So you have seen them both play. I saw one Ivy League team this past season - Dartmouth.  I wasn't interested in watching a bad ACC team.  So you have more knowledge of these two than I do.

I'm still hoping Schertz over recruits with the three remaining scholarships.  I want a second weekend roster.

Actually I saw two Brown games (versus Vermont and versus Ohio) and was very impressed with Anya.  No I have not seen Casey play, but he has big potential (former top 50 or so recruit) according to numerous basketball analysts.   And yes, would love to see Schertz bring in three more immediate impact players.  I just don't think that will be easy given that there are three near for sure starters, and the talent assembled for the other 2 starter spots looks impressive ..... just my opinion.  Players want to play, and may be reluctant, for example, to be a 9 minute a game backup for Avila.

$2 Million is now the going rate.  Will Osobor even get Washington into the NCAA tourney?  "Great" for him, but wow.

If they get Smith also they may be close to T25

I highly doubt he actually collects anywhere close to $2 million.

So how will we define 'success' for this $2 million?  National title?  Big Ten title?  Number One seed?  Averages 25 ppg?  Number One overall draft pick?  Leads country in scoring and rebounding?  This whole situation is teetering on the brink of madness.  I'd love to see just what his name, image and likeness is being used for and what's it's bringing in.

Last year he averaged 17.9 ppg and 9 rpg for Utah State.  Just for comparison's sake.  Make DaRon Holmes' take of $1 million an insult, yes?

I really like Osobor as a college player also but I'm not sure he will make a total of $2 million in his post-college career.  The math ain't mathing on this investment.  But these are rich people problems.  If I was rich, I suspect I would also throw away money on dumb sh$t.

2 million is completely nuts. Even if I had the money, I question whether or not I would pay that to one player.

Between now and mid June many of the 78 invitees to the NBA combine will drop out of  the draft and return to college. Now that this $2 million benchmark has been set, do you think there will be some shopping around for higher jackpots?

Come on down. Let’s make a deal.

I’d throw money at dumb stuff too but I’m thinking more along the lines of a hovercraft or my own island not some dude who averaged 18 and 9.

Do we know what the term ‘deals’ means in this case?  A cashiers check for $2 million is absurd.  Generous marketing arrangements with 10 different companies, not quite so absurd.

I have no idea.  But here is a paragraph from ESPN+.  This reads like the deal is more than smoke in the wind.

Osobor, the Mountain West Conference Player of the Year, has name, image and likeness agreements in place that will give him the highest-known valuation in college basketball this season, at $2 million, according to a document reviewed by ESPN. His NIL agreements, which include marketing assurances, were negotiated by agent George Langberg of GSL Sports.

The 2023-24 NBA Rookie Scale shows he 30th pick received $2.011 million in year 1.  So he is making more at college then he likely would have going pro.

You're all taking that number as gospel.

That’s actually a great point, no one besides Osobor , his agent, and the Washington NIL know the exact number, all we know is what’s been reported by his agent, who has reason to lie because the higher reported number boosts his other clients, both this year and in future years.

Reminds me of the old Weimar Republic days where people literally burned money to stay warm.

It is not only the Weimar Republic, Zimbabwe has gone through the same process, and so has Argentina (every 20 to30 years). Money becomes worthless, taxes go up and those who have solid assets like land, find that they  cannot sell it. It is a  cluster F--k.

Watched enough of the draft combine today on ESPN2 (I was bored, mid-afternoon) enough to see five of the top ten picks will be Euros and G Leaguers.  And, of course, Bronny James.  Meh.
