Taj79
anyone know why?
Lord Elrond
Good question. I went to the Santa Cruz Warriors homepage, and on the team roster he’s listed, but he doesn’t have a picture next to him like the other players. Does the mean anything? I have no idea. http://santacruz.gleague.nba.com PS, hope the link works, I’ve been having trouble posting links on here for some silly reason
Taj79
Both summer league games he’s been a “DNP - Coach’s Decision.”

WVBilliken
1 hour ago, Taj79 said: Wow! 15th? Really. Not a surprise to me. He's a 6 foot point guard in a league that more and more is having 6'7, 6'8 guys running the point. There is zero pressure on the guy bringing the ball up the court. So why have a little guy ball handler unless he is amazingly quick and is a great shooter? Yuri isn't that guy. He has almost zero chance of ever making the NBA IMO. Taj79
Well, I kind of agree in your assessment of Yuri and the NBA. But I really don't watch. I just thought if he's on the team as he was last year, it would be a better sign to see him playing some. Of course, I don 't understand giving $8 million contracts to the 55th player drafted when that same guy got like $450k last year.
Coach314
The game i saw he was on the bench in street clothes with a couple other players. Perhaps his spot on the G League team is secure and they want to check out other players. stmdragons and BuiltFordBills like this
HoosierPal
There are three Summer NBA Leagues, July 6-10 in San Francisco and Sacramento, July 8-10 in Salt Lake City, and the big one July 12-22 in Vegas. The Warriors played in San Fran and will play in Vegas. It appears the Warriors have 18 on the Summer Roster. Team China played in California along with 7 other teams. The Kings had 2 teams. The California League isn't the main summer event. Four teams played in SLC. All 30 teams play in the Vegas League. The games referenced above were from the California session. I will see what happens in Vegas. https://hoopshype.com/lists/2024-nba-summer-league-rosters/
Bay Area Billiken
Yuri Collins started and played 26+ minutes in last night’s Golden State Warriors’ Game 3 in the California Classic Summer League, had 4 assists. Warriors beat Sacramento 91-90. I tuned in the game in the 4th Quarter on NBC Sports Bay Area, and Yuri, wearing #99, was on the screen. The play by play announcer said he spent 4 years at “Saint Louis,” the “Billikens.” HoosierPal, cgeldmacher and BuiltFordBills like this

I’m not sure only 4 assists in 26+ minutes keeps him in the G League after the summer
almaman
except for JG I am only concerned with how much all our former players r making. If fellow posters do post try to include salaries. way back it seemed like if u didn't make NBA u just loved the game & played for peanuts. Since Lisch's career DO it's seems there is a reasonable amount of coin 2 b had
thetorch
Yuri would make 3-10 times as much overseas as he does in the G league.

thetorch
Collins led the Warriors in minutes last night. They blew out the Suns. Yuri had 6 points, 3 boards, 5 assists, 2 steals, 7 TOs, 5 fouls, +/- 11.

davidnark
I don't know how any guard, and most players regardless of position, are going to make an NBA roster if they cannot shoot a respectable 3-point percentage. Boston's successful playoff strategy was to have every guy on the court be a threat from 3. The Celtics led the league in both 3 points attempted and made, and their goal was to make more than a 1/3rd of their 3s as a team. Dallas followed a similar strategy. All of the analytics say the ability of a lot of players on a team to effectively shoot a lot of 3s is the key to success in today's NBA. I fear this doesn't bode well for Yuri. On the positive side, the same strategy is also relevant in today's college game, and Coach Schertz is one of the top minds in the game at building a roster and coaching to the approach. I love the below shot chart from when Indiana State beat Cincinnati. It probably perplexes Travis.

When it came time to put that in action, not so great.

Pretty easy to say you’re going to shoot 30 a game playing against his Billiken defense Billiken Rich likes this
