I remember hearing about that; that was a great day. Was on my way home from the field house after watching the game; i was fist pumping and hollering up a storm in the car. Hearing about Crews getting fired is right up there with beating Louisville in my all-time great Billiken memories. Hoping the same after the tournament with TF.

I'm getting kind of fired up just thinking about it.

Stu posted in his X Thread w/ his Credential that he is not going to Brooklyn next week. That would lead me to believe there will be no announcement of a coaching change after our exit from the tournament.

I have no idea whether Stu goes to Brooklyn or not.  He hasn't been at every away game.  Yes the Post Dispatch, along with just about every daily in this country, has money issues.

My take on his post is that this was the final game for the credential for Billiken Home Games.  That Billiken credential wouldn't get him into Brooklyn.  I have been wrong before.

Lisch is a way better athlete than most of those guys. I guess maybe Thames and Parker could beat him in some specific measurables but he still has better body control and strength than either of them, and I'm sure depending on which other categories you included, there would be more. I'm not sure how to measure it wholistically - I do know that he would be by far the best player on this team and he's an outstanding all-around athlete. Medley and Meadows aren't even close in terms of athleticism.

Lisch is a better basketball player than all of them by far.   Not even close.    He has been drilled in fundamentals and focus and just savvy since he was 6 years old.

But if these players lined up to compete in the decathlon with no advanced training for the individual athletic events, Kevin would not be the victor

-in the first 8 or so minutes we were playing, for us, really good and we had a 3pt lead, then SVU started to play

-how does the game ball go missing? there has to video of what happened to it

-TJH not being removed from the game to be recognized just doesn't make sense for a coach in his 27th season

-at half time the score was 49-35, start of 2nd half they made 3's and with 16:17 remaining their lead got to 20, we took our first time out of the half with 4:10 remaining, that's some coaching

-the Kellen Thames show for those couple of minutes was fun and a great dunk

-Thanks Mama Hargrove, well said

-the headline at SLUBillikens.com for the game is "Jimerson, Hargrove Enjoy Productive Senior Night"

If Stu is not going to Brooklyn, there's probably a good chance the P-D will hire a pool reporter to cover the game(s) and any post-tournament festivities.

Lee will probably have either their VCU or Richmond beat writers from the Richmond Times-Dispatch cover the Billikens, too.  It is a pretty easy call on their part.  Why waste money for airline tickets and a hotel for Stu when SLU sucks and most readers won't care about the game?

It is what Lee does for their Illini coverage in the Post.  The beat writer whose articles appear in the Post for the Illini actually is a Decatur Herald & Review writer a different paper Lee owns.

I have been reading page upon page about how bad our defense is and how incapable the players perform. I really want to make the point that the deficiencies we find in our players should be laid upon the poor work done by Ford and the coaching staff. They cannot train these kids properly and therefore the kids cannot perform well during the games. All of these problems can be dealt with with a new coaching staff.

Just as likely is they’re not quick enough to defend properly.

I wasn't aware of this.  Anyone close enough to 111 to know what happened?

I watched it pretty closely from across the arena in 102.  They guy had seats near the corridor the refs exit through.  He walked 2 or 3 rows down and yelled at them on the way off the court at halftime.  Rather than just walking into the tunnel, the refs engaged with the guy and then two of them started waving their arms in a "you're out of here" motion.  A cop then walked over and told the guy to stay put.  To his credit, he did.  I would have walked off and found other seats figuring the refs were kicking me out.  About ten minutes after the "incident" someone came down the aisle and escorted the guy and his buddy out of the building.  At least, I assume they were kicked out, but didn't see what happened after they walked up the stairs.

I think it was rather weak of the refs.  They could have just walked on through.  I'm sure it's not the first time someone has given them negative feedback as they walk off the court.  Also, if five fans had been yelling instead of just one, the refs wouldn't have felt so bold as to kick them all out.  The fact that this guy was on an island by himself is what lead to his fate.  Sometimes, I feel as if we have too many apathetic fans down low compared to other schools.  I, for one, wanted to buy this guy a beer, but didn't get the chance.

So true. Our big money guys are all soft. I'm slowly making my way down there.

The lack of defense with this team unfortunately is a given for whatever reason, however why on earth did they not try to feed the post with Ezewiro and let him go one-on-one vs Holmes.

The spin move that Brad put on Holmes was classic and would have put Holmes either playing with multiple fouls or on the bench being replaced with a less skilled center.  Bruce Zhang & SVB don't have the moves yet that Ezewiro has.

The shoot-out strategy with little to no defense against a team like Dayton was not going to lead to a good result.

I agree, and I think that is another indictment of Ford and the coaching staff.  Holmes got a foul about a minute into the game.  After that, I was screaming for the Bills to get the ball to Ezewiro and just let him go at Holmes and try to get him his 2nd foul.  Any coach I can think of that knows the game would have done this.  Our guys got no instruction to implement this strategy.  Just baffling.  Getting Holmes a 2nd foul in the first few minutes of the game would have been huge.

That's unbelievably weak sauce. That is really pathetic stuff. Back in the RM, Spoons, or even Sodie days that would not have flown. I have screamed horrible stuff at officials back when i really cared. Things I am ashamed of. We won though so who cares. Now we are soft and weak and getting pummeled by Dayton.

Should have kicked AG out after that clown show he pulled last year. No such antics this year with this snoozefest of a team. AG was nice and calm with his double digit win. Last year when him and his bums were losing he was going ballistic.

SLU, the program, and our fans need some HATE. We need some RAGE. We should be looking for blood to spill when hated VCU and UD come to town. We should be mocking the wimpy likes of Fordham and LaSalle. Who wants this nice family-friendly program. Let's get some rage and anger out there.

When UD comes to town it should be like Ohio St v Michigan. I want former players getting into it with the opposing bench, i want fans screaming like banshees at officials, i want the band fighting to be heard over the "$&#^ Dayton" screams uttered by Zima-fueled lunatics. Maybe stop at players fighting; but at least words should be exchanged and some tech warnings going on.

Couldn't disagree more.  We need players and coaches who hate to lose and are willing to do what it takes to win, but you don't need to hate opposing teams and players.  Most of the best players I've met respected the opposing team and players.  That didn't mean you didn't want to beat them.  "We should be looking for blood to spill when hated VCU and UD come to down."  Again, couldn't disagree more.  We should be ready to look them in the eye and go toe to toe with them, but no need to go looking for blood.  That type of attitude is not appropriate on or off the court (or field, depending on your sport).  If the other team wants to play physical, by all means, be prepared to match that play (see the great Brian Conklin video), but no reason to adopt that attitude before the game has even begun.  Focus on winning, on playing the perfect game, not on looking for blood.

Yep....from 2014:

Any coach should have an instant understanding of all this. Why Ford didn't use the timeout to find a way to get the ball to either Forte or Brown is beyond me. If either one misses that's one thing, but there's little doubt they were the best options given the situation.

Ultimately the loss shouldn't be totally pinned on Travis Ford, but it does begin to show a pattern. A pattern where Ford continually makes suspect decisions in close games.

Sorry, couldn't pass this up...sit closer, we still win that battle! 😉 Some of us, maybe myself, sound like psychotic lunatics, all the while still sober.  Is that good or bad?!  🥴

I get what @Wendelprofis saying, keep it classy there are acceptable lines. This isn't Philadelphia or Lubbock (did you see that pathetic display the other day when the coach had to ask them to stop throwing things?).

I also get @Soderball maybe he just means we need more passion.  More love/hate emotion.
