Lindenwood captured its first win of the season the last time out, topping Health Sciences & Pharmacy in St. Louis 116-51. Mekhi Cooper, a transfer from Miami (Ohio), scored a team-high 15 points at Texas Tech. Milos Nenadic and Robert Lewis posted double-doubles against the Red Raiders. Last season, Lindenwood won 16 games, the most in a single season in the Division I era and the most wins for the program since 2018-19. The Lions were picked to finish fifth in the 11-team Ohio Valley Conference. Jadis Jones started all 33 games last season as a freshman and averaged 12.5 points and 5.8 rebounds. All but one game in the series has been played in St. Louis. The Billikens visited Chicago State during the 1988-89 season. ABOUT THE REDHAWKS SEMO returns nine players from last year's Ohio Valley Conference regular-season championship team. The Redhawks were picked second in the OVC preseason poll behind league-favorite Little Rock. SEMO went 21-12 overall and 15-5 in OVC play last year. After winning the league's regular-season crown, the Redhawks advanced to the OVC Championship game where they fell to SIUE. Forward Brendan Terry earned second-team All-OVC honors in his first year at SEMO in 2024-25. He ranked third on the team in scoring with 11.2 points per game and second with 4.5 rebounds per contest. SERIES HISTORY The Billikens lead the all-time series 12-4 in a series dating back to 1914-15, the first season of Billiken Basketball. In fact, SEMO was SLU's first collegiate opponent. The Bills defeated "Missouri State Normal School –Third District" on Jan. 16, 1915, at Muegge's Gymnasium, which was located where SSM Health Saint Louis University Hospital currently sits. SLU owns a 5-1 series lead since SEMO went Division I in 1991-92. The Billikens won the previous meeting, 75-65, in the season opener in 2018-19. Javon Bess and Tramaine Isabell Jr. scored 18 points apiece to pace the Bills. The Billikens also won the season openers in 2013-14, posting an 87-64 victory, and 2009-10, winning 59-41. North Texas, as a No. 2 seed in the quadrant, is the likely host for the second round should the Mean Green win on Wednesday. A-State reached the title game of this year's Sun Belt Conference Championship after knocking off top-seed South Alabama in the semifinals. Earlier this year, the Red Wolves had another impressive win at Memphis. The Red Wolves lead their conference in scoring, averaging 79.2 ppg. They shoot a lot of 3-pointers, even more than the Billikens, at 28.9 attempts per game. Arkansas State is one of the top rebounding teams in the country, ranking sixth in the country with 40.9 rebounds per game. Taryn Todd leads the team in scoring with 14.6 ppg, while Joseph Pinion is the Red Wolves' top 3-point shooter with 84 makes. Head coach Bryan Hodgson is in his second year at Arkansas State. He was a finalist last year for the Joe B. Hall Award, presented to the nation's top first-year head coach, after leading Arkansas State to the CBI. Hodgson came to Arkansas State after spending the previous four seasons at Alabama. SERIES HISTORY The Billikens and Red Wolves are meeting for the 12th time. Saint Louis leads the all-time series 10-1. Saint Louis and Arkansas State last met on Dec. 22, 2011, a 70-46 Billiken victory at Chaifetz Arena. Dwayne Evans recorded game highs of 18 points and nine rebounds as SLU won its fifth straight game to improve to 11-1 that season.
