  1. How about easing up on a future Billiken who hasn’t played a game yet?

  2. Perhaps you missed it, but Hankton had come back from his first (or second?) injury — his leg? — to play, but then he hurt his shoulder early in a game a couple of weeks ago. Gudmundsson arrived on campus late after his time in international play last summer, and he wasn't ready to contribute from the standpoint of running plays and playing defense. Then he had an appendectomy and missed more time recovering from that. Your agenda against Coach Ford is thinly veiled.

  3. And another useless post, by someone with no knowledge, spreading baselss rumors against a current player... and again, for what purpose?

  4. Thor had surgery and also had a leg injury. No college team releases injury reports. This isn't NFL. Disclosing injuries would only help our opponents.

  5. 3 star we get it. You cant wait for your very small mediocre shooting point guard to get here. For your sanity sake, i hope he gets to play. Meanwhile how about easing up on our current billikens that being asked to play a style that doesnt suit their makeup but they are trying their hardest?

  6. The most misunderstood aspect of point guard play: Anybody can get assists by passing it to a 3 point shooter who makes the shot. Your job as a point guard is to get the ball to a player where that particular player is most effective. We have finishers who rarely get the ball on the fast break and mid-range shooters like Bess and Thatch who rarely get an open mid-range shot.

  7. This is game we won just because we are significantly more talented than La Salle. There was no progress on offense today. Take the win and move on.

  9. This AM, on Sports on a Sunday Morning, Coach explained the hard hats. He gave them out Thursday. We had gotten away from what we do best - physical, aggressive, defensive play. He wanted to change the mood, change the mind set of the team. Hence the hard hats. They give out stickers for the hats for positive plays, effort, etc. He called the defense v LaSalle the best of the season. They were the hottest team coming into the game, winning 5 of 6, scoring 75+ ppg in those 5. He made no changes on defense during the game - something quite unique. This week the staff will be off recruiting early, both locally and nationally. They want the team to get healthier and get academics back on track. They will begin prep for Dayton on Thursday. He complimented Bonner (and Hines) for helping out twice. Bonner gets to practice early, warms up, stretches, and takes this very seriously. His mentoring of the team has been very valuable. Coach says Tommy Liddell and Larry Hughes may come and help out later this week.

  10. Props to the kid in the student section with the "What's Wrong, Little Pookie?" sign. I probably read that book to my kids somewhere in the neighborhood of 10,000 times.

  11. The fact that you post on here and then claim to know nothing pretty much says it all. And before you jump into the lame "I don't have time to read so many thousands of posts" defense, yes you do. True fans make time. It's like an obsession. Sit down. Shut up. And just go away. And now to the ignore list .......

  12. Very nice win..... Here's how we did it.... Stopped Powell....In the original post I projected Powell at 13 pts....he scored 2 pts...great defensive job....worth 11pts TO spread...LaS...13...SLU..11 spread is 2 ...worth 4 pts.....while this doesn't seem like a big deal...it is...In the original post I had targeted 12 TOs because 12 would most likely give us the "spread edge". By surpassing 12 TOs we not only pick up some extra pts but on the converse side it means we didn't give up 20 TOs. We made the slash...almost...at least the important parts....projected was 42/ 31/ 61...actual 44/ 33/ 48....so we missed the FT part which cost us 3 pts. We made the rest of it which was important. It also helped (again) that we out shot them .... FTA ...27 vs 9...so the % didn't matter. The math ....11+ 4 - 3 = 12 pts....or just about the final score spread. Because we exceeded the upper spread number (10)...our numbers will improve....will it be enough to turn the trend up....stay tuned ....for a few days...I have to wait till Wed to work on it as Dayton (our next opponent ) doesn't play till Tues night. With the Bills now 1 game out of 4th place and playing better ... things are looking up.

  15. ... not much to say. As someone in the GDT said, a win is a win and better than the opposite. Half a game out of the four and maybe in a three-way tied for it come Tuesday. March Madness is upon us early this year. Talent-wise, La Salle just wasn't there. And what Bess did to Powell shut them down even further. Of course, if Powell does have his game and Phiri does what he did, could be a different tune. Bess is truly special. There remains nothing aesthetically pleasing about our game. Someone called it bully ball. CBSSN/Wenzel asked what do you expect when you can't shoot, can't shoot from three, and can't shoot from the free throw line? It is just maddening and you really have to embrace the horror. I'll go to my grave rooting for these guys but it's never easy. Isabell had a decent game but he was motivated. Need that motivation every time out. I have no clue what Foreman is doing out there. Wiley might be decent but only against a zone. Goodwin needs a game that includes 'jump' ----- either a jump shot, or a jump stop. He gets what he gets through grit and determination but he could be special if he finds something else. He's peaked as I said in the GDT. To go higher, he needs more. French om the free throw line is hideous. We can't run a fast break to save our lives. And our offense is such that we take nine seconds to cross half court, run 10 more off a weave, then go to chuck-n-duck. I'll be in Dayton next Saturday with about 13 other fans. Hope to see some of you at the pregame. I have no illusions. A top four finish and I'll call the season a huge success.

  19. If French could get his FT to stick like that every time I’d take it. That would give us possession 50 % of the time.

  20. Bess has been in a walking boot when not playing basketball games. I think we should give him a break. Alsilo between him and Thatch Powell has 0 points at half.

  22. A mid high ankle roll and shin splints are both somewhat serious. There is only one person that makes the final determination whether Jacobs can play - and that is Jacobs. If something is not quite right, people have to respect that he says no go. Doctors and coaches can only go so far. We have seen players who went when only provisionally cleared, and died. I saw a track star on our high school team try to run through shin splints, only to be shut down from running for the rest of his life. dont try to blow smoke on a medical condition about which you know nothing.

  23. Remember the days when fans would cheer for their players? Or wait until the season is over before being too critical? Or comment only on basketball performance and not attack guys personally? Remember when we had stricter rules for younger kids due to them not being professionals? Privacy of internet is awesome!! We have 7 guys which includes an injured Bess and what appears to be an injured Wiley - both giving it their all. Praise them but why take shots at Jacobs saying he is either a wimp or is faking it? Why the personal attack? Because you feel big and strong with message board obscurity? Good time to publicly insult a guy recovering from injury and now practicing? His close friend already left midseason for DePaul so why not help push him out the door? Great idea!!

  24. This is a typical Billikens.com argument where both sides over-exaggerate what the other side is saying. There's no chance that Bess going to the NBA won't have a positive effect on recruiting. However, it won't be all that much of an effect. If we're in a recruiting battle with other A-10 teams, and Ford can tell a kid that we've recently sent a player to the NBA, and that he saw what Bess did and went through to get there, and that he sees a little bit of Bess in that kid and can imagine the same thing happening to him if he works as hard as Bess, sure, that might make a difference to that kid. You guys have to recognize that. However, like I said, to many other kids, it won't make any difference at all.

  25. Tony Irons had some nice things to say about Hargrove and Collins on 590 today. Said Hargrove can defend 1 through 4 and Collins is the smartest kid on the court in the area. I'm sure he said more but it was a pretty quick conversation.

  26. I just wish the team would release weekly injury updates. I feel like one of the reasons Thor left is this vanishing business. He was never hurt..I guess...but never used. We seem to be doomed to be forever short.

  27. I get that this is college, not NBA, and media coverage is sparse...but what is going on with Jacobs and Hankton? Was Hankton even hurt again? I know Jacobs was...but this went on with Wiley where it seemed he stayed hurt forever. It is just strange. Hopefully we can keep winning and finish at least 4th in the league. Also, is Elliot actually walking/jogging around? It is so hard to get real injury news.
