brianstl
Looks like we are in on Dylan Warlick who was committed to Wyoming. A 6-5 wing out of Edmund North in Oklahoma who appears to have some bully ball to his game. A 3 star kid rated as the 50th best SF by Rivals. Warlick did the right thing, anyone from the low lands will have trouble playing basketball at Larramie, WY at 7900 feet above sea level. Just thinking about him playing in the Mountain conference for WY seems to me a guaranteed less than great performance for this kid, particularly in the first season. What about him adapting to the higher elevation - people do it all the time. It is not like he there for only one day. He would be going to school and basically living there. Aquinas
This is the kind of player Majerus loved. Have our 3point shooting bigs pull the defending bigs away from the basket, then have a guard like this post up against their guards.

He would live in Laramie, but would have to go play elsewhere at much lower altitude levels. This would mess up his level of adaptation until he was completely and permanently adapted, which takes time. A lot more that a week. Ask A-Bomb, he has experienced the process. Using your logic then nobody should go to schools in higher elevation. Unless a player has some type of a respiratory issue it is moot. You are over hyping this issue. If he played half of his games at sea level it would balance out anyway

dlarry
The high elevation is only a problem when mixed with ice cubes formed in low elevation. slufanskip likes this

America and go to Machu Picchu, or Bogota and find out yourself what it is like. You could also go to Laramie and try to run around a block. You are assuming that a person would not adapt over time to the higher elevation which is not true. I have been in higher elevation areas numerous times - 7K is not much higher than Denver. Normally after a few days whatever impact being at the higher elevation may have on a person has dissipated significantly. If you are living in the area you will make that adaptation and have a normal life there. I am sorry you don't understand this but this is the truth. Old guy
Adaptation to high altitude suitable for most people leading normal lives is not the same as adaptation that allows you to play basketball in D1. Can you get the concept that you need a hell of a lot more effort and a much greater oxygen consumption than what normal people need when you are playing D1 basketball competitively? Sombor, Serbia has an elevation of 295 feet. Nikola Jokic has somehow managed to overcome is birth and childhood at sea level to become a 3 time MVP in Denver (elevation over 5,000 feet).
