Osunnyi was awwsome in that game and got in our heads. We will be smarter this year.

He isn't the player he was in years past. Dealt with injuries all year. Has't scored more than 10 in any conference game except against LaSalle and Duquesne. Look at his numbers against the good bigs in the conference. Mediocre to bad against Dayton, Davidson, Mason.

Holmes had 20/7

Brajk had 13/7

Oduro had 15/7 and 5 blk.

These numbers are encouraging. After the way Linssen was eating up Holmes, I think Linssen goes off again.

Last year was a different season, one which we based our play upon French and Goodwin. This year, after the loss of Perkins SLU had to develop, by necessity, what is probably a more flexible play style which uses more of the bench for significant amounts of time than we used to give them in the past. This year, it is likely that the team with the less flexible play style will be St. Bona. We have yet to see if this does the trick or not. However, whether this mean anything or not, our stats are better than theirs both offensively and defensively this season.

Osunniyi’s offensive game is limited to dunks, outback’s and open lay ups.  These are not the traditional moves as exhibited by Oduro and Moore that lead to personal fouls.  You don’t have to cover Osunniyi until he hits the restricted arc.  Just like Holmes of Dayton.

SLU's NET of 49 is the best in the A10.

But absent winning the A10 Tourney, per a pure following of the NET (there are annually about 3 variances), a NET of 49 would have SLU as the first team OUT of the NCAA and the Top Seed overall in the NIT.  Of course, we don't want that.  There has been progress, even overnight, as SLU's NET improved from 51, #2 in the NIT, to 49.

The NCAA At Larges cut off at 48 Florida.  I still question if the NCAA would actually give the 21st of 32 conferences ranked Ohio Valley Conference 2 NCAA teams, the WCC 4 and the Mountain West 4.  There are also 3 10 loss teams in the NCAA field- 39 Oklahoma, 43 Virginia Tech, and 44 Utah State.  Plus, both OVC contenders, 26 Murray State and 45 Belmont are leaving the OVC for the MVC, changing Valleys.

The Last 4 IN would be 45 Belmont, 46 BYU, 47 Michigan, and 48 Florida.

There remains work to do, points to pick up.  Winning cures all.

Bay that 48 cutoff number only works if no upset non worthy tourney winners in the conferences that have other worthy teams.   That tourney winner is taking an at large spot from someone

That stretch of Belmont and UAB hurts so bad right now.

There was no excuse caving to auburn or losing to UMass either.

Auburn is the #1 team in the nation, maybe we played better than we are.. Umass is a conference game on the road, always hard for us.

Now, Belmont and UAB are bubble teams, and at home.  Lose one of those fine, but both?

Quick reminder that our expected leading scorer & potential conference POY tore his ACL immediately before the season started.

Losing a bunch of those games we lost hurts now especially since we are on the bubble along with some of the teams who beat us.  No disputing that.  At the same time, who expected us to actually BE on the bubble when Perkins went down?

Belmont seemed particularly winnable.  Taking that one might've helped knock them off the bubble as well.

Agreed, but our resume is absolutely better than Belmont's resume.  Even though they won at Chaifetz, I don't think we should be behind them.  If you go with that line of thinking we should be ahead of Boise St, but we aren't because Boise has a better overall resume.

Both UAB and Belmont were/are very winnable and as you said would have helped the bubble factor.

Didnt Belmont overcome a 16 point deficit too?  Makes it even worse.

So this is part of what im saying, and I was very vocal about this during the Belmont uab stretch.  Sure what we did without Perkins has been great, but there is no reason to drop both of those. You can pick and choose which of the 2 you would haver preferred to win, but at home, 1 out of 2 should have been the very least.  Going 0-2 at home against bubble teams is not good.  Heck, this is the case if we were ranked in the 100's in kenpom.

Sports games do not follow logic, reason, or even (at times at least) probability analysis. We should have won but we did not. There is no way to alter the outcomes in these games. We are, still, a good team which is not generally accepted to be as good as we really are, or can be.
