Coach Schertz System or how I learned to stop worrying and love the long bomb.

This video is a good breakdown of why the system is superior based on Points Points per Possession Triple P not to be confused with Double P.  ISU was #13 on KenPom Adj Off. #1?  That would be National Champion UCONN. #2? That's Final 4 Alabama.  So that's a good metric to measure good teams.  Think of it like this if you take 3, 3 point shots and hit 1 you're at 1ppp.

ISU PPP was ranked #7 at 1.159 according to https://www.teamrankings.com/ncaa-basketball/stat/offensive-efficiency

This is why you need to buy so much salsa.

I'm not telling your mom about this, but drugs are bad.

Do you keep that same attitude about alcohol?

Norlander and Parrish think Schertz is the best "mid-major" hire as mentioned on their podcast at the 1:31:57 mark and discussed after all the hires are listed.

Interesting comment from Schertz at the Billiken Golf Classic.  He said that if the Dec transfer rule had not come into play, meaning that 2x transfers would not have to sit, he might not have left Indiana State as Kent, Swope and Conwell had all transferred in.  They would have had to sit a year if they transferred under the old rule.  Avila would have stayed, so the Sycamores could have 'run it back'.

His comments about NIL and transfer rules were very interesting. He thinks there needs to be regulation with NIL - it is not at all playing out as NIL was intended. Also, he said that allowing the two-time transfers to sit out a year was a big reason he left ISU - because it opened up the possibility of players who had already transferred once - Kent, Swope and Conwell - to easily leave again. He thinks if that change wasn't made, he likely would still be at ISU.

Glad the interview turned out ok but I wish someone would have advised him not to go on Slaten’s show.

Best case scenario 200-250 60+ year old men hear you on a radio station that has about a 50 mile listening radius.

There is no benefit from talking to that man.

Concur. Someone gave Coach bad advice.

Actually if he had said no he would have been seen as ducking Slaten.  He did now and does not have to go back again and Slaten didn't have any ammo against him yet.  I thought it was a wise decision.

So he expects us to believe that he would have turned down 2 million for 6 years to stay where they were stretching to give him 750K - not buying it.  Also there was no assurances that they would have stayed once the offers started coming in.

If they ran it back, made the tourney (likely win a few games) he is looking at 1.5-2x that and at a school with a bigger NIL bag.  I'll be honest, if I was him, and I had everyone returning and couldn't leave, I'd have to think long and hard about taking the SLU job.
