  2. Just catching up on like 2 weeks of posts because my sleep schedule is completely jacked (turns out I have less time on maternity leave to read the boards than I did at work) but wanted to give a straight female perspective I can’t believe there’s any argument on Jimerson’s hotness. He could get it for sure.

  4. I think it's pretty clear that the staff wants both Abou Ousmane (traditional post player) and his teammate Jayson Woodrich (a 3/4 marksman). This isn't an either or.

  5. Unless Diarra makes a Grand Canyon size jump I wouldn’t count him being any sort of contributor. He’s going to have to prove he’s healthy then keep up at this level.

  6. He's definitely a wing, and he's an elite shooter. He's just an inch shorter and has a bigger frame than Lorentsson. He's grown 2 inches in the past year. He's also exploding as a prospect. He played four years at Beachwood HS in the Cleveland area, the last three as a varsity starter. He missed the first half of his junior year with a broken foot. He averaged 26.7 PPG as a senior and was named to the all-state team. He was thinking he'd be a JUCO prospect for a couple years but realized his grades were being hampered by undiagnosed learning disabilities - ADHD and dyslexia. He got medication and the resources he needed at school and his grades soared. Instead of going the JUCO route, he took a prep year. His first offers were in late November and early December before SLU offered. A ton of schools are interested and more will pull the trigger soon. He's worked extensively with former Beachwood players who have gone D-I and come home for the summer. He's focused on ballhandling, shooting off the dribble, leaping ability, and more. That's showing in his Scotland Campus highlight videos this season. He's a teammate of Abou Ousmane, a traditional center. They're not a package deal but SLU is actively recruiting both. Ousmane retweeted his SLU offer tweet with . He's had at least 12 games of 30+ points this season. He had 2 games where he hit 13 3-pointers. He's not a streaky shooter; he'll hit at any time to change momentum. He's one of 13 siblings - 7 biological and 6 step-siblings after his mom remarried. Favorite quote from my research on this kid: "Throw four people on me," Woodrich said, "I’ll still shoot right over you. I just feel like if I can get the ball off, the ball’s going in no matter what. That’s just how it’s been all year and I’ve got stats to show it." Bottom line: Let's get him and Ousmane on campus for a visit. He and Jimerson together would change everything offensively.

  8. David might have been the fastest player I have ever seen. Just outran people to get to the hole. He was before his time with flowing locks. One of the best Billikens ever who played on bad teams.

  9. How can you tell that? He's barely played. He had an injury coming in which means he was behind all the other guys going into the season. He's a freshman, so it's not like he already knew all the schemes. Things take time. I'm not saying he's for sure going to hit as a great player for SLU. But I'm not going to assume that he's not either. We have no idea what Diarra is yet. I don't know why everyone is so pessimistic with him.

  10. What makes you think he can't? Isn't it just as plausible that he hasn't played this year because he was behind the other guys because of getting a late start to practice due to getting over the injury he had coming in?

  11. Agreed - Plus we don't need too much from him before French graduates. Maybe 5-8 MPG. Come in, play good defense and rebound. Set some screens on offense and try to get an offensive rebound or two. It would be nice to avoid some foul trouble on French/Bell next year.

  12. I totally see everyone's point that Diarra is a complete unknown, but I don't think we should assume he can't or won't contribute next year. He had some leg issues coming in, and got started late because of them. I'd like to believe there's a reason Ford recruited him. And while nobody has 100% success rates on recruits, as long as he stays healthy, I don't think we should necessarily be so pessimistic that he can't be a quality player for us next year.

  13. Positionless basketball just means having guys on the floor who can defend multiple positions and who can handle and stretch the floor on offense. We fit on the defensive side of the equation but only partially on the offensive side.

  14. I’m going to have to disagree with you. We play flexible lineups, but we certainly don’t play positionless basketball. Almost all of our sets has a designated 1-5. Now, who plays which position varies widely, which is why I listed a litany of people at the 2-3. The positions are flexible, but there are certain attributes we’ll always have on the floor in every lineup. I don’t think we need more bigs because of a strict depth chart, I think we need more bigs because we need more shotblocking, length and rebounding.

  15. I'm gonna pull for Davidson - Puts them only one game ahead of us in loss column and we still have a game in hand vs them.. Don't want Davidson to pass us but they have a brutal end of season schedule so I'm thinking they still lose 3-4 more. (URI, at Dayton, at Richmind, VCU)

  16. I have complete confidence in coach Ford’s recruiting, so what I’m about to say is probably best ignored, but I’m not sure how I feel about adding another wing. We are already going to hopefully have Goodwin, Jimerson, Jacobs, Thatch, Strickland, Perkins and Hargrove taking up minutes at the 2-3 slots. Unless the player were adding is an elite talent, I feel like we’d be better served targeting big men depth or saving the scholarship for transfer season.

  17. Someone has to finish 3rd. Whoever finishes 3rd is still in good shape for a 3rd at-large bid, provided they don't lose in the first round in the A-10 tournament.

  20. Let the season play out and let Fred get more medical attention and pray he gets to play the game he loves again at this level. It sounds like it’s your belief that a D1 player can just take it easy and play at a high level at D2 or a lower level? This may be the case for an elite player to a certain extent, but for a high energy/intense player like Fred it would likely not be as fulfilling for him. It’s actually a bit of a insult to lower level players who work that butts off, and exert a ton of energy to achieve their level of success. Just let the season play out and pray we see him soon. It’s actually an injustice to be talking about anything other than what’s best for Fred and his SLU career in relation to his health. He is a Billiken.

  23. Haven't been yet but a few of my friends also found it underwhelming. I think that can be attributed to a few things: 1) People shouldn't compare it to Shedd or Atlanta's aquarium. As Box and Won said, it was never meant to compete with the big boys; and 2) We are so used to paying $0 for local attractions I'm sure people are expecting something to blow them away for the $20 entrance fee (or however much it costs). Personally, I find aquariums super depressing (particularly if there are dolphins) because the animals are super depressed but I've got kids so I'm sure we'll head down there at some point this year. I've heard all of the other attractions are really cool. It's pretty exciting to have Union Station showing a pulse once again.

  24. This made me curious about how some other players SLU recruited, but did not land, from the TF era were doing. Please let me know if I'm missing anyone we recruited heavily,: Jason Jitoboh (Florida) – Playing limited minutes for a decent Gators team. Will probably turn out to be a serviceable center, but I think we’d all take Jimmy Bell at this point. Torrence Watson (Missouri) – Averaging 5.2ppg and 1.5rpg, shooting 28% from three. Disappointing start to his career to say the least. Jared Rhoden (Seton Hall) – Averaging 9.2ppg and 6.7rpg on a very good squad. Would have been a really nice addition to our current group, though I’m not so sure we would have still recruited Perkins if we had Rhoden. Tim Finke (Wright State) – Averaging 3.5ppg at Wright State after transferring from Grand Canyon. His whole career since HS has taken a weird path. Thomas Allen (NC State) – Scored 9.2ppg as a sophomore at Nebraska last year. He transferred to NC State after a coaching change at Nebraska. I think he would’ve done really well in the A-10. Matt Turner (Marist) – Getting an inefficient 9.1ppg through 9 games at Marist. I believe he transferred from Santa Clara, where he played a limited role as a freshman. Doesn’t seem like a big miss. Anthony Mack (N/A) – Transferred to Miami after never playing a game for Wyoming. Had a decent freshman season for the Hurricanes playing spot minutes. Has since transferred away but I couldn’t find out where he landed. Weird. E.J. Liddell (Ohio State) – Hasn’t dominated for OSU, but gets plenty of minutes and has had a couple of big games. He will be an All-Conference player in the Big Ten someday. Overall there aren't too many big misses, unless I'm missing people (which I surely am). I would have loved to have landed Allen to join the French/Goodwin class.
