  1. My 6 year old son, who may be slightly Billiken obsessed and holds Javon Bess in the same regard as Michael Jordan, got a picture with Javon last season. We got it blown up and printed out. Yesterday afternoon I sent Michael Wilson a message asking if I could get the picture to them and have Javon sign it for my son. Not only did he immediately respond in the affirmative, but he says to drop by today at 10. I show up and Michael says Javon is downstairs and can just sign it now. Needless to say this will be a Dad present... sorry Santa. I've won Christmas. I freaking love this team and the staff. #TeamBlue Forever!

  2. Another cute story about drymdg2's son. They actualyl sit right behind me in sec102. In the middle of the game 2 games back, the boy taps me on the shoulder. He then asks me if I would like the Billiken ball toss ball he had just snagged. I told him it was all right, he could keep it. But he said he had another at home, and he wanted me to have it. He was just so sweet and caring, he just wanted me to have a ball. Of course I accepted, saw another young boy in front of us. I asked if it was OK with him if I gave it to the other boy. He consented, and two little fellas were happy that night. Truly caring child...speaks to the child and the parents. mhg

  3. Appreciate all the kind words everyone! He's a pretty awesome kid! Here's his video he wanted to make a few months ago. And @RiseAndGrind, he's definitely the cool kid of the family. No question about it.

  4. Basically talking about how physical the game will be, many fouls and tough D on both sides. He also said it’s the biggest, toughest, most talented SLU team he’s seen in 6 years, saying “they’re a Big 10 team.”

  5. Whoever is being guarded by Bartley--seems likely it's Goodwin--will have a big night. We win this game if we hold them under 40% from 3 and dominate inside. Still a very scary game.

  8. Danny Mac had an interesting interview with our town's Taylor Twellman. Bottom line is he would be shocked if STL doesn't get an MLS franchise. He has spoken with 11 to 12 MLS owners, and they all want STL. One reason is that KC has no rivals, and Chicago has no rivals. He said Chicago is a franchise that needs to be fixed, and getting a rival will help. He offered that the Columbus 'debacle' could mess up the timing. If the stadium deal doesn't get done, then the sale of the Columbus franchise likely gets derailed. The MLS wants this to get resolved first. Austin was never on an expansion list, but due to the relocation clause inserted into the sale from the Hunt family, it has forced itself to be tops on the list. He also said that the MLS likely will relook at the Detroit Ford's Field situation, now that the Atlanta United is outdrawing the Falcons. He offered that Phoenix has plans for a $300 million air conditioned stadium, which will raise their status. He said the Taylors and Kavanaugh need to force the issue. As Nashville and Cincy did, present the MLS with the plan, and then the ball is in their court to react. Twellman said the STL project is moving faster than the MLS thought it would move and maybe faster than they want it to move. Bottom line, Twellman believes STL gets a franchise.

  12. It's only Dec. 5 but tonight seems like such a big game. It's the kind of tough game that at-large teams find a way to win. Fletcher is a good player, so hopefully not at his best. Goodwin really needs to step up and be better than he was against Seton Hall and Butler. We gotta kill them on the boards and do damage inside.

  19. You sound like a Memphis fan from Majerus' last year This game terrifies me because a weakened or no Bess is a huge deal. Oh, and we still can't shoot by the way.

  21. I didn't want to push through another radio report, but Coach was on the Fast Lane at 5:45. Only two new items: SIUC has 5 averaging double figures, so we will need a total team D effort. He also said they are one of the more veteran teams in the NCAA. And "We had several banged up Saturday and we need to get healthy". He then said 'nothing serious'.

  22. Why are you saying this? Nobody has suggested anything else and I feel like it goes without saying on a BILLIKENS message board?

  23. Every game scares me because our team has not learned how to close out games too many turnovers and missed free throws.

  25. What UCONN should have done to get a game in Saint Louis was to see if they could schedule Notre Dame in Saint Louis. Could have played at Scottrade instead of Chaifetz. Let's face it, a ND UCONN match-up would be a much better game and draw than UCONN SLU. SLU's women's team just isn't up to the task of taking on one of the greatest basketball programs of all time. Somebody said they might lose by 40, try 60. Napheesa Collier won't be needed past halftime.

  26. Such a depressing board. SLU beat Seton Hall on the road. We just beat an 8 point spread
