Did you miss his freshman year?  Mr. Goodwin shot 37% FG, 24% 3FG (Including a horrendous 3-38 start).  His senior year he shot 43% and 31%.  That meets my definition of improvement.

What is your definition of improvement?

The last 2 PHX games have both been on TNT, Tuesday night in San Francisco vs. the Warriors, last night at the Los Angeles Lakers.  Both have had big time play by play announcers, the first Ian Eagle, last night Kevin Harlan.  I loved hearing Harlan last night say, "Jordan Goodwin, from St. Louis."

At one point last night I saw Goodwin at 6'3" 200 attempt to guard mega superstar LeBron James at 6'9" 250.  Just take a step back and think about that.  Goodwin was passing to and receiving a pass from another mega superstar, his PHX teammate Kevin Durant, who had 39 points in the losing effort.  LeBron had 21, second on the Lakers to Anthony Davis' 30.

When I was watching I could not tell for sure if #1 LA Lakers fan Jack Nicholson was in his usual seat courtside.  But I suspect he was there.

My fellow Billikens, Jordan Goodwin is big time.  He was on the court in Downtown LA playing against (the successors to) Showtime.

On TNT again this Tuesday (Halloween) against the Spurs.

I think Jack’s son was sitting in his seats last night.

"He’s a fundamental player. You know you can trust him with the ball, not gonna turn it over, make crazy plays that’s outside of himself," Durant said to praise Goodwin after Saturday's game. "He’s just gonna play the right way. Me and Brad (Beal) was talking about it on the bench how fundamental J. Good is"

Having the trust of Durant is huge in terms of carving out a permanent spot in the rotation after Booker and Beal return.

Suns play Wemby and the Spurs coming up at 9pm on TNT with Booker and Beal still out.

When I turned this one off, I never thought the Spurs had a chance. And yet they pulled out a 1-point win in Phoenix after outscoring the Suns by 14 in the fourth quarter.

Goodwin had 6 points and 4 rebounds in 15 minutes. He finished -2 and I think he was +7 when I went to bed.

Wemby didn't do much in the first half until a dunk that only he could've pulled off a little before halftime. He finished with 18.

The Suns need to get healthy but they're not going to be happy about that game regardless.

i am fast becoming a frank vogel hater.   his rotation patterns and use of goodwin make me crazy.

getting healthy would probably cut jordan's minutes in half.  i guess we should be happy goodwin is making a million dollars doing what he loves regardless of his playing opportunity

Goodwin increased his ppg by 5 and his rebound per game by 3 from his sophomore to his junior season, while also improving his shooting percentage. And Yuri more than doubled his ppg from his sophomore to his junior season and increased his apg by 2 per game while leading the country in assists. He also significantly improved his ft% during his career. Other than that, your take is spot on.

Vogel has won one more NBA Championship than you have.  He has won over 400 NBA games.  I think he knows what he is doing.

He's making close to $2 million per Basketball Reference - $1,927,896.  Not bad!

To non-professional basketball players that a lot of moolah, but Goody is making the league minimum.  If he carves out a roll in the rotation of a championship caliber team, he'll could make 10 times that on the right deal in a few years (see Bruce Brown).

Watching Grayson Allen get minutes that JGood should have instead is infuriating. Yeah, GA put up 19 points yesterday, but he was a liability up and down the court and finished with a +/- worse than everyone but the Spurs' backup center. When Beal and Booker return and scoring is not at a premium anymore I can't justify why GA deserves minutes that a defensive, ball handling, hustling glue guy like JGood could have instead.

Also - I hate having to stay up late to watch these west coast games.

i only watch nba for three players, goodwin (a local), liddell(a local) and curry(imo the most entertaining player in the world).  the rest i have absolutely no interest in and couldnt care less about the outcomes.   so when it seems one of the three is getting shafted, and it isnt apparent to me why, i think i can be a hater for my own selfish reasons.   i never said i didnt think he didnt know what he was doing, only that i dont understand the reasoning.

Maybe he is a personal friend or relative of your's for you to defend so strongly.   if so i understand and i apologize for setting you off.

Ehh. He won the mickey mouse championship - doesn't count. He has historically underperformed with top talent. Not a great hill to die on here.

Be careful, that is former Indiana Pacers legend Frank Vogel you are besmirching.

(Totally agree on the mickey mouse championship. The Dodgers' does not count either for the record.)

Same but I'll gladly take late games on national tv than none at all. Didn't watch a single Wizzards game last year. I've already watched 3 of the Suns 4 games. Looks like at least 3 more national tv games this month.

Sometimes you are funny.  Coach Vogel has won over 400 NBA games.  How many have you won?  Hmmm. So we should all take your opinion as fact?

You need to inform the NBA that the Laker's championship 2020 doesn't count. They don't know that.  I'm sure they will take your word and remove the Lakers from their Championship History.  Funny.

Do you even take yourself seriously?

Hoosier Pal, you ignorant s!ut .

The oldest sports trope in the book is "Well he's worn the uniform/won this/whatever so he knows what he is talking about!"

Are you the new paystubs guy? I guess no one on here can comment on anything Billiken basketball until they've played the game!

Your mistake was saying "He won the mickey mouse championship - doesn't count."  Believe it or not (and you don't), it does.

Now, if you had said, 'it shouldn't count', or 'it's my opinion it isn't as important as others' then fine.  That would be your opinion and everyone can have opinion.  I don't need to agree with your opinion, and I don't need to change your opinion.  I wouldn't have wasted my time commenting on your opinion.

Let me explain how your argument is stupid, and why you shouldn't make it anymore.  Read slowly and sound out the words so you can be sure to understand.

Vogel is competing against other NBA coaches.  When a fan critiques his game plan, and you say Vogel has won 400 games how many have you won?  That makes no sense.  The fan is not a coach in the NBA.  He's criticizing Vogel's gameplan in comparison to other NBA coaches' gameplans.  A test of knowledge between Vogel and a fan is irrelevant.  As an outsider though a fan can easily see that someone is being outcoached or outmaneuvered in tactics.  That doesn't require a level of knowledge equivalent to an NBA coach.

In comparison to other NBA coaches Vogel is decidedly middle of the road.  Though he did win a championship, he also failed to manage the following seasons successfully and alienated his stars.  Vogel was also the 4th or 5th pick to coach the Lakers.  Vogel is very much a defensive specialist and he likes to play a very certain type of style with very active big men and lots of length.  If he doesn't have a huge C & PF who can play D, he struggles.  His offense is so bad that at his last two jobs he hasn't been given the authority to hire his own staff.  The GM hires an offensive specialist for him.  His team management has also been criticized, he's known to be very blunt and unfeeling with his players.

Among people who follow the NBA, the Covid title very much has an asterisk.  While it may count in the record books, it was a huge outlier in terms of play and gave advantages to certain teams over others that weren't ideal from a competitive standpoint.  You should try actively following the league before spouting off and you would know these things.
