BILLIKEN NOTABLES

  • The Billikens are coming off an 88-63 road win at Fordham on Dec. 31. The +25 margin of victory was SLU's largest in an A-10 road game since winning 68-40 (+28) at Fordham Feb. 13, 2021.
  • This is the Billikens' 20th season in the A-10. They have won two regular-season titles (2013 and 2014) and two tournament crowns (2013 and 2019).
  • SLU is led in scoring by the trio of Gibson Jimerson (18.9 ppg), Robbie Avila (17.9 ppg) and Isaiah Swope (17.7 ppg). The Billikens are the only program in the country with three players averaging 17.0 or more points per game.
  • Gibson Jimerson is coming off a career-high 33 points in the win at Fordham. He leads the A-10 in scoring with 18.9 ppg. Jimerson is the Billikens' school record holder for career points (2,089) and career 3-pointers made (360) as well.
  • Jimerson needs two more 3-pointers to break the A-10 record, currently held by Rhode Island's Jimmy Baron, who drained 361 3s from 2006-09.
  • Robbie Avila has scored in double figures in each of his 11 appearances. His 4.6 assists per game and 1.9 3-pointers made per game lead all centers in NCAA Division I this season.
  • Isaiah Swope scores 17.7 ppg (sixth in the A-10) and leads the Billikens with 5.3 assists (third in the A-10). He is one of five players in NCAA Division I averaging those numbers
  • Kalu Anya leads the A-10 in rebounds per game (9.9).
  • Head coach Josh Schertz is in his first season at SLU. His .781 winning percentage ranks No. 8 among active coaches across all three NCAA divisions.

ABOUT THE HAWKS

  • Saint Joseph's University (Philadelphia, Pa.) has won four in a row and enters Friday's game 10-4 overall and 1-0 in league play.
  • Saint Joseph's defeated UMass 81-72 in its A-10 opener on Tuesday at Hagan Arena in Philly. Five Hawks scored in double figures led by Rasheer Fleming's 16 points.
  • The Hawks had an impressive win over No. 24 Texas Tech earlier this year as they beat the Red Raiders 78-77 at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, N.Y.
  • Saint Joseph's won its second consecutive Philadelphia Big 5 championship by beating Villanova, Penn and La Salle earlier this season.
  • Erik Reynolds II is one of the Hawks' all-time leading scorers. He enters Friday's game tied for fourth in career points (1,784) at St. Joe's and is second in  career 3-pointers made (295). Reynolds has been tabbed first-team All-Atlantic 10 in each of the last two seasons.
  • Rasheer Fleming averages 16.2 ppg and leads the Hawks in rebounding (8.9 rpg), blocks (1.6 bpg) and steals (1.8 spg). He was named the A-10 Player of the Week Nov. 25.
  • Xzayvier Brown averages 15.3 ppg. Derek Simpson (10.1 ppg) dishes out a team-best 4.4 assists.
  • Saint Joseph's leads the A-10 in assists per game (17.1) and blocks per game (5.9).
  • The Hawks are second in league in free-throw percentage, connecting on 75.8 percent (197-260) from the stripe.
  • Head coach Billy Lange is in his sixth season on Hawk Hill and 15th year overall, which also includes stints at U.S. Merchant Marine Academy and Navy.

SERIES HISTORY

  • Saint Louis leads the all-time series 17-5.
  • The teams split a home-and-home series last year with each team winning on its home court. The Bills rallied from 20 points down to defeat the Hawks last year at Chaifetz Arena. Gibson Jimerson led the comeback in that game, posting 27 points, which included 24 in the second half fueled by a 6-of-7 effort from beyond the arc.
  • Saint Joseph's has never won at Chaifetz Arena. In fact, the Hawks have only one win in St. Louis, the first game they played here in 2006 at Enterprise Center. SLU owns a 9-0 record against the Hawks in games played at Chaifetz Arena.

Pumped as well.  The start to this season made me very blah towards this product.  I saw a good fight against GCU that we should have won and then the road blowout against Fordham has me drinking the cool aid again.  We should have a good crowd with all the promotions.  See you at Humps.  LFG!

T-rank thinks we're a good team based on the last 2 D1 games.  During that timeframe, we're ranked #54th.

Super pumped for tonight's game!

Was Fordham the real Billiken team or a lucky night? Win tonight and watch the confidence continue to build.

Huge game and the 8 PM start allows me to get a few extra beers in me before tip!

Got the "four free tickets" email so I'll be there.  Pre-game at Urban Chestnut midtown for my lovely wife and I....

Hope the team can get the start they did on the road at Fordham. I also hope that fans show up at Chaifetz tonight to give the team a home court boost. Be nice to start 2-0 in the A-10.
