Aquinas
Good thoughtful article. I can see Thames landing that 3rd guard spot, but its a horse race. Basically any of these guys could break out. It appears Schertz brought in guys who have the potential to play big roles.
cgeldmacher
Agree about Thames having a potential breakout season. I would really like to see what he does in Schertz's system.
wgstl
If LHJ shoots above 38% from 3 it will be hard to keep him off too. Unfortunately I see one of those two getting left out.

I expect Anya to be the starter - Schertz was really excited about him. Casey and Dotzler are truly two wildcards - highly regarded out of HS, but have very little track record in college yet. One small nitpick, Larry is often credited as being a good defender. It's a common narrative, but I don't see it. The top three in mpg figure to clearly be Swope, Gibby and Avila. Then my best guess... 4 Johnson 5. Anya 6 Casey 7 Dotzler 8 Thames 9 Larry 10 Brockhoff ** I think Dotzler and Larry rankings could be reversed; and Thames and Casey could be flipped

They couldn't get an interview with Schertz, who talked to everyone else in town. Why not? How can you run a SLU sports podcast and not talk to the new basketball coach? They haven't interviewed anyone affiliated with the basketball program in a long time. What's so great about that? When nobody involved will talk to you it's tough to provide interesting and informative content. Both can survive. Something more basketball-specific with Jack would be entertaining. Schertz seems like the kind of guy who would relish the publicity and help out where he can. Jack knows his stuff and probably doesn't spend his day pissing on the AD, so guessing he would have access to provide some insight we don't currently get. They interviewed Harriman right after he was hired, and in general how many outlets were doing non-puff interviews about the SLU basketball program in the last 9 months? Schertz has not been on the show yet (and I have no inside knowledge of this status), but I can see why. @Midtown Madness held the Athletic Department's feet to the fire. I do not agree with every position they took, but they did help bring attention to shortcomings in the SLU program - which ultimately was good for the program. Because of this, I can understand the AD not wanting to put Schertz on the program right away, especially (and no offense to @billikenfan05 or @Pistol) when he can get on mediums with larger audiences. If someone is listening to Midtown Madness, Schertz going on the show is unlikely to sell another ticket. And the questions may be tougher (but I expect most of them to be fair). So what does the AD really have to gain by putting Schertz on? Probably not a whole lot at the moment. But I do think it would be a good interview. They do an excellent job and really appreciate their efforts. Any SLU fan should even those who may not always agree with them, but also, why wouldn't we want more SLU content? A lot of college teams have multiple outlets and content providers. The more the merrier. If someone else wants to come along and create a podcast that talks SLU hoops, we should welcome it.
