  1. So to summarize, you are suggesting that we push out the 60+ year olds crowd who actually show up to the games and pay the bills, and allow the 20 and 30 year old crowd who excel at running their mouths but disappear when asked to spend any of their own money, take over. When I was your age, we didn’t need gimmicks to create an electric atmosphere and we also didn’t portray ourselves as the poor victims looking to spew hate at our older fans who were supporting the program. The only thing keeping the arena from being filled are losers like you who would rather whine than show up to the game and reach into their own pocket. It’s stunning that you think alienating a large portion of your fan base is the key to success.
  2. Great, are you suggesting that the City of St Louis fund this for SLU , or is it just another cheap shot at May for not pouring millions into a program that virtually no one cares about? It is impressive that they will have a 100 seats with backs and a berm to sit on.
  3. I think you have things backwards….again. May PAYS us the same amount you PAY others to “ good post” your incessant hate comments about May..
  4. Walmart sells a pretty nice seat cushions for around $10. If we could coerce May into having a seat cushion giveaway and you follow up on your promise to paint the bullpen fence, I think the attendance problem would be solved!
  5. Tell me, what is Lindenwood’s, Maryville’s, SIUE’S, and WashU’s budget for basketball, and how much did they spend on their basketball facilities? Now tell me how much of the basketball budget would you like to transfer to the baseball team? 10%, 20%?
  6. So are you calling Schertz a liar? He says May and the university are giving him enough money to field a conference championship caliber team. As for the baseball facility, why would anyone with limited resources make a sport a priority that averages less than 200 fans per game, which most are family members? Last year’s funding through the Billiken Victory Fund is not public, but Schertz acknowledged that the amount he has available in 2025 is a signifiant increase that will put SLU among the top schools in the Atlantic 10. It is believed that last year’s total for men’s basketball was at or slightly above seven figures. Schertz said he has enough to build a conference championship-caliber roster. He credits May and the university administration for a commitment to increased funding. “There’s a definitive commitment to our program being good,” Schertz said. “They understand the value of that. You hear some crazy numbers being thrown out for some of these guys. It’s not like it’s bottomless. We have to be intelligent, but we’re in a much better space. “The university has committed to an amount, and that allows us to have the money. Chris is the one handling it. The school is going to backstop a certain amount, so I know I have the money. There’s not a question. The school believes it’s important and wants to be good and be invested in this.”
  7. Thanks for proving my point. How dare anyone disagree with the almighty 05! I will say your imagination is impressive.
  8. Silly sh*t??? Exactly what did Dennis say??? All I saw was a reaction to your post. Are you suggesting that anyone who disagrees with you is silly? I personally think anyone who becomes unhinged over an unpainted fence, who resorts to profanity and then suggests a poster must be committing a sex act with Chris May, is acting silly. That said, let’s get that fence painted! The 107 people who attended the last game will be eternally grateful!
  9. and you live to find fault with everything Chris May has ever done. Your rants are childish and have in fact become boring. That said, if $250 will take care of the fence, let me know how much you will contribute and I will match it. I suspect even Dennis will throw in 5 bucks to alleviate your angst.
  10. And tell me, would it have made a difference if Perkins, Parker, and Thatch been healthy?
  11. Again Roy, is Ford still the coach? Tell me, when will the hate stop? I have been clear about my support for Schertz, what’s amusing is that objectivity has disappeared from the board. Here are some facts, not opinion. Schertz’s filling out the roster was a bust. Brockhoff, a total bust. Martin, it took one scrimmage to show he couldn’t contribute. Dotzler, completely unproven. Pikar, a 190 pound weakling not remotely ready for D1 basketball. McCottry, the best talent on the team, but wasn’t used extensively until very late in the season. Johnson, limited offensively and was not allowed to be the primary ball handler even though the one we used was a turnover machine. Schertz should have had a huge advantage in evaluating D2 players, yet ignored this avenue. Instead he went after division 1 rejects. SLU was among the very worst in turnover and rebounding margins. Schertz’s record was no better than Ford’s against the top A10 teams. Schertz’s team lost every meaningful non conference game. Robbie Avila and Swope were responsible for nearly 8 turnovers per game. Hardly a sign of a well coached players who are Schertz products. We were assured that winning 20 games was meaningless, yet we didn’t even match that. How come these FACTS are being ignored by you Roy? People would have you believe that Travis Ford was the worst coach ever, and yet these same people are wetting their pants over a coach with 3 all conference players who was in charge of the worst fundamentally poor Billiken teams I’ve seen. That said, I’m a Billiken fan first and hope that our coach is a big success and that he gets the support he needs. Oh, and how come no one brings up the new coach’s salary and the resource given to him?
  12. Tell me Roy, is Ford still the coach??? You’ve become as deranged as those who have mocked you over the years. I’m glad you’re excited about Schertz’s 5 out offense, are you as excited about being in the bottom tier of committing turnovers and giving up offensive rebounds? You’ve lost all credibility, oh, and by the way, why didn’t you answer my question “ if you read that I said I’m rooting for Schertz”? Too embarrassed?
  13. Taking time to build a program no longer applies. Funny that having depth now matters, when losing Perkins, Parker, and Thatch apparently didn’t matter. People need to understand that even the best Mid Majors are on the razor’s edge and one injury or “situation” will destroy their season, but let’s continue to rehash the performance of a coach who’s been fired and call for the scalp of the AD who hired Schertz.
  14. Roy, did you not see WHERE I SAID I AM ROOTING FOR SCHERTZ?? My first point, is get over the incessant Ford hate, news flash he’s gone. Secondly, objectively Schertz had a lot to be criticized for. Hate Ford all you want, but he consistently had tough physical teams and he actually valued having someone who could handle the ball. Hopefully Schertz had learned the important of those qualities. Lastly, regardless who is the coach or AD, the deck is heavily stacked against any mid major team. Screaming for a new coach or AD incessantly will not be the solution.
  15. This is not breaking news, what it is, is an attempt to hide or excuse the dismal results of the last year. I am rooting for Coach Schertz to be a big success, but the facts are his performance to date has been an abject failure. With 3 all conference players, this team was a huge disappointment, and please don’t bring up injuries, as we have been repeatedly told by the board “experts”, that injuries are no excuses. Schertz’s team lost every meaningful non conference game, showed no ability to protect the basketball or rebound. In fact we were among the worst in the country in these categories. His roster construction was flat out bad. You got your way, Ford was fired, how about putting your focus on the current coach and examining his performance? Hopefully he will actually get a team just once to a NCAA Division 1 tournament appearance.
  16. When a person blames the AD for injuries and supposed nutritional deficiencies and yet refuses to give this individual credit for anything, including the hiring of our new beloved head coach, they lose all credibility. Now if you want to talk about stupidity, I would suggest that you look at a certain individual who is trying to attract listeners to his podcast, who goes out of his way to alienate everyone in the athletic department as well as any poster who may have a different view than his own.
  17. Unreal, the one who CALLED FRANK CUSUMANO A D***HEAD IS YOU! How come it’s ok for you to say that about others, but not ok for others to say it about yourself?? I stopped posting on this board because of the incessant and irrational hate for Ford, and because of nitwits like yourself..sorry about the interruption, please get back to railings on the deficiencies of our current coach… TheChosenOne Posted June 27 Frank is a d!ckhead (I like little about him and the stories about him as a golf dad run quite counter to his Christian values he speaks of), but I do appreciate that he covers our Billikens. Completely agree that any opinion he has should likely be taken with a grain of salt, but his information is directly from the program.
  18. please note this "fan" will never answer how trashing our coach 24/7 is a help to the program, if your comments are totally irrelevant, why do you bother to post at all??? the fact is, no one knows why he decommitted, but there is one thing we do know, that constant criticism of a coach doesn't help with recruiting... Also, it's odd that so many seem to think being a "Ford Hater" is only limited to this board...There are reports on this on all types of media forums, and it certainly at some point is going to have an effect....knowing a coach may be out the next year certainly hurts his recruiting efforts, and everyone of you know it.....
  19. Maybe all the Ford haters finally convinced him he could do better??? Be proud of your efforts, they certainly didn't hurt...
  20. https://590thefan.com/radio-shows/press-box/
  21. So every player that leaves is because the coach made a mistake???? Have you looked at the portal numbers? Is there any team that hasn’t had defections?
  22. “The proof was in the pudding with the great relationship I have with Coach Ford,” Noland told 247Sports. “He has had a lot of great guards with my ability and has had a lot of success with them. He sat down and showed me where I am at with my career and what I need to do. They also need me as much as I need them and that is why I wanted to be Billiken.” “He is going to get me where I want to go,” Noland continued. “We want to do this thing together and we have built a great relationship over the past three to four weeks.” Noland additionally says assistant coach Phil Forte played a huge role in his decision as well. Forte and Noland’s relationship date back to Noland’s high school days when Forte offered and recruited Noland as a member of the Sam Houston State staff. “Coach Phil played a big part in my decision as well,” Noland said. “With me and him having that relationship from the time he was at Sam Houston, there were a lot of ironic things that have happened now that he is at Saint Louis. God led me there.” Noland chose the Billikens after hearing from Georgia Southern, Houston, Texas Tech, and other programs in the transfer portal. He recently completed an official visit to Saint Louis last week and said he was excited and eager to learn about a program that focuses primarily on basketball. “I would most definitely say the arena was my biggest takeaway because they do not have a football program,” Noland said. “I wanted to learn more about the program and how it is centered around basketball. That is really cool to me. They also showed me how I would fit, how I play, and the play style that they play. My playstyle matches their identity and I want to get back to that.”
  23. Then that should be reflected in our offensive efficiency, correct? I was taught in a debate class that facts always trump opinions…
  24. SLU72 clearly said our offensive schemes suck, did you miss that?
  25. Ok, so how does that prove they had a poor offensive scheme???
