  1. He posted a plus 12, played in the closing minutes of a win, and to really put things in perspective look at what Wizards fans are saying on Twitter...

  2. Interesting. On a completely unrelated topic, I think it would be nice to bring the "bad post" option back.

  3. I heard part of an interview today with Ford. He was talking about the new recruits...I missed the Medley part but Coach was high on Vice...He said , " Here is a 6'11" guy who can pass, dribble , go to the basket, play D and shoot especially 3s ...a great 3p shooter. He is an athlete and moves well. He is an All State wide receiver ...as in football." On recruiting , he said he has always liked to recruit freshman and will continue to do so. He likes to develop them. He feels there will be high quality ones available as other teams are now recruiting from the portal. He said we will pick up players occasionally on the transfer as needed but it won't be the focus of recruiting. In addition , he thinks there will be outstanding JUCOs available as teams shun those players even more than freshman. When asked about losing players to the portal or by the pressure of the NIL...he said he is not concerned...it may happen occasionally but on the times it does we will be able to deal with it.

  4. Which brings up the point, if methdale fans (and I don't care if they are your father and mother) PLEASE tell them hell no you won't give/sell them your tickets. It irks me to no end to see the opposition seated in great seats in our house. Let em go online and overpay for those top row seats.

  6. Fun road trip would be going to DC and watching JG and the Wizards play the Knicks on Friday, January 13 and then watch the Billikens play at GW at 3:00 on Saturday, January 14.

  7. Jordan ended up playing 29 minutes in the Wizards 113-105 win over Luka Doncic and the Maverics. This was tied for 3rd most minutes for the Wizards tonight. He was in the entire time at the end when the game was still in question. Finished with 2 points, 7 rebounds, and 6 assists (2nd on team).

  8. And your interpretation of Ford's comments here is so narcissistically twisted to fit your annoying boomer NIL stance. What Ford was most likely saying is that they have an NIL plan because they view it as a necessary evil but it won't compete against the P5 bottomless bank accounts and that's okay because there are more than enough good ball players to go around. Certainly not "We don't care about NIL."

  9. Talent-wise, we are a lot closer to England than the other two imo. We're young and Berhalter isn't the man for the job, BUT our talent can prevail. A healthy Reyna is back. He looks like a world beater in Dortmund right now. Our Leeds lads have been very good. Call me a homer, but IF Gregg stays out of the way (that's a big if), I've talked myself into the possibility of winning the group. England is really thin where we are deep - our wings vs their back line, especially if Walker isn't fit. I think our midfield can play with theirs. I think Jude could give us fits, but if Southgate plays any of Mount/Henderson/Gallagher, they're in big trouble. If they elect to go with two, advantage US. Their best creator is Maddison and Southgate has never played him when he's had the chance. Phillips will give us fits as we go forward, but not sure if Southgate will play him. Now, Dest and Jedi will have to play really well, as Foden is truly world class and Saka has been playing well as of late (fwiw, Ream and Robinson both played well vs City and Arsenal this season). Grealish would give us fits in the final third but Southgate hasn't played him with regularity either. Tuchel (RIP) turned Sterling from one of the most dynamic players in the world under Pep to just another guy. We need to be weary of giving away free kicks. Trippier is one of the best in the world. As you can see, my mind is far enough away from Saudi Arabia to where I've talked myself into this. Don't try to disagree with me. I'm the one who is right. Just be ready for an all-time day drinking day on 11/25. And three points.

  10. Realistic: 1-3 points, out in group stage. optimistic (semi possible): 4 points, out in first knockout round. Best case: 6 points, get a beatable knockout round opponent, get to the quarters where anything can happen, especially with our talent/depth in midfield and wing. I just don’t see our back line being strong enough, unfortunately. Adams dropping back to help out defensively will be huge. I’m not as worried about ST as some. I’m high on Sargent, think he looks better for the national team when he’s got some talent around him. Not as low on Ferreira as others, but he’s more of a false 9 than anything.

  11. A guy named Brock Vice simply HAS to be an all-star athlete. Sounds like a champion. If the hype comes to fruition the combo of him and Cian oughta be real special.

  12. Literally anyone else…? Long is essentially a traffic cone since his injury. Just on the roster alone, I’d start Ream or CCV alongside Zim. Not on the roster, I’d take Brooks, EPB, Sands, McKenzie. Hell, I’d even take Justen Glad or Matt Miazga before Long. Long got torched all year by MLS attackers, how do we think he’s gonna cope with Kane ?

  18. Yeah I’m not sure Long would be in top 10-15, much less top 2, and fwiw Zimmerman hasn’t been great post-Robinson either. The pairing was really good against some subpar teams (and Mexico), but for now the position is in some real trouble.

  28. There's always been 3 to 4 spots in the League for junkyard dogs who do all the dirty work. But that's the extent of it -- 3 to 4 spots. And you have a very limited time to show and prove before teams move on to somebody else. Props to JGood for being ready when his number was called and playing lights out. The percentage of people in the world who can produce under that kind of pressure is infinitesimally small.

  29. Ford's greatest accomplishment in the league, Marcus Smart, is 6'4" and 220#. Goodwin is 6'3" and 200#. Both seem to have similar games. Can Goodwin get to a Smart-like situation? Seems plausible. Smart makes $17m per year.

  31. What stands out to me about Godwin’s skill set is that it’s very different from the typical NBA prospect. When we discuss the best NBA prospects from SLU (even when Goodwin was here) we point out guys like Perkins and Jimerson because they have size and can shoot the lights out. Goodwin does all the other dirty work; plays stifling defense, rebounds, passes, and has a passable offensive game that compliments his defense and rebounding well. Point being, Goodwin offers a skill set that is often missing from young guys in the league (especially in the G league, where no one plays D and is just trying to get theirs) and could very well make a solid NBA career out of it. To anyone who is tapped in with the NBA, is there a chance he could get himself a guaranteed deal?

  32. This is huge. Goodwin was never a no-doubt NBA prospect. Far from it. Fell in the 60-150 range of the HS recruiting rankings, depending on where you looked. Not a great jump shooter. Maybe a little in between size positionally. He's always been an unusual player. He's just put in the work. The NBA doesn't care where you come from. There's a path from anywhere. SLU having someone actively in the league, getting minutes, and performing is such a massive boost. The staff just got a gigantic selling point that they've never had before.

  33. (Selfishly,) The best part of what Goodwin is doing is the benefit it will be to SLU recruiting. Proof of concept to sell to all the local and non-local recruits that want to come to SLU and think they have a chance at the league.
