  2. If I had to rank the things necessary for the Bills to get an at-large they'd be as follows: - Billkens win a lot: 4 losses or fewer in the A-10 and we'll be in. Guaranteed. 13-5 in the A-10 is right on the bubble and would require a couple wins in the tourney. - Billkens win over big name, Quad 1 teams: Dayton is currently the only opportunity we have for that. VCU at home wouldn't cut it currently but would be a nice win nonetheless. And it'll be on national TV on a Friday night. It's a must win honestly. I'd easily trade a win over Dayton and a loss to St. Joes over a win over St. Joes and a loss to Dayton. Need some resume builders. - Need some blowouts: The NET is influenced by margin of victory so we need to start getting some big wins. The difference in our NET ranking of 70 and our RPI of 44 is significantly influenced by us barely beating teams like La Salle, UMASS, GW, etc. - Past opponents need to win: All of our non-con opponents need to do well, but as others have pointed out it would be really nice if the good/decent teams we beat could step it up. K-state isn't far from being a quad 1 victory and BC could move up to quad 2 if they upset a couple teams in the ACC. I don't see any others that have a legit chance of moving up a quad. - Bubble watch of other teams: It's still too early in my opinion to worry about this much or even to know who is going to really be on the bubble a month from now.

  5. Great news, with Tay, Javonte, and Jacobs starting to find their 3pt game our offense can flow a lot better.

  7. This is a worthless topic. We miss so many free throws because our best players are bad shooters. It may "cost us games" but so has not being better 3 point shooters or better mid-range shooters. Players can't really do anything about it at this point except practice and try and get better (which has to be hard at this point). Yes we are worst in the nation at FT % but that is pretty solely because Hasahn French has no jump shot at all and shoots a ton of FT. That's fine. That's not part of his game. He does a lot of other stuff really well. Gotta take the good with the bad when you're a high-mid-major program like SLU. Makes more sense to be frustrated by mistakes that are mental rather than physical (i.e. dumb fouls/turnovers/shot selection). Those are inexcusable. Missing shots is going to happen and we won't be better at the FT line until JGood and French graduate. But by then we are going to be complaining about not being one of the best rebounding teams in the nation. Just re-calibrate expectations. We are a 57% shooting team from the FT line....We can't do anything about that without limiting French's usage which surely is not what we want to do. EDIT: that being said...it is a legitimate gripe when we have Goodwin or especially French shooting the ball in late game situations. We should really be trying to have Perkins/Jacobs/Hargrove/Weaver getting fouled in end of game situations.

  10. Lunardi's most recent bracket has VCU as "last 4 bye" and URI as "last 4 in." Here's more reliable than Palm. Those two play tonight, and whoever wins will get a nice bump. 10 Conference games left. We can categorize them as follows: Loss Would Be Unmitigated Disaster (4): @ St. Joes, St. Joes, Lasalle, @ George Mason. Have to go 4-0 Loss isn't a Disaster, But Pretty Close (3): Duquense, @ U Mass, Bonnies; 2-1 likely, 3-0 would be sweet Hard Games, a split at worst is needed (2) VCU, @URI; 1-1 needed Chalk it a Loss, But a Win Changes the Formula (1) @ Dayton 7-3 in the last ten would probably still leave us outside, but we may be top 4 with 12-6 record. It would get us a chance at a Q2 victory on Friday in Brooklyn against a tired team, and set up a big game Saturday that may put us on right side of bubble. I could see 12-6 + 2-1 in A-10 as a path to dancing.

  11. Pretty crazy how similar these 4 resumes are..especially SLU and VCU. I would think URI has the best resume though NET Ranking disagrees with me. I guess the Q3 (almost Q4) loss to Brown hurts Rhody a lot.

  13. I think the must win games to put us on the bubble (assuming no unexpected losses) are Duq. and either VCU/URI. If we add a win against VCU, then we are on the right side of the bubble. If we do something crazy and also add a W against DAY then we are definitely in.

  14. At the end of the day we need a better resume than Duquesne, Richmond or Rhode Island. I think that's 13-5 and a win the A10 tournament but if Rhode Island keeps playing at their present level, it will take more than that.

  15. I'm being pedantic here but @Davidson is still only a Q2 loss. So not "bad." Our problem is just that we lack a signature win or two.

  17. Spoonball. Appreciate your opinion but I could not disagree more. An 18-20 win record team in a P5 conference is exactly the team which does NOT belong in the Tournament. If win-loss record is not to be used, then what? The Jay Billas "eye test"? Reward team b/c of their name? their coach? their prior performance in prior years with different players? Sorry, if you cannot win over half your conference games, then find an easier conference. Or might I suggest these teams schedule a bonding trip to enjoy the last of the snow skiing for the year or go play golf somewhere? Road conference games are hard to win in ANY conference and home conference game wins are expected. An 18-20 team from a P5 conference already starts with half this number of wins from playing a selective, home-only OOC schedule and then roughly wins the rest of its wins with home conference game wins and an occasional road win -- not the sign of a team which deserves a bid.

  18. The Joeys have a bad record but present a difficult matchup for us. The problem is similar to playing Davidson in that they have tall guards in the '6'3 - 6'5 range capable of taking our small guards off the dribble. Also, would love to see Has' get going again making better decisions with shot selection. We have enough trouble getting him shots and he seems to want to take the more difficult shot as if he's getting style points added. Travis was really upset with him at the start of the second half when he passed up the easy shot for one that was blocked but then he did the same thing again later. With all the film study they do it seems like a correctable problem and we've got to get him scoring again in the high teens to make the post-season.

Do you have any proof it works? stealing signs/filming practices/etc. isn't the same as publicly harassing someone multiple times a game because you think they got a call wrong (when they probably got it right a good portion of the time). I'm against it and think it's embarrassing at any level.

  21. Here’s how it looks right now to me (teams in tiers aren’t in order): TIER ONE: USC, Wisconsin, Texas Tech TIER TWO: Michigan, Minnesota, St Mary’s, Indiana TIER THREE: Arkansas, BYU, VCU, Memphis, NC State, Florida, Stanford, Virginia, and Rhode Island TIER FOUR: N. Iowa, Oklahoma, Alabama, VTech, Purdue, and St Louis TIER FIVE: Yale, Tulsa, Washington, Miss St, Cincy, Xavier, Texas, DePaul, ETSU, and Richmond NOW OUT: Arizona State Tiers one to three (17 teams) are in the tournament, Tiers four and five are trying to get in with those in four slightly closer. Bills are back end Tier four, low end tier five

  22. I heard that whatever team plays in that gym where Leonardo DiCaprio sucked that dick in Basketball Diaries is being added to the A-10. They're going to go 1-32 on the year, with their only win being a home game against SLU in that cocksucking gym where the refs also suck their dicks.

  23. Just a comment, it happened at Davidson, it happened at LaSalle. There has to be a reason why they refs are doing what they are doing, they ARE NOT that incompetent, there has to be something in for them in the mix.

  30. 2017 (class): The focus was on securing Goodwin and French. They talked to Stockard about a visit but it was late in his recruiting process. They weren't interested in Faris. 2018 (class): No Seniors for Vashon. It would have been Joseph Reece but he transferred to East Side. There was some interest by SLU early on. 2019 (class): Ford and Tate had set their eyes on McKinney his Freshmen year. They would talk to the coaches and briefly to Mario. Mario had a nice Freshman season as the 6th man. Helping Vashon win State. Ford came around again Mario's sophomore year. The Dad was waiting for them to pull the trigger. SLU wanted to see more from him. They kept saying that every open gym they came to in the Fall. Season started and in Vashon's second game of the season Mario had a big game against Nationally ranked Wheeler out of GA. Got 5 offers that night....SLU was one of them. Other schools showed more interest in the recruiting process....then Mizzou came into the picture and established a good relationship with Mario and they moved to the top of the list. 2020 (Class): Fletcher wasn't coming. Russell...small guard. He can really shoot it tho. Don't think they offered but Yuri has locked up PG anyway. Clark...there was interest but teams were leery because he bounced around AAU teams and for Vashon he played a complimentary role. 2021 (Class): Kerns. I am not around the team as much as I use to be besides attending a few games but I hear what others have posted about Nick being interested. Nick is getting better each game as he figures out his role with the Seniors for Vashon. I think Nick is poised to have a big summer with MoKan as well. Vashon has a great Freshman class. A couple of them will have big roles next year.

  31. In my opinion, the Mizzou history and Vashon connection are both largely irrelevant. The coaching staff will definitely be familiar with Mario both on and off the court. If they think (1) he can be a potential starter for an A-10 championship caliber team and (2) it will go over fine in the locker room, then we should be recruiting him. If either of those answers are no, then I think it should be a pass. I feel like most people will agree that we trust Travis to make the right call on this one.

  32. The last player we got that played at Mizzou was A10 tournament MVP. The anti-Mizzou faction of this board is the most unintentionally funny thing I read every day. And I'm not a Mizzou fan...just couldn't care less. SLU is in no position to have purity tests on it's transfers.

  33. Its good to see this kind of attention. It tells me that if we can manage to go through the A10 with only a loss at Dayton and maybe a VCU/Richmond or Dukes loss plus winning some games in the A10 tourney would maybe get us that at large. Winning at Dayton would really solidify things. What we cannot do is lose games like the next couple to Davidson and Fordham

  35. I think it’s likely that Ford won’t be the coach when Yuri and Co are seniors... if we continue success. Sucks to think about but it’s certainly a possible scenario. We need someone who will continue this local pipeline! I hope I’m wrong though.
