Other message boards should have threads about Tatum & Beal, Billikens.com is far more distinguished & features threads about people like Jolly and Knollmeyer.

This was definitely needed in this thread thank you for the opening.

The thing about that sick Knollmeyer jam is that it features a SLU athlete so I'm good with it.

If things were going well it wouldn't be this way.  When things are going bad every thing is scrutinized.

I can only assume that this piece by Frank C. is a direct response to claims in this thread that SLU needs to focus on Goodwin's success more:

that's a very good article.   Thanks Frank!

At least Cooz tied Goodwin to SLU in the headline.

Late to this thread but to summarize: a couple of posters are mad that a SLU staffer posted a short clip of 3 NBA players practicing at SLU.

This first player is the named sponsor of the local AAU team that we are constantly trying to recruit from.

The second player is the son of a former SLU player that very seriously considered going to SLU and absolutely loves/represents St. Louis. His dad, the former player, has publicly stated one of his goals in life is to eventually be the head coach at SLU.

The third player is a local high school star that choose SLU, graduated from SLU, and against many odds has now made the NBA.

Yeah, I'd say we are pretty much in peak off-season form if people are criticizing the posting of this video.

I read the article twice and I guess I missed the discussion on how an obscure 13 second video totally disrespected Mr Goodwin and how bad this reflects on the entire university.

Other than that very nice.

I am always amazed at the utter BS that is posted on this Board and people lap it up as true. Forget about Dandridge.

Bob O’Lougllin graduated from Connecticut and is one of the smartest businessmen in St. Louis. He has been incredibly generous to SLU and active on the Board of Trustees, including acting as Chair of the Athletic Committee—and the O’Loughlin Family Champions Center is almost finished and it will be a fantastic facility. It is incredible that you and about 6 or 7 others on this board can do nothing but complain and post highly negative comments about everything related to SLU.

‘Why not give it a rest for a few months? Believe it or not there are many wonderful things happening at the university and our student body is a bunch of wonderful young people who really care about academics and caring for others and the 400+ athletes really care about academics as true student athletes and they want win and be successful. No person is perfect, no coach is perfect, no team is perfect but they are all doing the best they can to represent the university in a positive way and we should be very proud of them.

What is the plan to get the university's ratings back into the 80's and for it to stopped being passed by other Jesuit institutions?  Marquette, Gonzaga, Santa Clara and Loyola Marymount are all now higher rated than SLU.  Creighton, San Francisco and Loyola Chicago are all on the verge of passing SLU in the rankings.

Still no commitments and this remains the only thread with active posters.  Doesn’t anyone want to discuss the new band director and the direction of the pep band?

Good for you. The new director was announced almost a week ago me apparently no one cares anymore.

Glad they hired a new director, don’t know him personally but I wish the band success.

I saw this posted on twitter. I hope he is given the autonomy to put on a good show and can lure back our very talented alumni players. I will write him an email and request bringing back 25 or 6 to 4.

It was in the article explaining him leaving CBC:

https://www.stltoday.com/sports/high-school/boys-basketball/justin-tatum-looks-to-australia-to-continue-building-strong-coaching-resume-after-stepping-down-at/article_def115c4-f4e4-11ed-9e2d-ebe61da3b841.html

“I love St. Louis so much and I’m a Billiken at heart,” Tatum said. “One day, I hope to sit as the head coach of St. Louis University after Travis (Ford) has done such a great job.”

Just a reminder that Jordan's 2nd Father, Pee Wee Lenard, was convicted of 5 counts of felony theft for stealing over $50,000 from the Midnite Basketball program in 1998.

Over $130,000 was found missing from the accounts of the Midnite Basketball programs.  Lenard and his accomplices were only convicted in connection with about half that amount.  Prosecutors & Lenard said he spent the money on his sister's funeral and gambling losses at the Casino Queen.  A friendly judge gave all the defendants probation.  Lenard and his accomplices were all Mayoral appointments, and the director of recreation for the city who reported the missing funds intimated that Lenard and his accomplices were kicking back money to the Mayor's office and reelection campaign.  The case which received months of local coverage was quickly swept under the rug after the trial.

The Feds told a different story.  Involved with the James Harris/Maurice "Fat Head" Washington cocaine distribution case came out allegations of Lenard's involvement in drug dealing.  According to the FBI, Pee Wee Lenard was kidnapped by Washington after Lenard sold him severely stepped on cocaine.  Lenard was held by Washington until Lenard's relatives paid off his ransom with money Lenard had stolen from the Midnite basketball program.  Lenard's relatives after initially contacting the FBI to help in the kidnapping were not forthcoming with any more details and the FBI chose not to pursue it.  Washington was convicted of cocaine trafficking and received 15 years in prison.  He was also charged with but not convicted of murdering a federal witness in a drug case.

Days after Lenard was convicted he was back to coaching.  He's never commented on the allegations of drug dealing or being kidnapped by a convicted drug trafficker.  During the investigation another scandal involving city issued cell phones and their outrageous bills was uncovered.  Lenard, over the course of two years, ran up cell phone bills of over $7500 making 18,651 calls in that period of time.  Only the Mayor had anywhere near that many cell phone calls during that time period among city employees.  Lenard's accomplices also had phones.  Anthony Shahid made over 11,000 calls in that time period.  Hercle "Poison" Ivy made over 12,000.  For comparison, City Comptroller Darlene Green, who had 2 cell phones, made less than 3,000 calls in that same time period.  The phone calls were never seriously investigated, Lenard claimed they were mostly to his player's homes setting up game and practice times.

Didn't know he had 2 fathers. Seems more scandalous than cell calls. guess b4 unlimited plans.

Hoping for the best in this regard, but the athletic department doesn't have the greatest track record when it comes to micromanaging the band...
