Davis is not coming to SLU.  Neither is Rob Martin.

I just looked up Martin’s stats, having a nice season at SEMO. I assume some bridges were burned with folks those guys are tied to?

Davis has been offered a big NIL deal from another school.  No bridges were burned.

Wow, that was sure fast since their off-season is less than 8 hours old. 🙄

Lol happens all the time.

Yeah, a large % of guys who enter the portal do so already knowing where they are headed. And candidly, why wouldn’t they? That information would seem vital to the decision making process before severing ties with your current school.

Is that school in a big 4 conference?

Davis already has multiple offers from the big 4.

If you don’t subscribe to Stu on SLU you are missing an interesting piece on NIL. He has a lengthy quote from Coach Schertz on decisions players are making and when they are making those decisions. He says it is now a two way street, with both the player and school making decisions on who stays and who goes.

This is very true. Stu’s content is excellent.

Could not agree more.  I encourage everyone to give it a try if not already subscribed.

I'd love to be able to outbid everyone for Bennett Stirtz at Drake, but I have a feeling his price is going to be high.

If McCollum replaces McCaffrey at Iowa, Stirtz may follow.

Would’ve been cheaper to just hire McCollum last offseason. Got a whole tournament team to come along with him.  Basically what we were told was going to happen here, except it actually did for them.

SLU is 106 in Pomeroy, Drake 52. Would SLU possibly have moved up to Drake territory had Thames remained healthy?

CJS & team deserve credit for the turnaround since the Grand Canyon game.

What makes you think he is leaving Drake?

I like Thames, but that's a BIG leap for a guy who was averaging 6 ppg. It's not like we're talking about the impact of losing a player like Javonte Perkins.

Before he got sick Thames was averaging 14 ppg through the first four games.  He averaged 14 against our two WCC opponents.  He was on track to be a double figure scorer.  I think his presence gives us an extra 3 wins.  We've lost a lot of close games.

4 games is a small sample size, but he was the 7th best player in the a10 in metrics at that point.

i believe he is currently underpaid at Drake and is in for a big payday.   he will likely give Drake the opportunity to match money, but who knows.   this is me just talking with my bad attitude about the who portal free agency thing that college basketball and football has become.  the sad part if the ncaa had offered any kind of stipend for athletes before there was ever any lawsuits filed, this would have never escalated to this b.s.   im betting athletes would have been happy to have gas money for their 10 year old cars and enough money to take to take their girlfriends to the movies and get a pizza.   now they are buying houses, luxury cars, and enough money to live on comfortably after they get out of college.  (notice i didnt say a word about degrees and education.  the likes of jimerson or fred thatch are all but nothing anymore now.   its a 4-5 year career now.)

I don't know how you correlate McCollum and Drake with him and us.  I think we can all just about agree that the athletes in the A10 are much more superior to that in the Mo Valley.  Robbie and Isaiah found out as did Schertz.  I'll admit I don't know much about the Valley but to just believe McCollum and company do the same thing here as at Drake seems a little far-fetched.  Of course, we'll never know.

Now that someone said McCollum to Iowa, I have also heard McCollum to Indiana.  Love those rumors.

Could be underpaid. But he is to McCollum as Robbie is to Schertz. Brought him with him from d2, I don’t think he’s gonna leave coach.

It is hard to say, I mean Drake also beat Vanderbilt and Kansas State.  They beat a pretty good Bradley team twice and Belmont twice.  Our schedule is clearly better but not way better.
