  1. Make no mistake, this is a huge blow to the conference.

  3. Boom!!! I wish the retiring Coach McKillop well. It was a joy to watch his teams play. As for the A-10, I'm a little sad, he was a good coach and a quality guy. The conference took a bit of a step back.

  4. You've clearly never been an athlete. This is one of the worst posts in the history of Bills.com For you to make the assumption that he faked an injury and sat out the NIT game is ludicrous. Perkins was healthy with no signs of impairment just 1 day before he actually got hurt. You sound like a 19 year old kid who spouts nonsense just to get noticed. You should be ashamed

  6. Scott Drew is one of the only examples I can think of. It isn't a good way to hire a coach.

  8. Of course Yuri was exploring his options, and he, according to what has been posted in this board, was offered a significant amount of money to come back. I do not know if what was discussed in this board is correct or not. What we know with absolute certainty is that he is playing for SLU for the coming season. Therefore, we must assume that SLU was the best option available to Yuri and his family for this coming season. This year we have seen any number of players that have gone where the money offered to them was best. There is no reason to assume that Yuri should be different than the other players who entered the portal to explore their options. In the age of NILs, money talks, and players do what is best for themselves and their families, period. The MBM universe has yet to digest the fact that money will be the reason for the better players choosing what program they will play with for in a given season. Money is King, there is no use to pretend otherwise.

  10. There are also examples of dads who coached at the HS level who had son(s) who have been successful at the college level. Our own Travis Ford (dad Eddie) is an example. Danny Hurley is another example. Ray Meyer / Joey Meyer at DePaul is maybe the closest example of what is happening at Davidson. Ray coached 42 season (if I counted right) and then his son Joey took over after having been an AC under his dad for 11 seasons. McKillop has coached Davidson for, I believe, 33 seasons & his son Matt is taking over after having been an AC for 14 seasons. Joey Meyer was really successful during the first part of his career at DePaul: NCAAs in each of his 1st 5 seasons & 7 of his first 8 including 2 sweet 16s (NIT in the only non-NCAA season during that stretch). The wheels fell off a bit when DePaul joined the Great Midwest & then C-USA. He failed to make the NCAAs in each of his final 5 seasons & putting up an ugly 3-23 record in his final season. With hindsight Joey Meyer's drop off seems more to do with DePaul not putting resources into the program than any shortcomings he had himself. Bob McKillop really propped up the Davison program. He was largely underpaid & helped them to have success on a modest budget. Davidson will probably need to invest more into the program for his son to be successful even if his salary is still on the low side for A10 coaches.

  11. Berhalter has said he will go with the hot hand come November. So the door isn't completely shut on adding a striker. I seriously doubt he moves Weah to the 9 now. He would have done that at least against Grenada. Perhaps Sargent or Vazquez will light a match and show they deserve a spot on the plane to Qatar. It is likely too late for Vazquez to be called up. If Pepi continues his, now, 9 month scoring drought, he won't be on the plane. If Ferreria continues his pace at Dallas FC, he will be our starter. He actually does a lot of excellent work as a 9, except finish. And that is like the point of being a striker. I think it was during the Grenada match the announcer said Pulisic likes playing with Ferreria in the center, as he pulls defenders with him. The Hot Hand issue could also spell trouble for Turner and Steffen. Johnson will be playing into late fall, and if he is stonewalling the goal, he may be our starter. Turner and Steffen will be hard pressed to see the pitch as backups.

  13. Weah has some history playing the 9 and has a much better physical build for the position. I wish we would've experimented with him and Aaronson up top. It seems unlikely to happen now given the very limited remaining games before the World CUp.

  14. His son replaces him. I expect his retirement will be more of the semi-retirement type. He’s a hell of a coach who deserves a lot of respect. He turned down at least 3 P5 jobs I know about.

  18. It is pretty obvious, the NIL our new, Back Up Point Guard will make should be enough to make this work. Since he won't be playing much, tutoring Thames, he will have plenty of time to develop this project.

  19. Long gone are those days, although Dempsey sure would look good up top. This will be one of the youngest teams at the WC. While we all wish the team good luck in Qatar, I'm looking at this tourney as a stepping stone to 2026.

  26. Uhhh Rose' is a back up drink that can only be counted on for about 5 minutes because these days you can't get a respectable Rose' to be a back up drink unless you're really going to pay. So I'm not even sure why you'd stock Rose'. But I'm also not saying don't stock Rose', because Cougars definitely need back up drinks. But 05 is holding out for Appletinis and that helps nobody.

  27. After hearing the background story, I say double down on the Hippos!! Drunken university presidents, calling the student center the Hippodrome, the GW campus is now the Hippocampus, inflatable Hippo mascots, who could ask for anything more? Except, of course, a specially marketed edition of Hungry, Hungry Hippos aimed at GW students and alumni. Sports should be fun, what could be more fun than that?

  29. OK, in the interview Frank says early reports of Parker at practice are favorable and asks Tate about him. Tate prefaces his response by saying he doesn't want to put too much pressure on someone. Then he proceeds to say he's the next Perkins, with three years of eligibility. Every roster spot on this team, including the sixth man, perhaps even the seventh, consists of someone with a legit chance of making all conference.

  30. With it being the peak of offseason and a lot of discussion going on about new players roles and such I have been wanting to watch some of newcomers play. These are probably all posted on other parts of the site but wanted to compile some highlight videos of each of the new guys. Hope this gets the blue kool-aid flowing on these hot summer days! 31. Links! Program note: sorry if there's a drop in quality. As you'll hear in the episode, I have been homebound for the last 48 hours with an injury from a nasty bike crash Sunday. I recorded this from my bed under the influence of heavy medication. Big time respect to Momo for doing this interview. English is his second language and doing a zoom interview doesn't make things easier for him. I realized about 5 minutes into this interview this was a Peter heavy one. Partially due to me being medicated and my humor not translating across language barriers. So we mutually agreed I was more of a passenger for this. New interview with incoming SLU freshman big man @c1sse_momo4: -Starting basketball late -Playing in Monaco -How he ended up in Arizona -The meaning of family -Becoming a shooter -American vs. Euro game -Senegalese food (near campus!) SLU landed a gem in Momo. Check it out! https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/midtown-madness-podcast/id1552953967#episodeGuid=2fc556bd-ec01-4f54-91e0-6da3286ddac3
