ACE Posted March 6 Posted March 6 The fun is about to begin. In the past, some players would start hitting the portal this week, right after teams are eliminated from conference tournaments. The timing of the portal is a little different this year, a window from March 24-April 22. I imagine the portal will be flooded on that first day. This is a good article about the portal. I have been an advocate of getting a GM on staff. This shows how some schools have used it effectively, including UC-San Diego. 2025 Will Be Most Important College Basketball Transfer Portal Yet billiken_roy 1 Quote
slu72 Posted March 6 Posted March 6 So what are our priorities, or too early to tell until we find out about our injured players and who’s staying and going. Quote

Instead of a thousand assistant coaches hire a business savvy GM to direct mining the portal. Hey, college sports is now pro so it only makes sense to manage it as such. Quote

He originally committed to Schertz when he was at ISU, but he signed with Florida State. He has done very little, but he had his best game last night - 8 points. Also, there is a coaching change at FSU, so he seems like a prime portal candidate. BuiltFordBills 1 Quote

billikenbill Posted March 7 Posted March 7 With Gibson’s intelligence and his academic credentials, I’d consider offering him the job. Quote

Gibson would be silly to not at least pursue pro ball somewhere. Unlikely he makes the NBA, but he could make some good money in Australia, Spain, France, Greece, etc. Quote

ACE Posted March 7 Author Posted March 7 We need Kennard Davis to hit the portal and come on home. He’d be a good fit for Schertz. Quote

If I recall correctly, Kennard was interesting in coming but his Dad preferred SIUC. I think he would be a great fit here. Quote
