I compare Avila more to Rob Loe than any recent big we’ve had. I remember Ben Howland commenting on Loe of how important he was to SLU’s success. Smart, good passer, good board man, and scores when you need it most. That strikes me as an Avila type.

Avila would be the best true big we've had since Ferry and Macauley. He's on that level.

We had a freshman stretch 4 redshirt last year? Why the hell did he not see the court? 

Keep him. No idea why he didn't at least get a showing.

Also interesting to see the practice setup under Ford. I wish we could watch more practices. A shame to see a few assistants have to step up in a few of the intrsquad games due to injuries.

Walkon who wanted to redshirt is what I read back in the fall (if my aging memory is holding up here.)

Who did you think it was about? It seemed clearly geared towards Gibson.

Coach said third player, the three currently are Thames, Hughes, and wiliford.  He could have mis-worded what he meant, but being literal would likely mean wiliford.

Went back and listened. His exact quote was, “I think Billiken fans will get some good news tomorrow as it relates to one of the players-we wanted to bring a third player back and I think we’ve got a good chance to do that. Won’t steal any thunder there.” 

I think it would be safe to assume he was talking about Jimerson, especially considering Frank’s tweet earlier this afternoon.

Avila is going to be an All-American by the time he is done.  Not many bigger Rob Loe fans than me, but Avila is already light years ahead of Rob at his best.
