My local school is quietly starting off with a bang.   University of North Florida, picked middle of the pack in the ASUN conference,  started off on opening night by beating South Carolina on the road.   Yesterday they went up to Atlanta and took out Georgia Tech.  They are 3-0 with road wins over the ACC and SEC

That's cool.  I contend that even with the new age of NIL, we'll still have plenty of David vs Goliath stories.

Is it too late to dump William Woods from the schedule and add University of North Florida instead?  Sadly, probably yes.

Given 2020, there's at least precedent and but I really don't think there's even any rule preventing it. Assuming you have a signed contract to play the game with William Woods, you'd have to probably buck up to buy that contract out.

I’m sure @Lord Elrond’s post was in jest, but I have to believe if we wanted to find D1 Opposition to take the place of Avila and William Woods, we could have.  I’m sure plenty of Q4 teams would’ve lined up to come play us.  As for why we didn’t, I don’t really know.  Maybe because with NET, those type of games have much more potential to hurt than to help.  I’d have still rather seen D1 opponents.

It was partially in jest, but all in all I would rather play any D1 team over an NAIA or D2/D3 team. Very valid point about the NET ranking, but still I would prefer another D1 team, even if they weren’t very good, over an NAIA team. I get that it’s probably too late this year, even if we can buy out William Woods, all other teams have their schedules set at this point of the season. I’m pretty sure we’re stuck with what we have for this year.

For the future though, if you want to sell more tickets, get a D1 team close enough for their fans to travel instead of an NAIA team. I’d rather have SEMO or SIUE over any NAIA team.

Of course. I was playing along with the idea because I found the it fun and because as far as I know there seems to be nothing but personal responsibility preventing such a move.

But how many did he give up defensively? +/-

While he probably wouldn't fit into Josh's system I would have loved for him to stay. Remember the St Joe game.

Parker's coming off the bench because he's coming off of shoulder surgery and wasn't cleared to play until mid-September.  Will Wade stated at the time that the plan was to limit his time early and ease him into play.  He's 2nd in scoring on the team at only 20 min a game.  I'll be surprised if he's not starting soon.

Parker's a bonafide scorer who has had some bad luck with injuries.  And our team defense was horrible, with or without him in the lineup.  Good luck to him.

Checked in on the Dayton game, and our old pal, and notorious tool, Mickey Pearson is still playing for Ball State.   Averaging 13 pts and 10.5 rebounds too.
