Coach clearly learned no Defense.  Playing in the 80s/90s trying to outscore the opposition. Sloppy play. Offense in and out of sync. Doesn't look too different from last year.

What a horrific last six minutes…. We will see what coach Schertz has in terms of halftime adjustments.

Some bright spots but too many TO’s and how many O rebounds did they pull down. Down 7 let’s see what adjustments are. By the way Sendek’s a pretty good coach.

Truly horrible sequence with the missed dunk that would have brought it to 44-43, the tech makes it 45-41, and then they make a deep 3 to end the half. By missing a dunk he gave them three points.

Neither team is rebounding well on the defensive end. The difference is turnovers and fouls. Still, I think SLU is one good sequence away from tying this up and if it's close late, we have better players. I didn't know Senduk was SC's coach. He can really coach and SC looks more prepared.

Fouls SLU 11, SCU 7; Turnovers SLU 8, SCU 6. Santa Clara has largely been the aggressor, outscored SLU 20-8 late in half after SLU took 5 point lead. 
 

SLU getting that lead was the best SLU spurt, hopefully showed what this team can be. Robbie Avila needs to stay out of foul trouble, dodged getting that 3rd foul.

With a healthy Sincere Parker, SLU would be up 10 at the half.

Santa Clara leads 10-5 on made free throws, which is close to the 7 point halftime deficit.

We did not do that bad in the first half although Anya cost us 3 pts (2 by not allowing his dunk to go in  by holding to the rim and 1 for the TF) before the end of the half. They are taller than we are and their play appears better coordinated and more cohesive. We can win this game, we will see. I like the way that Schertz keeps his cool and talks calmly with the refs, a major difference from Ford.

We have spurts where we perform extremely well, just needs more time together to be consistent. Swope and Avila show they have clear chemistry with their passes.
