What’s insane is that if Hughes jr was coming under any other billiken HC in the last 20 years, he’d probably be the top recruit and this board would be going insane about him. He deserves a ton of hype (probably more than we’re giving) but Travis is also doing an unprecedented job bringing in talent. I can’t believe this kid is a “walk-on”.4 likes

Going to call it right now -- Andrew Carr to SLU...if indeed his other picks are Davidson and Wake Forest. Here's why: Carr chose Delaware over two Ivy League schools -- Colgate, and William and Mary. So, he's dead serious about academics. Look at his Linked In page. His career objective and experience so center on physical therapy. SLU is the only school of the three that offers a physical therapy major accredited by the American Physical Therapy Association. The reason he's visiting Davidson is that they were one of the first schools to show interest in him before he chose Delaware... Not sure about the connection with Wake. While averaged 40 percent from three, that accounted for an average of one per game...he finished the season strong but wasn't even CAA all conference, so hard to fathom him battling Duke and UNC. He's going to need a strong supporting cast to make the jump up from the CAA easier and more successful, another reason the crystal ball says Andrew Carr to SLU.4 likes -
Is he wrong though? Isn’t this statement the exact reason we are all are all scared of what NIL is doing to schools like SLU? We develop home grown talent and they bounce when more prestigious conferences with bigger pockets come knocking?3 likes

I would like to see the A10 do something completely original. 1. We could set the divisions as upper and lower based on non-conference rankings. Meaning that the upper plays the upper more and the lower plays the lower. Helps avoid bad loses and builds strength if schedule. It also helps bad programs look a little better. 2. The conference could be set up as a series of tournaments where the losing teams play out to a final spot, then average all the tournament rankings for a conference champion. Maybe weight the last one as a double amount. 3. Set up three-legged races on consecutive Sundays, to be performed in the event of a tie.2 likes

7 1/2 minutes of Billiken talk Rammer "It appears that a somebody or a group of somebodies stepped up for Yuri. Was there a home town discount?" Being able to play a five out game, they should be one of the top scoring teams in the country. With Okoro in - play four out. Traore could have slid right in behind Okoro, so his transfer is unfortunate. But some kids just want to go somewhere else. There won't be many mid-major teams winning (outbidding) a P6 team. Will the dynamic of the shifting money result in the same shift in who wins and who losses? Maybe not.1 like

I really love that we're in a position to make big $$ SEC schools - who ranked top 10 in the previous season - lose their minds over a failure to poach one of our players. This Derrick dude can eat my shorts1 like -
Yeah, looks like he's focused more on non-basketball professional next steps. Even if Duke had a scholarship to give him, he's at the end of the roster. Getting a free year at Duke and spending a year with their basketball team after finishing at Harvard is not a bad way to spend the 23rd year of your life.1 like

Agree, not everyone knows their choice at that age. However, those that do not know and enter an MS program in PT with nothing other than a generic/biology BS degree have a very tough time. The more you learn in the undergrad, the easier grad school is.1 like

With the changing landscape, I think we have a new class of player to go along with the One and Done. Welcome the One and Gone player. Not much difference as the player leaves after one year. SLU is not / will not be immune to this changing landscape.1 like

A reference ripped from today's headlines...... In all seriousness (and not really responding to HP because I think he was only joking to get his old people reference in LOL), Carr is a lot higher talent in 2022, and there's not really any excuse to not land him at this point, unless he wants to be closer to home. This is a team destined to make a run and there is PT built in for him.. On paper, even when trying to look at it from an unbiased lens, this is a no brainer. SLU is a worlds better choice than the other option(s) If Crespin is okay sitting, then take him. Someone has to be in spots 11-13, and there is PT to be had in the coming years if he can guard a big man at this level1 like -
Most people have to get accepted straight from high school. I am sure that if this kid is a quality student, the administration, the Athletic Department, and the PT school can come to some sort of agreement.1 like

I think he has some real HM interest. Like Ohio State, Auburn etc. I think he wants to be "the guy" somewhere, or at least one of them1 like

If you are a coach that is recruiting in the transfer portal and you get a commitment from a kid, wouldn't it be in your best interest to ask the kid to hold off on the announcement until the deadline to enter the portal? The reason for doing this would be to avoid scaring one of your current player into the portal if he suddenly becomes worried about playing time due to the new transfer coming in. I know it doesn't sound like the most ethical thing, but I don't know what about college basketball is ethical anymore.1 like

Yeah, but it will feel so different after we win the national championship next year. Don’t commit yourself too early. You will risk overthinking it.1 like

with the sudden changes to the college basketball landscape, not sure bol fits the slu vision. he is likely a one and done player and one would think he would command a very high salary. while i would love to have a player of that kind of talent, i just fear the overall "fit" isnt going to be there.1 like -

true, but still likely to take potential minutes from Carr. I just don't see Carr physically ready enough to play much 5 in the ACC. So between Muciius and Laravia I just dont see how Carr plays much at all next year if those two return.1 like -
As I said before, I believe the Hughes family does not need the money or the scholarship. In my opinion, they are allowing the scholarship to pass onto someone that needs it. Larry Hughes II can play as a starter without a scholarship, he is good enough for it.1 like

We have no one that plays like Carr on this roster, WF may end up with 2 others who are near identical players as Carr. Also, I would think Carr could start here, Carr may not seen the court next year at Wake.1 like

Just a quick edit: Colgate and W&M are not Ivies. Cornell is. Although W&M predates the founding of our own country by a good 80 years, not an Ivy. Beautiful campus, tho. If you are a history buff, Colonial Williamsburg is the place for you. And I hope SLU is the place for Carr!1 like -

They almost got their wish. Took the second half to pay more attention to Marcus Smart’s game - can score, distribute the rock and defend at the highest level. May be the most underrated player in the league. Was fun watching him and Blake Griffin go at it, just for the OU - Okla State rivalry aspect. Tatum is the heart of that C’s team but Smart is every other vital organ. Much respect.1 like -

NBA was trying to get at least another game out of the series. I 100% agree that 6th foul was trash. Glad they were able to pull it out in 4 games and get some rest.1 like -
I like the idea of dividing it up into three geographic groups and playing those teams twice. I'd stick with the 18-game schedule for now using that format. I wouldn't officially divide it up into divisions, though.1 like

Wow. If you aren't an attorney, you sure play one online very well. My "conjecture" is that you prefer not to see Tennessee as doing anything dirty or underhanded, so you are sticking your head in the ground.1 like -
Frank mentioned on his show today that Carr will visit Wake next. He also mentioned Crespin coming in next week, which we already knew. He said the coaches have been in contact with Bradford and they might “kick the tires” on Keita.1 like

In college basketball, you can have more than 1 team. There's a lot of room, many teams will never play each other. It's not like a league of 30 or 32 teams. If you adopt your wife's team in addition to your own, there's nothing wrong with that. There's a lot of people who are fans of their undergrad and grad school, etc. Nothing wrong with that. If you can cheer along side Cubs fans who root for the Bills, I'm pretty sure you can stomach fans who follow more than one CBB team.1 like

By the way he handled it can’t see how this doesn’t drum up some internal drama. Probably realized that he was undersized and had too many turnovers against weak opponents to warrant a starting role on a power 5 team1 like

The best approach, for tax implications, is that we establish it as a separate church, and the players become masters of ceremony.1 like -
Kasubke is a 2/3. Ball handling seems to be one of the weaker parts of his game. I don’t think we want to rely on him as a primary ball handler. I’d certainly take him as a shooter off the bench though.1 like

And I could use $10,000 and a nap, as much as you could use a kick in the shin. You showed your colors here, buddy, and those colors are orange and white. Maybe just lay low for a while??? It's damn clear that nobody wants to hear from you.-1 likes
