

45” possibly with a few steps but not his vertical. That said I’m pretty sure he can grab a quarter off the top of the backboard and leave two dimes and a nickel.2 likes

Fred Thatch does not have a vertical of 45". This would be the best in the NBA combine since 2001 https://www.topendsports.com/sport/basketball/testing-draft-results.htm He can jump, for sure. But he's not a once in a life-time leaper. Also, if you think Fred's head is at the rim in the above picture, I've got a dog the size of a bridge I'd be willing to sell you.2 likes

Jimerson and Thatch are better than any players coming into the A10 by a long shot. It’s not a cake walk but we will be substantially better2 likes

Both my friends and I wish the Billikens the best to beat the heck out of vcu. Thank you.1 like -
So it looks like we're all in agreement here that essentially next year's All A10 teams will be half SLU.1 like

Excellent article, several points similar to what I made earlier and a few others I hadn't thought of. These were some of the best arguments and most striking comments... There’s a reason why this is already being supported by the Big Ten and the ACC. Now guys like Mike Krzyzewski, Roy Williams, John Calipari, Bill Self and Tom Izzo can plug holes in their roster with ease. There’s also a reason none of those coaches have spoken out publicly. “I think it will adversely affect everybody except for the top programs,” Richmond’s Chris Mooney said. Houston’s Caleb Mills is a redshirt freshman who is leading Kelvin Sampson’s group in scoring, a team that is a lock to make the NCAA Tournament. None of the big boys came after him out of high school. Now they will. “Ultimately, it’s what some will do, if not most,” one blue blood assistant coach told me. “And even if I don’t, the others will.” “Allowing transfers to be able to play right away at another institution is bad for college basketball, as a whole,” Jones said. “High-major schools may benefit because they would get a student-athlete who had a good year at a lower-level school and now can play right away. But the school that believed in that kid, when other schools didn’t, and invested time and effort into helping him develop will suffer. If we care about the student-athletes, and not the schools, then yes, the rule benefits the student-athletes athletically, but not necessarily academically. If we care about both the student-athletes and the schools, then there need to be parameters to transferring like we have now.” Tampering has already been an issue. Now AAU and high school coaches will have even more power as middlemen because assistant coaches will call them to express their interest during the college basketball season. “A change is needed,” Indiana’s Archie Miller said. “But now teams are going to have half their team in flux in July.” “This will be the death of college basketball,” said one head coach of a top-25 team.1 like -

Honestly, if the Tatum-Barnes package deal rumor is true, Crews may have to be the stupidest man on this entire planet. Barnes would have been a welcome addition1 like -
The former. I suspect we'll see Bell on Santos Silva when they're both on the court, then French moves to SS when Perkins comes on the court (and guards Vann). Generally, I think this is a game where Bell gets less minutes than he usually gets and Perkins gets expanded minutes. I won't be surprised to see TJ and KC both getting time tonight.1 like

Athletes play with incurable diseases all the time. Take for example, Crohn's disease: https://www.everydayhealth.com/crohns-disease/living-with/celebrity-athletes-with-crohns-disease/1 like -
Nice scoop there , Dave. Way to nail that one. I don’t trust any kid until he enrolls anyway.1 like

Actually Jimerson never started a game. Jacobs has been the starter all year. So I have to change my assertion: Thatch+Jimerson+Perkins+Big TBD = Easily the best bench in Billiken history.1 like

The lack of fan interest is a real concern. My wife isn't like me following every movement of the team and she HATES that basically every year half the team is brand new. It takes away from her interest level and I'm certain that she isn't alone. She wants to know who the players are and follow them for 3-4 years.1 like

I know you said if you are correct but doesn't it seem silly that we are putting even considering the diagnosis of someone who has never evaluated the player and has gotten all his info from an internet message board? Doctor or not, it seems a bit crazy to me.1 like -

I don't see how you can say a school like SLU is safe. Players like Goodwin,French and a Jimerson would be prime candidates to be poached. All 3 are good enough to play anywhere and all 3 offer a certain skill that the top programs would want. It's a terrible proposal for schools like SLU.1 like -

I'm definitely more in the Ace camp than not as I think good mid-major players will be poached left and right by power teams. It'll be incredibly easy for them as all they have to do is call up their AAU coach and mention that Duke is now interested in Jordan Goodwin for his senior year. Word get's to Jordan and he then has a decision to make. Not always an easy decision... I wonder if the parity we have experienced this year and years past coupled with the NBA getting close to ending the rule that they won't make kids wait a year out of high school, thus ending the one-and-done pipeline, is making these power teams/conferences want to find a new method for ensuring they always have access to the best players.1 like
