The worst starting center since Agbeko had 8 points and 5 rebounds in 24 minutes vs. Gonzaga in the 2022 NCAA tournament. Gonzaga was #1 and the top tourney seed at the time.

Agbeko had an 11 & 4 night against Dayton when they were ranked 15th in the country.  He played 32 minutes.

Yea, @thetorch - come on man.

Dandridge would be a monster pick up for this team.

Why?

Monster pickup?!?!?!?

Did anybody watch when we played Memphis last year? The guy who scored 8 & 5 against Gonzaga had 4 fouls and 3 TOs against US in just 12 minutes.

Is he better than Okoro? No way.

Than how is he a monster pickup? Or even an upgrade?

Does he take us from an 11th place finish in the league to 8th. Or 9th place to 6th? That still sucks.

Tourney or Bust.

Dandridge doesn't get us in the tourney this year and will only hurt us getting into future tourneys because we will play him over our younger guys.

Dandridge is a career backup on an AAC team. A 4 star out of HS who's been chronically injured and underachieving. This is our monster pickup?

Dandridge is a starter level A10 big.  Nothing more nothing less.  Not sure on all the details surrounding his long period of time in the portal or why so many teams passed on him.

I hope we see more two big lineups and that at least one of the freshman bigs earns minutes.

I'm certainly not sold on Ezehiro, whether he can get eligible or if he can play.  Dandridge is not a difference maker and will be our worst starting center since Agbeko, he might not be as good as Reggie.

I hope we aren't wasting scholarships by not playing our freshman bigs in favor of a slightly better player where we can eke out 1 or 2 more wins this season.  If Zhang or Van Bussell are 85% the player Dandridge is as the season starts Dandridge shouldn't play.

You say our bigs aren't any good, but yet you want to play 2 of them together? Then you say tourney or bust while saying we should play younger players over better older players for the future.

I’m with Torch. Dandridge would be another meh pickup for a program that is nowhere close to competing for a Tournament spot.

Yea, I now see Torch’s perspective.  I suppose Im just finally ready for SLU to surprise to the upside.  Consensus A-10 experts seem to think we are destined for the PiG.  Maybe with Zhang/van bussen/Dalger manning the front court.

If our best 5 is suddenly Hughes/Parker/gibby/Hargrove/dandridge

I think that line up is capable to duplicate last year’s team performance…and it will make for at least an interesting season.

I mean, if they’re gonna lose, then make the losses exciting.

News flash- No one in the A10 is getting an at-large bid.  Having an experienced big man who is likely a massive upgrade on the defensive end over what we had gives us a much better shot of making an A10 tournament run.  We have some offensive weapons (Jimerson, Parker, Dalger), but needed a defensive presence inside.

The mere thought of another mediocre finish makes a bootlicker bootlick.

Except nobody is doing that on here. Just make stuff up. We need another big and some believe Dandridge is the guy and others don’t. Nobody said anything about Ford until a hater just couldn’t help himself. Typical behavior.

Regardless of wins and losses this will be an interesting season.
Even if wins aren’t stacking up watching the development of the young guys will be fun and hopefully give us hope for the future.

If the young guys all end up being stiffs (I don’t think they will)  it will be interesting for a completely different reason.

You get an A-10 starting caliber center at this point in time, it is hard to be overly disappointed with it. I could see debating it two plus months ago, but at this point you aren’t doing any better than this and depending on the Georgetown kid we could be a bit desperate. I hope he stays healthy and is motivated, he has a big opportunity here in his final season of college basketball.

He makes us better. We still may be bad but he makes us better

Well maybe.  Concerning that he has a bit of a reputation (according to some on the Board).  A disgruntled team mate can screw up a team.  Hopefully he is a team guy if SLU gets him.

I really think the question is health. All players have that question to a degree. He isn’t a huge health question mark (like how he will recover from a surgery). So he is a good pick up that makes us better if he stays healthy enough to be productive.

Now we will see how he can hold up if asked to play more minutes and how he does avoiding nagging type injuries.

Interesting comment on WV Board ...... https://247sports.com/college/west-virginia/board/103746/Contents/wvu-is-in-contact-with-memphis-transfer-malcolm-dandridge-212476454/

"As a Memphis fan I have watched Malcom for 4 years now. He is oozing with talent but suffers from his low bball IQ and poor motor. Former Memphis asst Cody Toppert talked about how lazy he was as a player. That being said I really hope a new situation would be good for Malcom. Some games he can look like the best player on the floor and other games you can’t stand him being in the game. If he can find some consistency and not take plays off Malcom could be a great add this late in the portal".

And another comment ......

"When he was playing well Penny gave him minutes. But a lot of the time he would come in the game. Leisurely Jogs up and down the floor. Blow defensive assignments. Not box out. Turn the ball over. My best way to describe him is a bipolar player. Most Memphis fans are praying he doesn’t come back. After 4 years of the same crap everyone is sick of him. His minutes varied game to game because you could tell right away which Malco you would get".

From WVA comments seems his decision should be simple. Compete for starter with us or back up at Memphis or WVA. Seems SLU and Memphis both had players with focus issues

Per 40 stats are very flawed. Really only good for comparing guys on the same team.

Check his TO numbers.
