  1. Goodwin is on Frank’s show right now. He said he will meet with agents to see what his chances are of going pro. If they say he will benefit from playing another year in college, he will come back to SLU as long as Ford will let him.

  4. We don’t have to have McKissic. He would be a nice addition, but I don’t think he would even start. I am not sitting Fred or Jimerson for him.

  5. I'm sure Jordan said it in jest about Ford wanting him. Also, going pro does not necessarily mean NBA. If an agent says I think you can sign in Europe and make six figures he'll be gone. This conversation with Frank is undoubtedly good news, but I'm no where near "sounds like he'll be back" stage.

  6. He has not ruled out playing again. Says he would run back and play for SLU if it was determined that was his best course of action. He's having a meeting with Ford today. Said the McKissic thing would be in the back of his mind, but he has to do what's best for him and JG will do what's best for himself. Goodwin said Okoro is the 2nd hardest worker, after himself. Great teammate. Will be a leader.

  8. Well, if he goes to mizzou, best of luck to him. There will be more in the pipeline... preferably from power conferences too.

  10. Another important note: Roughly a third of the players in the portal are grad transfers. They're players who have already had their Senior Night.

  12. I was on a business trip in LA and saw that last UCLA Championship team play their rival at Pauley Pavilion. My seat was behind the basket and I sat next to a couple who were UCLA Alums. I said to them you are sitting behind a basket while what appears to be the student section sitting in the better seats. Their reply was that is the way it should be. UCLA beat USC that night.

  14. Goodwin said he felt the effects pretty bad for about a week. He's meeting with Travis today, but meeting with an agent is also in the works. Based on what he said, he seemed clear that IF he came back it would be SLU, it would not be another program. My guess would still be that he goes, but it's at least encouraging that he didn't rule out a return.

  16. He didn't confirm nor deny. Basically, if an agent says he needs a development year, he'll use it at SLU Meeting with Ford scheduled today to discuss either way.

  21. I don't see what is so amazing about this. Every time I've seen Smith play, going back to his time at Illinois, I have not been impressed. I think he landed at the right program.

  22. Small sample size but in the few Mizzou games I watched this past year I think I saw Mark Smith take 20 shots and miss 20 shots. Clearly his FG% is higher than 0% but I wasn't impressed with the kid. He also appeared to whine a lot after missing a shot.

  23. I will use this opportunity to let folks in on a mistake that I made that will hopefully prevent anyone else from making the same mistake. The last time someone posted something amusing from Grandy I searched for him on Instagram, went on his account, and sent my friends what I viewed as one of the more amusing photos. I am a no judgment type of guy, but unless you want the occasional photo of essentially nude black dudes in your Instagram search section, do not do that. The Instagram algorithm is hard at work on my account between attractive women hitting golf shots and black dudes hanging around the locker room. Good times.

  24. I want to go on the record as saying I no longer endorse the above statement. After some folks disagreed I looked into the game logs for Arizona State to find I really caught some of his off nights. It looks like Verge is kind of a hot or cold player, but there is no doubt he can score it. I apologize for the unnecessary negativity, I will learn from this and be better in the future.

  26. Thanks for the updates and the breakdown. The women's soccer team is probably the strongest program at SLU right now. I want to stay up on them as much as possible, which is made easier by posters like you contributing.

  28. As the biggest Billiken “gear head” on the planet I’ve been BEGGING for them to change things up with their merch licensing for at least a decade. Their view on merchandise completely stinks, they put 0 effort into having the most unique mascot branded on clothing and accessories. Both West Pine Bills and THTRB/Midtown madness have been trying to get Homefield and SLU together for vintage gear over the last 2 + years now.

  30. Hard to believe 3 people good posted that. Except for their size they aren’t even remotely the same type of player. Yuri is a true pass first point guard who makes everyone else better. 10th in the country in assists with an almost 3/1 assist to t/o rate. Could he be more effective if we pushed the tempo more? Sure. But a slight upgrade from Dwayne Polk is maybe imo one of the least accurate statements made on the board in years. Dwayne Polk was a 2 guard who couldn’t shoot in a pg body. Did Polk ever average 3 assists a game? a 1.5/1 assist to t/o ratio?

  31. You all seem to assume slu wants this young man. You dont think out of the likely approaching 2,000 players that might transfer there is not a single other combo guard that would check all the boxes ford is looking for that he'd rather have? I think ill trust Ford on who he wants and gets.

  32. He has nothing to gain from staying at TCU. He did not play his first year there, and in the second year (this season), he played good minutes in a few games, achieved next to nothing and spent the rest of the season sitting on the bench. Of course he wants to transfer, it is the only way he may get to play. As you all know I wish him all the worst and hope his performance wherever he goes is not better than at TCU.

  33. Anyone spending time reading this thread is aware that there will be a LOT of transfers to choose from. It will be extremely interesting to see what players Ford manages to get. And also from my point of view Covid is likely to be a major issue next season as well. Just think about how these changes increase the complexity of a Coach's job to an insane level, as it was this season.
