I’ve never seen a team let the clock run out down just 8 with 30 seconds left

Especially this early in the season when at the very least it's a learning opportunity for foul situations and close games down the road.

I don’t care if we come back and win this by 8 points or whatever. This is disgusting against one of the worst teams in basketball.

Not trying to toot my own horn or anything, but coming back and winning that was never in doubt. Jackson State would’ve had a tough time against the School for the Blind Fightin’ Helen Kellers.   Besting the 340-something ranked NET team by 8 at home will only further lower our ranking. I’m trying not to overreact, but I don’t see how anyone can watch this team defend/rebound incompetently, miss FTs, and constantly turn the ball over, and proceed to think “this team is going to improve to the point of dancing in March.”

I don’t know what needs to be done, but more excuses over “it’s only five games into the season”, injuries, inability to schedule quality teams, etc, are certainly not the answer. Other new coaches are doing way more with less.  This team would lose to any of Ford’s last four teams at the same point in the season. Everyone here knows I was no Ford apologist, so I don’t say that lightly.  Schertz needs to start earning his buyout/salary/NIL commitment, and fast.

Reffing was awful tonight, for both teams. Just terrible.

Glad to see Kellen in the second half of a game. It’s been awhile. Sad that they have to manage his minutes, but hopefully that’s a temporary thing.

This roster is sooooo thin, though. Not sure how this year can possibly go well, given the lack of depth.

At the beginning of the year, it was NCAA tournament or bust. Now I feel like we’re an NIT bubble team.

3810 attendance.  4th smallest regular season game crowd in Chaifetz history.

Don’t think it’s gonna go up after that one either…

I spent a large part of the game wondering why I bought a ticket myself. I have no real answer that makes sense to me.

It’s safe to say that the Schertz honeymoon period is over and done. The lack of fundamentals tonight was not acceptable. Yes, I’m glad they won’t over a really bad team, but they should have won by 30 over that bunch.

I’m not even sure he got one. When a lot of talk around here was “a major will swoop him up if he wins here,” it makes a lot of us feel like a groom looking at the quality of the bridesmaids…

I’m not sure what’s going on with the injuries, etc, but maybe Ford put a hex on our house on the way out. Gotta find a Jesuit who can exorcise the demons.

I honestly had to kinda force myself to go expecting an easy win. I, no shame, came to the game in my pajamas. I would have rather watched at home under a cozy blanket and been relieved there.

These posts by fans point to low attendance to the games in the near future.

For the sky is falling folks... Remember we lived through this.

We lived, yes. But we emerged changed men and women. Cynical, broken. And just as the healing began (2019), the scab was violently ripped off and we were subjected to new horrors (Perkins injury, SIUE, etc.). There may not be a cure for Billiken basketball PTSD.

I can always gauge the night's attendance by the pre-game crowd at Humphrey's.  When we walked in at 5:45, there were 4 people at the bar and 1 of them was in our group.  We need a solid win to breathe some optimism into the fan base.  Currently, I am just seeing sloppy basketball against bad opponents.

I was never one of those who had such high expectations for this team because there simply was too much to figure out.  Schertz was left with 3 players - one a starter and two role players.  He brought in 2 players from ISU but that team was a team and you should have not thought that it was stocked with great individual players.  I do think we saw Robbie have a fairly representative game last night despite his TOs.  Swope came back to reality a bit.  The FT shooting a bit perplexing but last night seemed like a snowball rolling down the hill thing - they did clean it up a bit late in the game which helped.  Schertz was not happy thus them basically missing the shoot around before the second half begun.

For those of you who think Ford would have won that game last night by 15 let me leave you with just one reminder - SIUE.  I think he would have lost last night with the team not seemly having their head in the game.  I am just going to watch it develop.
