Don’t know for sure, but a lot of times those contracts are signed at least a year in advance, and Drake was really good the last few seasons under Devries… whereas we were… let’s just say not good.

it’s one of the reasons I’m concerned for next season, you gotta win to get good teams to play you, and we have not been winning vs a very mediocre schedule.  Hopefully Tuesday was the start of a turnaround in that regard.

Well if Shertz is right that his plan is schedule Quad 1 and 4 games basically then we get our Quad 1 games from our preseason tourney and the Quad 4 games are not an issue to schedule

So we play Quad 1 games away, and Quad 4 T home? How does this help sell tickets in Chaifetz?  Revenue from home games is important.

I thought the Quad 1s would be on a neutral floor (holiday tournaments).  I don't think Quad 1 team would even risk us on a its home floor. They are not going to want some 100 NET team by chance beating them  in a early OCS game. Schedule only 250+ games and beat them by 30.

With Hurley (UCONN) backing out of future tournaments, I wonder what the future holds for them.

If that strategy ends up getting us in the tournament (most likely not this year) a few times then fans will show up if we are a top 50 program even if the competition is not the best.

It doesn't.  His point was that he does not want to play Quad 2 and 3 games because of how the NET works.  I was not referring to improving revenue just the schedule overall.

Hurley is a cry baby. I’m sure if they won 2/3 he wouldn’t be making a big deal out of it.  Check your ego.

We will have to see if UConn is a trend-setter in moving away from MTE’s, or just sour grapes. If this happens to be a trend, we may not be able to get any Quad 1 games. If we can’t get good opponents to come play us at Chaifetz, we may have to schedule lots of D1 teams in the area who might generate some interest with locals. Think OVC, MVC, and maybe Summit teams. I hope it’s just Hurley venting steam, I would like to see good teams come here.

I think Hurley is BSing.  If anything, fans will get on them if they’re really skipping out on all in-season tourneys.  It’s fun to be able to see your team play 3 games in 3 or 4 days.  I doubt Maui and other big name tourneys will have any trouble filling places.

I do think we could see more tournaments moving from 8 to 4 teams though.

Just like that Dayton's in a position where they have to finish in the top of the standings just to get their at large bid status back. It takes a dominant conference season just to wipe out a blowout Q3 loss. There is no room for error.

GW won without their highest scorer, Darren Buchanan who was hitting 15.1 ppg and rebounding 7.4 per game.  The road will be a challenge in the A10.

Meh, not concerned.  Dayton is just overrated

Loyola and VCU in a tight one in Chitown.  During their 3 game skid in the Diamond Classic, the 'Blers were without two starters and another rotation player.  Two are back but Moore, their PG,  is out for the year.

Bonnies are cruising at Rose Hill.

Loyola couldn't hang with VCU in the second half.  Lack of a PG hurts.  VCU still playing an aggressive defense.

Ex Bill Phil Russel has turned into a very nice player.
