  1. Was at Loyola game and mbb really sucks, I can’t listen to “just wait until we get healthy bs” this isn’t a young team of talented kids, might as well add wbb to the list as well, still NO sod (which is laughable to begin with should be turf) on baseball field and it’s almost mid January, still don’t have an answer that ALL student athletes can eat at CC and we are still employing the dumbest AD and Assistant AD in all of NCAA. IF the leadership at slu is serious about winning….the need to clean house now. Don’t wait. Whole place is a dysfunctional mess. At least give everyone hope that you recognize things are bad and you want it fixed.

  6. Nope, no reading problem. you say sit and wait for the right coach as if this is a draft and we are the first overall pick. That’s not how this works, even if we waited for the right coach doesn’t mean we outbid him or get him. so we would be burning years for nothing

  7. Chris Beard “allegedly” strangled his wife, and now he’s got the Rebels at 13-0. It’s about winning and $, nothing else.

  8. That’s the key. No coach worth his salt is going to take the job w/o an NIL checkbook. Kids aren’t likely to be swayed only by a coach’s rep. They’re gonna ask how much do I get.

  10. Dear Fellow MBMs, We are the most ardent fans of SLU Athletics in general and men's basketball specifically. It is clear many of us feel that the current Athletic Department is failing and the outlook for the basketball team is poor. Therefore, the time to seek a change of Athletic Director and subsequent change of MBB coach is now to be positioned to hire at the end of the season. This effort is not a personal vendetta against Chris May or Travis Ford, it is based on performance. We the fans do have power and if we work together we can influence those with greater influence and decision making power on the direction of SLU Athletics. If we share input, information and cooperate in the endeavor it will increase our chances of success. Here's a proposed plan of action: Steps for AD Change (MBB Coach change to follow): 1. Contact AD May and request he resign. 2. If he refuses to resign then follow up with the President, Board of Trustees and SLU Sponsors a. Outline the failures of AD and the basketball team b. bad basketball equals bad investment for sponsors 3. If the above is unsuccessful a. contact media b. start social media campaign c. other protests/actions TBD Tasks to Complete: A. Please provide input on other possible steps or how to maximize impact in this thread B. Draft emails detailing our grievances C. Share key contacts to target in this campaign D. Determine a method to collaborate (I recommend we work in Google Drive where we can collectively work on drafts and share information) We are not muckrakers reacting to emotional whims, it has taken years of under achievement to bring us to this point. We can continue to suffer and complain about it or we can organize and act. I'm a man of action, are you? If so let's join together and bring about needed change. Sincerely, The A Bomb

  11. This is Ford’s downfall. In the first half of his tenure, I thought he was following in the tradition of past SLU coaches with strong rebounding and defense. With time, D has fallen markedly, no set system. It was luck of the draw with players like JGood, French and Bess. Allowing 80 points is now common, long for the days when it was a rarity.

  13. Thanks Wiz, I’m getting there! I’m sorry for going off, I just read that line and didn’t want to hear it haha. The data behind it certainly makes sense, I just couldn’t take that line right after what I watched and in my current head space! And these analysis do demonstrate the fine line between not only winning and losing, but winning and not being overly competitive. I really do enjoy the content though, I just didn’t need it right after the game yesterday as I was still cooling down from the frustration. My apologies. Better days ahead!

  15. Huh?!?! What is the point of this? This is why the bad post function must come back. You probably spent a great deal of time crafting this post, which is meaningless, absolutely no point to it. Is that the point you are trying to make, perception vs reality? I glossed over this post saw the format and decided to re read, it looks smart. But in reality it is the dumbest post I've seen in months.

  16. If anyone of power at SLU has any brains at all...the AD who hired SLU must go in addition to Travis Ford.

  17. Throwing another name out there that's a bit different. Remember when SLU played the "Duke of Canada" Carleton University? Well Dave Smart former Carleton HC is now an assistant at TTU and they are 11-2. Has serious experience and good results at the Canadian College and FIBA National Team Level. Also added bonus we can pay this guy in Canadian Dollars which are like waaaaaay less than real Dollars. https://texastech.com/sports/mens-basketball/roster/coaches/dave-smart/3927 https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dave_Smart

  20. The game was never within reach after the first few minutes of the 2nd half. We had no offense and couldn’t defend. Obviously if we don’t turn the ball over it produces a different result, but we did and got blown out. I probably don’t need to read a computer breakdown of a game that I watched. TOs (both turning it over - 16 and not forcing TOs - 5) and defense continue to be problems for this team and until the final 3 minutes we did not hit enough 3s to keep the game competitive (we were 3-15 from 3 prior to the final 3 minutes, so those final 3 minutes completely skew that portion of the slash line). Wiz, I don’t mean to go after you, I’m just pissed off.

  21. SLU's Return on Investment (ROI) is bad. Ford's salary is more than the entire budget of La Salle. His salary is more than half of the entire budget of 12 of 15 A10 Schools. Total waste, complete negligence by AD May.

  23. It feels unproductive to analyze this as a 12 point loss. The end of game run produces flawed conclusions. That was not a potential win that slipped away, they ran us and when the result was decided Hughes x3 and Thames hit some 3s while they were content to run out the clock, but that was merely cosmetic during garbage time. We are one of the best garbage time teams I’ve ever seen though.

  24. The George Mason HC is making well less than half of Ford's salary, and has quickly put together a team that will contend for the A10 title. He's young and 'unproven'... but knows what it takes and what it feels like to be a winner. He has identified under-valued players in the portal, has brought them in and quickly convinced them to play as an alpha team instead of alpha individuals. This could be easily turned around in one cycle if decision makers have the desire and vision.

  25. There isn’t one. Either donors and May think that SLU can be a relevant program, or they don’t. Wasting money on NIL as long as Travis is here makes 0 sense. Bite the bullet, pay the buyout, and bring someone in with a plan to get SLU where the program should be.

  28. Other than any potential fallout from the show cause, I don’t have any issues with Wade. “Recruiting violations” doesn’t hold the same weight or stigma that it used to have, in my opinion. Kids get paid and have for a while and it’s basically professional sports. No moral high ground over here…

  29. He could do it and would still lose. Dude has won a NCAA tournament game in 27 years of coaching. He could have Lebron and still F it up some how. He's a loser, and will always be a loser.

  33. @BLIKNS thanks for the response. I disagree that winning the A10 cures the issue. See the other thread regarding the poll. There are legitimate issues in the AD. Winning 3 games of 4 games in a very bad A10 tournament isn't going to cure. SLU isn't doing a lot of things that other schools our size do. If you only follow SLU Athletics look at what some other programs are doing. MBB is the biggest issue but it isn't the only issue.
