Not sure if this has been brought up yet or not - not gone to reading all of the previous posts since I was there - I was not impressed with how "well" the Dayton fans travel.  Sure didn't look like many were in the stands at not anywhere near what people were expecting.  Maybe the snow caused them to sell their tix on Stub Hub or another service.

they were scattered throughout.   in year's past they would be together.   the biggest disappointment for me for the attendance of the flyer fans is there were quite a few in the high roller corporate seats.   you mean to tell me that our local corporations cant give them to their customers and employees?  they have to give them to our enemy rivals?

We didn't have Linssen in our first game. I'm hoping he can make the difference today. Also, Williams getting more minutes lately makes me wonder if Ford doesn't think he has a secret weapon in him. Of course, Williams hasn't exactly been shooting lights out, so it could be our Chinese hypersonic missile; ie it looks scary but they don't know what or where it's gonna hit.

Yep. I think Daytime now knows who is Linssen!  Good call!

Yuri should be A10 player of the week.

Yuri being a legitimate scoring threat makes our team so dangerous if it continues.  The way Yuri is playing this team could win the rest of the conference games.

He was great on the defensive end too. Held Smith to 8 pts on 4/15 shooting along with 2 steals and that monster block.

fans must not have liked the shirts.   wife and i left with 8 various sizes.  could have had 28.   must have been dayton fans that didnt want a souvenier.  oh well stocking stuffers for my kids and grandkids.   loved that i got a few mediums and smalls.   not just large and xl's like usual.

i love the shirt.

what a crowd.  particularly the students.   and for the record, i dont think a one of the students left early and they were awesome the entire game.

Student section was great. They proved that theyll show up in numbers for the right opponent.

Do opposing coaches do a presser after games?

Do the local reporters cover them?

Id like to hear what Grant has to say about everything.

https://www.daytondailynews.com/sports/grant-flyers-angry-after-late-game-incident-with-fan-in-loss-to-saint-louis/AWREFASCKBADPIYWMGT7O5LPLE/

In Dayton’s 72-61 loss Saturday to Saint Louis at Chaifetz Arena, the ball bounced out of bounds under the basket after a dunk by Saint Louis with 1:38 to play. Smith ran to get it so he could push the ball up the court. The ball rolled to Jordair Jett, a former Saint Louis guard who was inducted into the school’s hall of fame at halftime.

Smith tried to get the ball from Jett, who had it between his legs.

“I wanted to go grab it,” Smith said, “and he was like, ‘Get the (blank) out of my face.’ I said, ‘Chill.’”

There was jawing at that point between Smith and Jett, and Grant ran from the Dayton bench to express his displeasure. He had to be held back by his players as Jett looked on from the baseline.

“You don’t go at a young man trying to compete on the court,” Grant said. “If you’re a fan, you stay in your place. That was weak.”

The officials reviewed the incident, and minutes later, security guards escorted Jett out of the stands to loud applause from the Saint Louis fans.

“I was really (upset) a fan would do that, especially a grown man,” Smith said.

Good for them (the students).  Now if they will just repeat it in the remaining games, that would be great.

Well those corporate boxes were probably Dayton fans that live in StL and work for them or know somebody who works for them.  I understand that they were scattered about but it just didn't seem to me that there was all that many of them.

It sounds like Jett staying in his place is what set Smith off.

Unfortunately, VCU is probably the only other A10 opponent that moves the needle.

I think St. B and VCU will both be good turnouts. While St B has pretty much fallen off a cliff they still have some name value from making the tourney last year and being ranked earlier in the year. Plus they’re both Friday night games, which always get everyone out.

Don’t expect middle of the week games against La Salle and St Joes to move the needle though

I don't disagree with you about how it will probably work out, however, watching the students it sure seemed like they were having a ball as they should have.  Why would you not want to show up after tonight?  What else would you be doing when the LaSalle and St. Joe's games are played ?  It's not like a few years ago when you had to endure catching a school shuttle to and from Kiel !  Now all they have to do is walk 1/4 mi with friends and have some fun yelling for 2 hours.  Many (most?) of them couldn't tell a Bonnie from a Hawk.  Ford does more to get student support than any coach I can ever remember.  It's time for them to pay him back by supporting the school's team.

I’m guessing that encounter didn't go exactly as Smith described it. I’d be willing to bet a hefty sum that smith did not ask for the ball back in a polite manner.

I would bet the way he tried to get the ball back is in what escalated the situation.

Just my guess i may be wrong.

One thing is certain and that is Grant and his staff acted like a bunch of bozos and it’s ridiculous he wasn’t hit with a technical or ejected. They made that situation much worse than it should have been.

I don’t know if this is related but I was in a custom shirt shop about an hour after the game. Sitting right there on the counter was an order from a M. Smith for a blue shirt with a request to have Yuri’s ***** embroidered across the back.

Be careful or Anthony Grant might try to fight you

It was prob getting his a$$ handed to him by Yuri for the past 39 min.

Exactly. There is nothing I’ve seen, and I’ve seen raw video of the “incident”, that makes me think this is anything other than Dayton being frustrated with the way this game was going. Their bench flipped out over Yuri emphatically grabbing a rebound, or pretty much any time SLU did anything with any kind of strength.
